"If you want something bad, you have to fight for it. Step up your game, Scott. Break out the L-word."

"Lesbian?"

"The other L-word."

"...Lesbians?"

The lady and I have just finished seeing the film. I gotta say it's been awhile since I've seen something I can laugh and geek out at. 8-bit music (LEGEND OF ZELDA YAY)/an awesome 8-bit sword! Awesome and corny fight scenes, and visuals are killer. I love this movie.

I spent the first 5 or 10 minsutes scratching my head, but after that it dove into the plot and kept me thoughly entertained.

Is it worth your $8-$10... YES. YES. Oh sweet baby Cthulhu yes!! I'd have to give this atleast 4 out of 5 stars. The begining is slow and can leave you going "Huh?" but gets WAY better. Also the geeky levels of awesome throughout the movie may not be for everyone.

Liberty's Edge

Yeah I like the concept and look of this. Wouldn't mind seeing it.

I got to see it Friday, and would like to see it two or three more times.

Sovereign Court

We watched it on Saturday and couldn't stop laughing. It was awesome, just like the comics were.

Honestly one of the best movies I've seen in quite a while.

To chime in with all the others:

It's the best movie I've seen in a long time, and I'll go see it again!

It made me happy!

I saw it on Monday... and I'm still in a good mood!

This movie was okay. I've never read the manga and I only saw one short trailer for this months ago so I walked in with zero expectations. I didn't really laugh at any of the jokes, but I understood why other people would find them funny. Scott was probably the least interesting character in the film, and I guess that works when you compare Scott to the protagonists in many of the games, which inspired this story. Video game heroes are often given little actual history or depth and serve only as a vehicle for getting the player from one stage to the next. That seems to sum up Scott Pilgrim pretty well. The only characters in the film I can think of with less depth than Scott were probably the Katayanagi Twins and the lesbian girl whose name I can't even remember. Scott's friends and the rest of the seven evil exes, on the other hand, were a lot of fun.

Alison Pill and Kieran Culkin as Kim and Wallace stole every scene they were in and Chris Evans and Satya Bhabha as Lucas Lee and Matthew Patel were great as scenery-chewing villains. Hell, Brandon Routh even managed to earn some forgiveness for Superman with his portrayal of Todd, the vegan Goku.

The music (with the exception of that Ramona song) is the other aspect of the movie that shines with The Clash at Demonhead's performance halfway through the film standing out as one of the best numbers in the production.

Overall, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is not bad. It didn't elicit the kind of laughs I got from Wright's previous work and Scott made for kind of a dull hero, but the supporting cast and the music saved the film from becoming forgettable. I won't rent this when it comes out on DVD but I would probably watch it again if somebody else paid for it or I saw it while flipping through channels.

Angry Review

Liberty's Edge

I found it kind of boring to be honest (although the wife loved it). The whole 7 ex thing pretty much guaranteed that the movie would be drawn out and repetitive to a certain extent. Also, i'm just not a big Michael Cera fan and that was compounded by the fact that he was miscast for this part (IMO).

I loved this movie, but have to agree that it starts slow and Scott was the most boring character in it. I also agree that if they changed Micheal Cera out for someone else it would undeniably make the movie 1000 times better.

Yes.

I've seen it twice, and will see it again tomorrow night. DBZ meets Moulin Rouge for the damn win.

Also, I've read the comic in the last week (FANTASTIC), and beaten the video game (which received a 5 out of 5 on X-Play). Music is awesome (half finished beck tracks...).

Seriously, don't let Eat, Pray, Love-RUN! beat this in the theaters.

I saw it a couple of days ago. Eh...wish I could say I loved it, but the best I can really say is that it had some amusing moments. I can accept lightsabers springing out of nowhere, I can accept Romona having a purse of holding that has a Maul of the Titans in it, etc...but having Micheal Cera kick anyone's ass goes far beyond the realms of plausibility for me.

He talks waaay too softly.

Thats putting it lightly..He speaks as if he's about to burst into tears every time.."look at me I'm a mopey insecure loser"

Having said that I couldn't believe how well he did for the animated segment...It's like he's a different person...
[Proof: Scott vs the animation ]
Also I agree x^n times with the previous poster who said that Cera is miscast as Scott..Scott is neither a geek nor a loser...he's an insensitive, lost in his own world slacker.

I finally got to see this movie... And I have to say...It was..

AMAZING!!!!!!!!

I think that was one of the best movies I have seen in my Adult life, the movie just floored me.

I felt a rush go through me as I watched it, it literally energized me!

Every line of the movie was absolute gold!

I started watching this as a rental, had to stop it mid way to go out and buy it on Blu-Ray, I had to own it, first movie I have ever done that for.

Others opinions may differ

Silver Crusade

Finally got to see it today.

Two things:

"Guess who's drunk?!"

"MIS-TER PILGRIIIIMMMMMM!!!!"

Matthew Patel is absolutely getting play in our games either as an NPC or PC in some form. There's no way around it.

It was goodfun. Honestly my only complaint is that it makes me even sadder that I completely missed out on River City Ransom. I hear the Scott Pilgrim game itself is fairly close in spirit at least. May be worth a look.

...can totally see how it bombed in theaters though. Going up against the Expendables didn't help...

Er, three things:

"I'm in lesbians with you."

One of the best comic book to movie adaptations I have ever seen. Up in my top three with Spiderman 2 and Kick-Ass.
