Any spell needed for creating a magic weapon?

Rules Questions

Can a magic weapon with simple enhancement-bonus created without providing a spell? Not even 'magic weapon'? The same question goes for magic armor with only enhancement-bonus.

No (answering your title).

(you really should be more consistent)

;)

Casting the correct spell is one of those requirements you can skip (by increasing the DC +5), so even a simple blacksmith who has no magic in him whatsoever can make magical weapons.

Note however that you cannot take the feats (Craft Magic Arms & Armor, Craft Wondrous Item, etc.) unless you have a certain caster level (each feat describes what caster level is required). There is a way around this by simply taking the Master Craftsman feat which allows non-casters to create armor, weapons, & wondrous items, but not other kinds of magic items (you must be a caster to take the feats to craft wands, staves, rods, rings, potions, & scrolls).

Also don't forget that you need to have a caster level = the enhancement bonus x3 when you craft weapons or armor. So to make a +3 sword you would need a caster level of 9 - and this is not a requirement you can ignore. The Master Craftsman feat lets you use your crafting skill instead of caster level, so you can get around this requirement too, but you still need the requisite number of ranks in your skill, so to make a +3 sword you would need at least 9 ranks in your Craft(Weaponsmithing) skill.

You also don't need a feat to enchant a bonded weapon. But that's mostly interesting for arcane dualists. Wizards don't het too much use out of most magic weapon effects.

Thanks. And you're right, I should ask my questions consistent. :-)
