Rules Questions

Just out of curiosity- could a summoner use a quadruped with the Bite evolution 2 extra times and have a creature like a chimera or Cerberus? Same with tail and bite?

Nope,
Another thing that was pointed out in the playtest, but never got addressed. You would need an 'extra head' evolution to allow extra bites.

Unless the evolution specifically says it can be bought multiple times, you can only buy it once.

If this is for a home game, you could use some of the extra evolutions I'm using in my game. I posted them here, if your GM allows it.

If it's PFS, then you're hosed, no way to make a cerberus or two-tailed monster in the core rules.

Doesn't it say in the bite evolution that you can take it again and then the bite gains 1.5x str mod to damage?

Yes, but you can't take it again and get two bite attacks, which is what the OP was asking about.

Take it twice and describe both heads biting in unison to explain the 1.5 str. Or dont take it at all and just say your eidolon has 15 heads -- it just provides no mechanical benefit.

I been thinking a about a multi-headed evo and I think 2pts for an extra head seems on par with leg and arm evos. Maybe add a perseption bonus or go three pts and include immunity to flank.

As for RAW Im a bit confuse about the Bite as it is. It says in the evolution descriptor that an evo can only be taken once unless otherwise note. The Bite evo does not say that it can be taken a second time or multiple times, so they either neglected to add that or the starting evos dont count against you allowing the eidolon who's base form comes with bite to gain the x1.5 ability from bite. If the later is the case then a serpent could get 2 tail.

Also when does the 1.5 multiply apply, always, or only when the attack is made as a primary? This seems to override the standing rule that 1.5 is only applied when it is your only attack. Does it also override the damage multiplier(.5) when using bite as a secondary attack combined with weapons attacks?

LOL,

I'm surprised at how many people come up with something so similar, yet it never made it into the rules. :)

Here's what I did :

2-Point Evolutions
Extra Head: The eidelon grows an extra head. The eidelon gains a +2 bonus to Perception checks. Additionally, the eidelon is harder to flank. Only a character with the the Uncanny Dodge ability can flank the eidelon. By spending 1 more evolution point, the eidelon may gain as many additional heads as the summoner wishes, and gains an additional +4 bonus to Perception. Any special senses the eidelon has are considered to be useable by all heads. The eidelon must still buy the Bite attack separately for each head the eidelon has.

You can see a list of other things I came up with here if you are interested.

I'd make it 2 evo points per head fullstop. I'd also drop the perception bonus. Multiple heads doesn't mean heightened perception. It just means you have more heads, and more eyes with the same skill at looking around and noticing things as the base creature.

Couple of problems with that :

A) 2 pts per head is way too expensive. For 4 points you can get a LARGE eidelon, bonuses to str, etc. Or fast heal. Two heads <> fast heal, increased size, etc.
B) To get the +6 to perception, you have to spend 3 evolution points. For 3 pts you can get Blindsense instead, which is almost always better than a flat +6 to perception. And please note, that extra heads come with extra brains to process the information, meaning you actually do process the information better (6 eyes, 6 ears, 3 noses, each set with it's own dedicated processor).

Although I know it is going to suck to wait that long I am sure a LOT of the little quirks and gaps in common sense will be shored up with Ultimate Magic and the new options available therein. I am certain there will be a decent new list of evolutions available to summoners to their eidolons along with maybe some new base forms to play around with.

Quite possible. But, and this is no slam of Paizo, they do good work, most of these gaps were pointed out repeatedly during the AGP playtest. I personally pointed out the issues with bird forms and extra heads and got a response from James (or was it Jason) on the post, so it is not as if the issues slipped through the cracks and nobody noticed or gave feedback on them (and I'm not saying that to puff up my importance, only to point out that I can vouch that those two specific issues were brought to the devs attention, I saw many others post on those and other issues as well). So them being fixed in UM is, to me, not a guarantee. And even if they are, fixing issues brought up during the AGP playtest in UM doesn't seem quite right.

Again, the above is not a slam of Paizo, they do good work. I'm just pointing out that getting 'fixes' is less likely than you might think, because apparently their is a difference of opinion on whether it's 'broken' or not, if you see what I'm trying to get at?
