Liberty's Edge

Just wondering if any Paizonites (Paizonians?) have dabbled in brewing their own beer? I just started and currently have 3 batches in fermentation. I have an American Amber and an Irish Red in secondary fermentation (the former set to be bottled Thursday!) and a hard cider in primary.

Sovereign Court

My dad and brother do it all the time, they have some kind of summer ale fermenting right now. I think Aberzombie homebrews too.

I'm suprised AZ hasn't posted here already.

Hooray for homebrewing! :D

Grand Lodge

It seems that was one of the first non-gaming things I learned on the Boards -- Lilith as a legendary Paizonian brewer.

Lilith, don't you bring quite a bit of mead and beer and such to various Cons to share with other Lords of the Boards?

I do lots of Homebrew campaigns and adventures... ;P

Zuxius is almost a pro in this matter (or a full pro?), lets hope he
wanders in soon

I thought (afterwards) that I should have specified...but alas, it was too late to change (if you can even change a thread's title).

I've been wanting to do it for awhile now, but haven't really had the funds to get started. Luckily, though, my mom doesn't see my being a married adult as a reason to not give me birthday presents. :D

If it turns out I am as good at it as I'd like to be, I might start looking into realizing my dream of opening a brewery or brewpub.

I'm not a homebrewer myself, but I do a lot of quality control sampling for a friend who is. ;)

I think my favorite so far was the licorice porter he did last winter. Though the marzen beer he made for my Oktoberfest party last year was pretty awesome too...

I just started Brewing my self, I have a Red Ale bottle conditioning right now. My Friend has been brewing a long time now thought he took 3rd place in Nationals with his Coconut Stout.

I'm right there with you, I am not a brewer myself but I gladly sample and purchase some great stuff at my local SCA events.

I'd very much love to learn how... Anyone have any good tips on how to start (I don't hear good things about the readymade kits though).

Some are not bad (caveat - I'm English, so I'm talking of kits from the UK) and produce acceptable results, if you sterilise your stuff thoroughly and keep the conditions right all through the fermentation.

Not as of yet - that has been Zuxius. I've only brought cookies thus far.

So I just bottled my first batch of beer. I had a little bit left over that I tasted and it looks like it's going to be exceptional :D. I'm surprised i managed to not screw the pooch on it lol.

I do my own wine, and I have promiced some friends I'm going to make some apple-mead at some point

the principles are simple, and once you have "got" them, to experiment and make other things are easy!
