Cooperative Crafting Feat

Rules Questions

At the end of the description for this new feat it says, "...your assistance doubles the gp value of items that can be crafted each day."

What does this mean?

Normally you can only craft 1000 gp worth of magic items per day. I believe potions and scrolls this is less, but can't remember number off the top of my head. So with two people working on an item, you could make 2000 gp worth of progress on an item a day.

With fast crafting (+5 DC) this would make for 3000gp per day. Quite respectable.

Not sure where you are getting the 1000gp per day.

The rules for crafting are here

Here's how the feat works.

Bob Blacksmith has Craft(Armor) at a total +12. Amy Assistant has the feat in question, and Craft(Armor) as well. Amy assists Bob.

Bob makes a DC check to make Full Plate armor this week (1500 gp, or 15000 sp). He rolls a 15. Adding 15 to 12 is 27. This is then multiplied by the DC of the object (19 for the full plate, which is 10+AC bonus). 27 x 19 is 513 sp for the week. This is about 1/30th what he needs, which means normally Bob would take about 30 weeks to make Full Plate.

However, with Amy assisting, he doubles that to 1026 sp, or 102.6 gp. At this rate, he'll have the full plate made in 15 weeks.

For faster crafting, you voluntarily add +10 (not +5) to the DC. This would make it 29. Since Bob only has +12, that's not safe, he will likely fail more often. So that's probably not a good thing to do. If instead he had 19 in Craft Armor, he could take 10 and produce 29*29 per week, or 841sp per week. With Amy helping, that would be 1681sp per week, and it would take about 8 weeks to make the armor.

When Bob's finished the armor, he immediately starts crafting the MW component, which is only 300gp (or 3000sp). It has a DC of 20. He could take 10 with his 12 and get 20*22, or 440sp per week. Amy would double that to 880sp per week, or about another 3.5 weeks of work.

EDIT : Ah, misread the post. Magic Items, sorry. Yes, Magic Items are 1000gp per day, and doubled to 2000gp, and etc. Sorry, long weekend. Too much Darvacet.
