I loved my Hell's Rebels interactive maps. I am now running Hell's Vengeance. I'd love to drop some cash on interactive maps for the campaign but I cant seem to locate the maps on the Paizo website. Am I missing them or are they simply not available?

GM Arkwright wrote:
Depends how villainous and evil the guild members are. I'd be inclined to put 'refuse to kill unconscious enemies' as under 'personal code' than 'alignment-determining act'.

That is a good question about the disposition of the guild. The PCs really know nothing about the guild. All they know is that their leader tried to leave the PCs for dead by sealing them in an underground tomb. It was also suggested that the leader is not a nice guy. He has allegedly stolen his family fortune from his sister and apologetically slapped her in the face. Furthermore, it seems that the leader killed another person by leaving them for dead in the same tomb that was used to trap the PCs.

An adventuring group breaks into the underground lair of a local thieves guild. While searching around the underground complex for a villainous rogue that tried to kill the party, the PCs stumble across a room of 7 sleeping humans, likely members of the guild. One PC wants to steal the sleeping humans' weapons and close the door. Another PC wants to quietly kill them all in their sleep.

Question: In this scenario, is killing the sleeping humans an evil act? I'm curious what other players/ DMs think about this. Alignment is often difficult to pinpoint because it is so subjective and situational. Any thoughts would be helpful.

Interesting. Ability scores and current gear (if any) would be helpful. If the character is being made from scratch, then you're merely working the barbarian levels into your background.

Are there any limitations on source materials, i.e. are 3rd party publishers' materials permitted?

I can use 3rd party materials if the DM allows it. He is pretty open. My PC's stats are 16 str, 12 dex, 15 con, 10 int 16 Wis 13 cha. I have 108,000gp to spend on gear.
Nice. Race is?

A Quickened Divine Favor... you're a genius. I knew coming to message boards would be a good idea. Thanks!

Why is he doing this, that sounds pretty obnoxious. Do you have the stats to be a melee monster? You may need to focus on offense. It can synergize, but it's not idea. Buff yourself and concentrate on out of combat healing. But if you're not pleased about it you should figure out why it's happening and discuss it with your GM.

Thanks for the advice. I think he is trying to challenge me, and it fits into the storyline of the campaign. Still, this is the toughest build I have been faced with. I fear that my PC will be slain (again) in short order. I suppose I could buff first then rage afterwards, but then if any party members need healing, my PC will be unable to assist.

Can a cleric channel or cast while raging?

Long story short: My PC is 9 levels of cleric. Now I need to take 3 levels of barbarian. How do I make a PC that is not a ridiculous sub-par healer while the rest of the party plays the game?

Any feat suggestions? Any build suggestions? The DM said I could re-tool my cleric levels if I want.

Thanks man.

I have chosen the Tower Shield Specialist archetype but I am not clear on one point. It says:

"Tower Shield Defense (Ex)

At 9th level, while using a tower shield, a tower shield specialist gains his shield bonus against touch attacks.

This ability replaces weapon training 2."

Do I apply the shield AC bonus to both types of touch attacks (ranged and touch)?

Can metamagic feats be applied to a cleric's domain spells? If so, does a higher level domain spell slot get used?

It says in the new APG that if you take the new Magical Lineage trait you are able to reduce one spell by 1 when you apply any metamagic feats. Ok, is the following legal?

A 14th level evoker takes the magical lineage trait and chooses magic missile as his spell. He wants to memorize a maximized, empowered, intensified magic missile. Here is how I calculate the damage:

7d4+7 (because of the intensified feat) x 1.5 (empowered)
plus
35 (maximized)
plus
7 (evocation class feature)

For a total of about 56 damage.

Now, due to the magical lineage trait, what is the spell slot needed to memorize this spell? Is the slot reduced by 1 or is it reduced by one for every metamagic feat applied? Do I use 7th level slot or a 4th level slot?

There are rings of swimming and jumping, right? Is it conceivable to craft an amulet that gives a +10 competence bonus to spellcraft checks?

Does a skill enhancing item need to be a ring?

Is giving a bonus to spellcraft an unreasonable idea?

Comments/ opinions?

At the end of the description for this new feat it says, "...your assistance doubles the gp value of items that can be crafted each day."

What does this mean?

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

Is there a rational reason why it is easier to create a flesh golem (required caster level 8) than it is to create the weaker ice and wood golems (Both required caster level 12th) in the Bestiary?

Also, to gain the create golem feat, you need to be fifth level, yet, you can only start making golems around 8th level. What the crap? Is this a typo or just an oversight?

Thanks so much, Jeremy. Like I said, it was the coolest game concept that was at Paizocon this year. I was sad that we all died, but really stoked about trying this out with my friends.

Getting the Risen Beneath the Ice ticket was the luckiest part of Paizocon for me. Thats saying alot, considering I got to play in Erik Mona's totally awesome Spire of Nex adventure. Thanks for the well conceived game concept.

If you can, I would love to see any info you have on this module that you ran. Email me what you can, including the pregens at ninja3030@gmail.com.

Thanks again, sir.

Lieutenant Dorkis

Jeremy Walker DMed a killer game at Paizocon called Risen Beneath the Ice. I need to find this guy so I can get a memento of the game in the form of the pregens he built. The game was really well designed and merits a rehash at the local level up here in Canada.

Does anyone know how to get in contact with this guy?

I played Rizen beneath the Ice at Paizocon. Sure, we were using D&D minis to represent WW2 soldiers and sure, we all died in glorious TPK style, but the game was still quite awesome.

I want to track down the guy that ran this game. I want to email him to request a copy of the pregen character sheets that he made for us. I want to try and duplicate the awesomeness of this game for my local gaming group.

Anyone know who this guy is and how to contact him?

I will build a sneaky-type rogue. Perhaps a halfling. -Heavy on the stealth, perception and trap removal skills.

I'm in on this one as well. I have never been to a convention like this, so I am not sure what to expect. I suppose I just make a guy and bring it to the con?

All I know is some guy named Eric is running the game and that there is a spire in there somewhere. I'll watch this thread to see if any details are shared in regard to character creation.

Sounds like an alright game. I like the fact that it runs for a long time. In fact, that's why I picked this event.

I am looking forward to playing.

"Tiefling sorcerers with the Abyssal or Infernal bloodline treat their Charisma score as 2 points higher for all sorcerer class abilities."

Treat your charisma as if it were 2 higher for anything that involves being a sorcerer. Spellcasting, bonus spells, DCs, Spell Like abilities, pretty much all of it.

Does this count for class skills, too?

So I am making a teifling sorcerer. Under the description of teiflings, it says that teiflings get Fiendish Sorcery. This apparently gives teifling sorcerers (with the abysal or infernal bloodline) a +2 to their Cha for all sorcerer class abilities.

What are the sorcerer class abilities? All I see are class abilities and class features.

Does this feat work for ranged touch attacks?

For example, a wizard casts scorching ray at 3rd level. The wizard rolls a 13 to successfully hit the ranged touch opponent's touch AC. If the wizard had Deadly Aim, would he be able to apply 2 extra points of damage to his 4d6 scorching ray spell at the expense of -1 to hit?

Are you using the lance in both hands?

If so, 3d8+21. If not, 3d8+15.

Ok, this brings up another question:

In the same scenario, what would the damage be if you were using the lance in two hands and you were using power attack (8th level)?

Here is the scenario:

You are a human fighter charging the enemy on horseback. You hit the enemy with a +1 lance. You have the Spirited Charge feat. Your Strength is 18. How do you calculate damage?

Is it 3d8+ 5?
Is it 1d8+5 x3?
Is it 1d8+5 plus 1d8+5 plus 1d8+5?

I am flying into Seattle for the first time for PaizoCon. Is there a bus from the airport to Belvue or should I take a cab? Whats the best way to get from the airport in Seattle to PaizoCon (besides greater teleport)? I would ask at the airport but my gather information, er, diplomacy check sucks.

The description of damage under the strength category (pg. 16) is a little confusing.

1d8-1, with a minimum of 1 damage.

Ok, how about a halfling rogue that has a strength of 5?

Lets say the little guy sneak attacks (3d6) a teenager? Would the damage be 1d3-3 plus 3d6 or 1d3 plus 3d6 minus 3?

What if the same halfling successfully sneak attacked a different teenager but with a +2 dagger? When do you apply the -3 to damage?

Would it be 1d3-3 plus 3d6 plus 2?

Does this item increase your speed even if you are wearing armor that would reduce your speed?

Would an unencumbered human paladin wearing heavy armor have a speed of 20 or 30 while wearing boots of striding and springing?

It's gonna cost me around 900 bucks and a weekend to go to Paizo con. I hope that this sacrifice of time and money is sufficent to get a few pictures and locks of hair, even if I do not subscribe to the magazine... yet.
