Split Eidolon

I'm trying to come up with a way for a Summoner to have two Eidolons and I need some advice. I'm thinking there should be a feat that allows you to do so, but I can't decide whether it should be two base forms with less Evo points or two lesser forms with full Evo points.

Example with arbitrary numbers:

Let's say at some point a Summoner gets to summon an Eidolon with 10HD and 20 EP. Should Split Eidolon give him 2 10 HD Eidolons with 10-15 EP each, or two 5-8 HD Eidolons with 20 EP each?

Two, er.... that can be a bit of a sticky whicket as it were. It takes a Summoner all his concentration to summon one Eidolon, let alone two. I think it would make the character in question a bit powerful, even in the points were split down the middle between the two.

I'd say 2 10 HD with only 10 EP.

So they have same hps, but low abilities (evolutions).

Issue: Magic items (would the ediolons share same slot like Summoner does?)

I'd hardly say it takes all of a summoner's concentration to summon his eidolon, given the fact that he can dance around the battlefield casting spells and hitting stuff while the eidolon is out. I'm just trying to find the break even point where 2 eidolons and 1 eidolon are roughly equal.

So at 20, that'd be two 15HD eidolons with 13 EvoPoints to spend between them. Maybe we should build some eidolons to test this out, making them as similar as we possibly can and run them against each other. That might help us find the tipping point.

And yeah, I'd say any restriction that currently applies between summoner and eidolon would apply to all three.

Well it must, or why cannot they use Summon Monster, and subsequent lvls there of, as well as have their Eidolon out? Having more then one Eidolon out at a time can easily break the Summoner into something that a min maxer or munchkin would drool over.

Ah, that's right. I still have yet to receive my print copy of the APG, so I'm still making do with my playtest PDF.

Do you have any thoughts on the matter of how weak must an eidolon be for two of them to be a viable option?

Once you get the APG, check out the Beastmaster Ranger Archtype. If you're doing something where you get multiple eidolons, it should work similarly.

Basically, you'd divide your summoner levels between however many eidlolons you were taking.

A generous DM might also allow the Boon Companion feat from Seekers of Secrets to work with the summoner as well. That one allows you to increase your level by up to 4 for a particular companion.

If all of the above are allowed, you could have a 10th level summoner with an even level split between his eidolons and take Boon Companion for each to make them 9th level.

Assuming you spent the 3 feats (Split Eidolon + Boon Companion(x2)), at 20th level you could have two 14th level eidolons or one 20th and one 8th level eidolon.

Wow, you know what they say about great minds... I was pondering the same idea this morning, when I saw this piece of artwork: http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs30/f/2008/095/c/a/WOW_L5R_by_GENZOMAN.jpg
There's a race in the Dragon magazine compendium which is essentially a pair of twins sharing the same soul, which has them sharing hit points from hit dice, spells etc. That one was mostly balanced by each twin having fairly low hp, and identical stats. For an eidolon, i'd say it would be fair for each evolution to have be taken twice too...
It would be pretty hard to balance in any case, I'd probably end up having to work out some kind of arrangement with the GM and re-evaluate every few levels, because it has potential to tip either way
