Ill Omen - Need clarification

Rules Questions

I'm not sure I understand the rules for the Ill Omen spell (APG pg 229).

Spell description:
Duration: 1 round / level
You afflict the target with bad luck. On the next d20 roll the target makes, it must roll twice and take the less favorable result. For every five caster levels you have, the target must roll twice on an additional d20 roll (to a maximum of five rolls at 20th level).

"On the next d20 roll the target makes..."
So if the target uses a full-round attack to make five consecutive attacks, only the FIRST of those five attacks is affected and he rolls normally for the other four attacks?

"For every five caster levels you have, the target must roll twice on an additional d20 roll (to a maximum of five rolls at 20th level)"
So if the Witch is lv 10, that same enemy would have re-roll three of those five attacks?

Am I understanding this properly?

I think you are, that is how I read it.

Liberty's Edge

Further question:

If the target attempts a Spellcraft check to identify the spell, that check discharges the spell, if the caster is 9th level or lower. If the caster is 14th level or lower, the target can use a move action on his next to finish discharging the spell.

Spellcraft identifies a spell as it is being cast, so Ill Omen doesn't begin affecting rolls until after the spellcraft check.

However, if you're trying to do the old ill omen -> some awful save-or-suck spell combo, then yeah, attempting to identify the second spell would discharge ill omen. Which kind of stinks, but at least at 5th level they have to reroll both.

The Concordance

Can Spellcraft be used to identify a witch's hex?

No, but Knowledge (Arcana) can be used to identify active class features of arcane spellcasting classes via the Recall Intrigues function (Spymaster's Handbook pg. 9).

If you were hit by ill omen, you could suddenly decide to ask your GM what your character knows about Andoran parliament members from 100 years ago. I wouldn't recommend trying this, though. } : D

If you're hit by a spell you can make a knowledge (arcana) check to identify to identify a spell that just targeted you. Also works on it.

The Concordance

Well, I won't be able to cast Ill Omen as a swift action until 9th level.
