What is your favorite part of the APG?

Product Discussion

So there has been a fair amount of discussion of things that were ill recieved in the new APG, and I though I was/am among those who found things we didnt like, there is still loads of good stuff in this book. I am floored by the quality, and really pleased by whats in here.

So, what do you like the most?

For me, though its not an easy choice, I have to choose the feats, all of them. I have never seen such concentrated awesome before in my life. I was reading through it yesterday seeing if there was anything interesting there for the 3 characters im currently playing of for the NPCs in the game I'm running. And well, I wanted to use almost all of them. I cant remember ever looking through any product and just wanting to use almost every single feat in some form or another. I really look forward to getting to use them and the rest of the book.

I too am a big fan of nearly every feat I've heard about (even SHARP SENSES which is terrific for anyone min/maxing their Perception skill), particularly ADDITIONAL ARCANA, PREFERRED SPELL, BOUNCING SPELL, and INTENSIFIED SPELL. If you haven't figured it out by now, I'm also a big fan of anything that helps spellcasters out, such as the new Human/Sorcerer favored class bonus (that increases versatility with extra spells known).

I'm incredibly satisfied with the APG. In many ways, reading it for the first time reminds me of reading the 3.0 PHB when it was released. New, exciting, robust and full of possibility.

I love that Paizo's added new combat maneuvers, particularly Dirty Trick, and the two iconic classes, witch and alchemist.

The archetypes are amazing, and practically eliminate my need to return to the WOTC Complete series of books. I love how some archetypes leverage features from classes in the WOTC Complete series (e.g., the Rogue (archetype Scout) captures the essence of the Complete Adventure's Scout; and the Bard (archetype Sandman) captures the essence of the Spellthief). As such, I don't feel like I've lost anything by moving further away from 3.5 to Pathfinder.

In addition, the archetypes allow PCs to venture into new areas yet untapped by WOTC books (e.g., detective, crossbowman), and without the burden/wait associated with Prestige Classes or special feats.

I'm blown away by the thoughtfulness that went into developing this book. None of it feels forced, cheezy, or vapid. Thanks Paizo!

For me I'm loving the alternate class features. The Bard for example is awesome. I was never a fan of the core Bard but with these class feature changes the Bard is cool. The fighter ones were just as impressive. The Two Handed Fighter is a Monster and Two Weapon fighter make 2 weapon fight all that much better.

I really like the new spells that they added. I can't wait to use Spiked Pit at next Tuesday's PFS session :)

I'm looking forward to playing an Alchemist and a Bard with one of the alternate class features. I'm drawn to PC's with lots of skill points.

Is all of it an acceptable response?

I have to agree. +1 for the return of kits, which was one of the things I really missed about 2nd edition.

So hard to choose! I <3 it all!

The archetypes, the feats, the spells, the new combat maneuvers.

I also like having the basic and race traits in a dead-tree format.

When I mentioned the Bard's "Finale" spells, a friend of mine proclaimed that it was the best thing to happen to the bard's spell list - ever.

Yeah, paizo is working extra hard to really make me want to play a bard again. =)

I'm a huge fan of the APG, it allows you to make subtle and easy changes to characters, while adding a host of new options. Particularly a fan of the archetypes and base classess, though the new spells are just fun, solid note is great!

They did promise they were going to try and do that. Bard and Barbarian got a lot of love in the APG, and I am pleased to see it. I might actually play one of the two for the first time in 10 years...

Five Words: Monk of the Healing Hand.

I freaking love that guy's capstone!
