Running an Eberron Campaign with Pathfinder Rules

Advice

Dark Archive

I'm looking for general advice on running an Eberron game with Pathfinder rules.

What might be some major and minor problem points?
Advice on converting the four "new" races.
How to handle things like Dragonmarks. (If indeed they need changing)

Anything else you might think of?

I do it, and there are not any issues. You just have to decide whether the pathfinder rules or Eberron rules take precedence. As an example do your clerics have to be within one step of the deity's alignment.

It is not different than running a 3.5 game with Eberron rules thrown in. You might want to convert the Eberron races to your liking. There are a few threads on that in the conversion sub-forum though. I took what I liked and mixed and matched a few until I got something I wanted. The dragonmarks are full of flavor, but mechanically nobody I game with likes using a feat for them. I generally use them as reward for players and/or plot devices. Ok, so I have yet to give anyone a dragonmark, but I plan too one day.

I also allow players to bring a deity over from Golarion if they like. While Forgotten Realms had too many deities sometimes I feel like Eberron needs more of them, IMHO.

I never really considered using Dragonmarks like that. They could also be used as a Character Trait, possibly using up both picks.

I agree with the importing of Golarion Deities. Of course in Eberron Clerics can pretty much follow a philosophy as well. So that works well.

I'll probably not use the Kalashtar. No one I know ever played them, and I didn't care much for Sarlona anyway. So that can remove Psionics from the setting.

Thanks for the info and ideas.

There are a few specific rules which you will need to convert. I have an ongoing game on these boards and we converted when PFRPG came out. I think the relevant pages of our discussion are here and the specific house rules are here. They are specific to the campaign and not a full suite of conversion rules, but they may be useful as on-the-fly rulings to get round a few issues.

Thanks for sharing that Aubrey. I'll look into your links now.

I worked on this set of updates for Eberron in Pathfinder, and this is a version of the artificer class updated for Pathfinder. You might also want to look at DSP's work on psionics for Pathfinder.

Awesome! This is good stuff, Dabbler! Thanks for the info. You've done a wonderful job on the Races and the Artificer. I'm gonna read the Psionics stuff later, as its a bit more to digest, but I bet It'll be great.

Thank you! These are just my interpretations, of course, but if they save you some work that's great!
