Hey there,

Maybe it's just me but since last sunday, every pages on the Paizo site take at least 20 secs to load.

I'm on an Intel mac using the Safari browser

The server's been having issues lately. Not sure what the issue is--hopefully that it's we're all becoming blindingly popular. ;) Or, at least, Paizo is. :)

Liberty's Edge

I suspect that increased traffic due to Pathfinder's growing popularity might indeed be part of the cause.

Unfortuately, the site is getting slower and slower - almost to the point of being unusable in the afternoon! I mean, it's getting REALLY bad!

My big concern (and I say this from an unabashed Paizo / Pathfinder fan's perspective) is that as more new people come to the site, especially when the APG comes out, many will be turned off and frustrated by the site's sometimes painfully slow performance lately and may just not return! And, as more and more new people come to the site, does that mean the performance issues will increase even more? I would hate for Paizo to lose potential new fans / customers due to the site's lack of speed. I really hope that Gary, Vic, Lisa and co. are putting as much of their already stretched resources into resolving the issue asap. I know GenCon is Priority One right now, but I think the slow web site should pretty much be Priority TWO.

It's priority one for Gary, who is the only one who can actually fix it. He thinks he's worked out what the issues are, and is implementing changes as quickly as he can. (I think he said something about having to replace the dilithium crystals.)

Nah... before he replaces the dilithium crystals he should try and reverse the polarity. Make sure he tries a shoulder roll when he enters the IT room. That usually helps too!

Reverse the polarity of the neutron flow. That always works.

Why don't you try Wesley's experimental plasma inverter instead?

I've been watching TNG reruns lately :P

PMG obviously now would be a good time to redesign the download page so everything works better. I am sure that will help. (Hey mine hasn't shipped yet so take as long as that takes) ;)

Brigadier, I'd thought you'd be suggesting Five Rounds Rapid to the chap with the wings, there.

Actually, having just downloaded my APG, it looks like they HAVE redesigned the download page.

And I realized doing that that THAT was why everything's been so slow--the server's being spammed by a billion people downloading the APG.

What would be the cost/feasibility of putting the store/downloads on a server separate from the message board?

The Doctor keeps telling me that I have to stop shooting everything that moves. I keep insisting that that's not what I do, but he just won't listen. At any rate, he says reversing the polarity of the neutron flow is the way to go here, so I'm just passing the information on.

Oh, and chap with the wings there, five rounds rapid.

Actually they are on different servers already. The major change we did yesterday to the My Downloads page related to optimizing how those servers talk to each other to remove some bottlenecks.

You might have an infestation of database gerbils. Try luring them out with digitized pictures of peanut butter.

Pretty sure those gerbils are the ones powering the servers. But you're right, more peanut butter probably couldn't hurt.

PMG stop having LAN parties in the office well we are trying to download our books (or will be on that glorious day when mine actually ships). ;)

Sovereign Court

the lag on the site is getting unbelievable of late, I'm literally clicking the link on the messageboard I want to read, then opening new tabs and looking at other sites to kill time while I wait for this site to load.
