iPad and iPhone Apps

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Hey all, this is mostly for the folks who own Piazo. I didnt know if you knew or not but a company called ufisk has created a pathfinder app for the iPad and iPhone and is selling it through the Apple store for $4.99 each.

I dont know if they are associated with you guys or not, they dont state whether they are or not. The app contains most of the information from the core Pathfinder rules, including monsters. It seems to me that this cuts deep into your main sales of the hardbound books and even more into the pdf sales.

Just wanted to let knows know. Thanks.

That would be the PFR and it's been discussed here before. The app's writer even posted here to let us know it was available. It's tied into the D20pfsrd.com (which is a truely cool site.)

As far as I know, its all ok under the OGL. As a matter of fact d20pfsrd.com is up for an Ennie award this year.

I wonder if there will support the the Android phones as well?

We've made the rules available as Open Content under the OGL, so as long as they don't use any of our trademarks (like "Pathfinder" or "Paizo"), it's legal.

Vic, you've made your slight of hand check. You successfully slipped the correct spelling of your company into the thread, both answeering and educating the OP.

Gain a level!

Well, so far I've sold just below 750 copies of the PFR app during the 15 weeks it's been available. Thus, cutting deep into main sales, is probably a bit of an exaggeration :-)

As far as I can tell from user feedback, everybody already owns the book, and are looking for software to aid them in looking up a single rule quickly.

In fact, I've probably just passed the point where I've started making any money on the app, after subtracting the 30% tax to Apple and the hours spent programming.

But hey, I initially made the app for my own personal use, being a big Pathfinder fan myself, as both DM and player! Watch out for the next version coming out in a week! It is iPad-enabled!

I'm one of your under-750 buyers. I got it for one purpose: fast rules lookup at the table. It's a lot quicker than flipping open the index and hunting what you want and then paging to it.

That said... Do see if you can make it faster :D

Ditto, thanks for making this thomax...being a programmer myself, I do not envy you now that you have this out there though. ;)

And 30%? Dang. Didn't realize it was that high!

Ha! Yeah, I picked up the app right after it came out (and cost like 6 bucks). I only got it to have easy access to the core rules wherever I was. Also, being able to quickly search a spell or specific rule is hella handy.

Having also made a 3.5 app for iphone that I never got around to migrating to PFRPG because the app mentioned in this thread is better, unless one is a big mobile shop, one tends to develope for the platform you want it on. So my guess is, that someone else will have to come along and do the android version.
