This floor is divided in half by a wall and there seems to be no door to the other side. Though I just saw Variel's Perception check...
The scroll from the black altar contains the divine spell shatter. The scroll from the white altar contains the divine spell shield other.
While Kendrick is examining the scrolls Variel moves around the room thoroughly checking all the corners and walls. The north eastern wall of the southern wing as a secret door built into it. Unfortunately it is locked again.
Variel Galadon
"Well what do we have here?" Variel says as he examines the secret door, looking traps and seeing what is needed to pick the lock.
Perception (traps):1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Disable Device (trap - if needed)1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Disable Device (lock)1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Looks like I might be taking another javalin in the gut...

Belros is able to easy force his way through the well hidden door. The section of wall it was pretending to be gives way revealing the other half of this level. Though most of this area has fallen down below. There is a narrow strip of floor left near the central stairwell that leads to the rest of the northern wing.
Variel Galadon
Variel will carefully peer around the staircase to see what lies on the other side.
Stealth (if needed):1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Perception:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
As he stubs his toe on a rock and yells "ouch!"...It's gotten to be almost comical how bad Variel's rolls are.

A living, moving fabric seems to cover the ceiling of this half-collapsed
chamber, which stretches northwest into darkness. The pungent smell of ammonia rises from the droppings that litter the floor. A colony of bats roosts on the ceiling of this room. The movement of Variel in the chamber disturbs them and they begin flying about forming two swarms.
Kaldar (S) 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
Kendrick (K) 1d20 ⇒ 5
Variel (G) 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
bat swarms 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
(11) bat swarms
(8) Belros
(7) Variel
(5) Kendrick
(27) When he hears the clamor of the bats Kaldar moves through the secret door. He looks down at his bow a bit dejectedly and up at thousands of tiny creatures, "Variel, get back inside, we can't hurt those so many bats if they attack us!"
(11) Hundreds of high-pitched squeaks fill the air as two masses of small, carnivorous bats surges forth, all of them hungry for blood. One of the swarms swirls around Variel engulfing him. The other fills the area outside the door near Kaldar.
Swarm Damage vs. (G); 1d6 ⇒ 5 (Var HP 3)
Fort vs. Distraction; 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20 Saved!
Swarm Damage vs. (S); 1d6 ⇒ 5 (Kal HP 7)
Fort vs. Distraction; 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20 Saved!
It2s an alchemist's favorite enemy! A swarm!
Round 1, bat swarms (map)
Belros Verzar
LOL, so does he get the bonus damage as well;)
"Variel! let me go inside first next time I lead for a reason" as he claps his armor "Asmomdeus don't let them die before they hold their end of our bargain"
Round 1
I move into the room to Q-14 to attack the Swarm
Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Damage 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Round 1, bat swarm
(8) "Variel! let me go inside first next time I lead for a reason," as he claps his armor "Asmomdeus don't let them die before they hold their end of our bargain" Belros moves forward and his sword whistles harmlessly through the swarm. The bats are too small and too many, they flow around the blade like water.
(7) Variel moves out of the bat swarm. He quickly readies a bomb turns around and hurls it at the swarm.
Bomb Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 (Hit! Too bad you can't critical a swarm)
Damage; 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 9 damage!
You actually can't aim for a square IN a creature, even a swarm, it counts as an attack on that creature's touch AC instead.
The blast of fire sears through the creatures. They fall in droves but there's still hundreds of them.
(5) Kendrick looks carefully through the door at his comrades.
(27) Finding himself covered in bats Kaldar retreats back through the secret door.
(11) Variel and Kaldars' wounds continue to bleed freely. (Variel HP 2) (Kaldar HP 6)
In a swirl of singed flesh and sulfar the bats close in on Variel.
Swarm Damage vs. (G); 1d6 ⇒ 3 (Var HP -1, unconcious)
Fort vs. Distraction; 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 Failed! (Variel is now nauseated)
The bats continuously attack Variel from all angels. They're rubbery writhing flesh and sharp piercing teeth cause the alchemist to become overcome by nausea. He's actually driven to the ground by the pain and passes out.
Swarm Damage vs. (V); 1d6 ⇒ 1 (Belros HP 15, unconcious)
Fort vs. Distraction; 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 Saved!
The bats attacking Belros are little more than a bother. They seem to have trouble getting through his armor. The stalwart warrior shrugs them off.
Seeing that three people have been wounded by the bats and one of them even passed out Kendrick lifts his holy symbol again and pleads to Iomedae for intervention.
Channel Positive Energy; 1d6 ⇒ 2
(Variel HP 1, prone and nauseated)
(Kaldar HP 8)
(Belros HP 16)
Kendricks Initiative is now set to right after the swarms. Sorry no map for now, at work. Will have one later tonight. Ken and Kal are safe in the room, there's basically a ton of bats on the other side of the wall.

Round 2, bat swarms
(8) Belros stands bravely over the fallen alchemist swinging his sword wildly through the clouds of bats. The blade doesn't seem to have any effect though.
(7) Variel crawls weakly along the ground, barely pulling himself back into the tower.
(27) With his hand on the door Kaldar calls out, "Belros, they're too small, your blade won't hurt them. Get back in here!"
(11) The diminutive creatures continue to furiously attack Belros.
Swarm Damage vs. (V); 1d6 ⇒ 1 (Belros HP 15)
Fort vs. Distraction; 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 Saved!
The fighters well made armor continues to prevent most of their attacks.
Most of the bats that had been attacking Variel have begun to scatter and fly off into the night.
The cleric grips his holy symbol, deep in prayer and concentration. Another wave of holy energy bursts forth.
Channel Positive Energy; 1d6 ⇒ 5
(Variel HP 6, prone)
(Kaldar HP 12)
(Belros HP 16)
They really don't like bombs, normal weapons are ineffective though.
Brother Kendrick
Brother Kendrick will move among his companions checking their wounds. "Variel, make sure you keep those wounds clean. If you should start to feel flushed or sick tell me immediately. I have no idea what kind of pestilence the bites of those vermin might carry."
Satisfied no one is currently near death, he adds,
"Belros, I understand your reluctance to fall back in the face of a foe, but it was the right decision in this instance. Most of our weapons were ineffective against the swarms, and Variel was being eaten alive. My companions, both Variel and myself have used much of our energy during our explorations, but so long as your stamina holds out Kaldar and Belros remain as ready as ever. I believe I have enough to continue for a small time. Shall we explore further up the staircase? Variel, what are your thoughts?
Belros Verzar
"Variel you are yet stronger than you look at least in spirit, there is no need to push yourselves that far, if you truly wish for it let us continue" glances at Kendrick "I know your advice was good that's why I followed that doesn't mean I have to like it" turns around to lead towards the next floor "Well shall we move gentlemen"

Variel Galadon
Variel checks the door for locks and traps. And listens for anything on the other side.
Perception (listen):1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Perception (door locks and traps):1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Disable Device (trap - if needed):1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Disable Device (lock - if needed):1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
EDIT: ok the crap roll thing is really starting to get annoying.
Mastermind
The door is not locked or trapped. You can hear troglodyte voices speaking in draconic on the other side of the door. They are loudly discussing how nice it is to have moved into the tower rather than the caves. One of them mentions a prisoner and how it's about time Tulok and Tasskar let them eat him.
Belros Verzar
If the door is not locked then
Grabs the door to open it and slams it open "Evening to you! I heard you have someone to give me or your lives instead?" as he points his sword to the one he thinks was speaking "Well.. I haven't got all night and you only have moments"
Intimidate check to one fo them 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Fortitude save for the stench 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Mastermind
Cause that's kind of funny, I'll assume Variel translated what he heard through the door.
Crude bunks line the walls of this room, which is filled with the nauseating stench of troglodytes. Three of the creatures stand in the middle of the room. Despite not being able to understand Belros his threatening stance and tone of voice has cause the trog in the middle to become shaken. After making his threat the terrible stench rolls into the stairwell.
Kaldar Fort Save; 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19 Saved!
Kendrick Fort Save; 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 Failed.
Variel Fort Save; 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 Failed.
Kendrick and Variel find themselves suddenly sickened and gagging on the terrible smell coming down the stairs.
Kaldar (S) 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Kendrick (K) 1d20 ⇒ 16
Variel (G) 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
young troglodytes 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
(22) young troglodytes
(19) Belros
(16) Kendrick
(8) Variel
Round 1
Fourth Floor, young troglodytes
(28) As Kaldar is a few steps down the stairs and it's difficult to pass anyone without falling down the stairwell he decides to wait and see what the others do.
(22) The shaken troglodyte runs over to the southern door and begins to pound on it. He calls out in draconic, "Tulok! Theresss men here, intruderss!
The other two let out growling hisses and approach the door. The one directly infront of the door swipes a claw at Belros.
Claw: 1d20 ⇒ 17 Miss.
The second tries to attack around the frame of the door.
Claw: 1d20 ⇒ 12 Miss.
At work again, situation is the same as the previous map, but now there is a trog in front of the door and one to the left of it.
