"Well let's open the door and see what's making all that noise, unless you want to sneak and peek into the room"


Stealth check? Or volunteer to open the door?


Shrugging Variel opens the door with Kendrick and his sunrod standing nearby. Judging from the shelves lining the walls, this darkened room might once have been a storeroom, though its contents have long since succumbed to the passage of time. A crack in the northern wall has apparently let in some rainwater, which has collected in large puddles on the floor.

Standing in between two puddles is a dog-sized lizard with two horns, one on either side of its head, and green scales that crackle with sparks of lightning.

That reminds me of the saying, "Never pick up a duck in a dungeon."

After Belros steps into the room the lizard begins hiss, waves of electricity rolling along it's back. The air is sharp with ozone. It hunkers down on all fours making an aggressive display.

Stands in an intimidating way "Stand down you beast!!"as he commands the beast with all the authority he can to make it submit.

Yes I know, ha ha ha I'll be sorry for this, but my character wont take a threat from a mindless punny animal that can shock me to death from my metal armor and pools of water

Variel loads his crossbow in preparation for a fight.

Brother Kendrick hoists a javelin in his right hand and prepares to throw.

The shocker lizard begins to whine. It spins in a circle before laying on it's back showing it's yellow belly to Belros.

LOL! It actually worked I wwas thinking I was going to be in -5 by now ha ha ha ha ha

"Variel like I have told you before, command proper respect, speak things with more mettle and no doubts and you shall be fine" thinks to himself Well I'm good at this, tho I wasn't sure it would work in this beasts

I still can't believe it ^^

He approaches calmly but still keeping a safe distance "Now is there anything we need to check in this place or shall we take our leave, for I don't have anything against this beast and I do wish to continue exploring"


The room is pretty barren except for puddles of water, a subdued lizard, and some musty rotten sacks and shelves. There is a door to the south west.

"Well guess we should leave this room there is nothing more to see" looks at the lizard god "At ease be about your things what ever those may be" he walks outside the room heading towards the next one.

Still not trusting the subdued lizard, Variel will move to the door, attempting to stay out of the puddles along the way, and examine the door.

Perception:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13


Careful inspection of the door shows no sign of locks or traps. Through the thick wood you can hear two muffled voices hissing back and forth to each other. As Belros moves up to the door to open it he notices that the lizard has come up close behind.

Mastermind, any recognizable language to the voices behind the door? Variel speaks Taldane, Elven, Draconic, Goblin, Kelish, and Sylvan.


They are whispering and the door muffles most of the sounds but there's the occasional syllable in Draconic.

"Sounds like whatever's behind the door is speaking Draconic. Ummm Belros? Looks like sparky the lizard is back to play again."

I assume that the lizard is approaching to attack, or is this a poor assumption?

Turns around to face the lizard dog "He must like me" as stands again with an intimidating pose, points at the lizard dogs with his finger"Stand down and give up following me" snaps his fingers as he points down with his finger and then searches his belt puch for a piece of dryed meat that he could picked up for the travel in the caravan to throw it close to the lizard dog.

Intimidate check against Sparky the lizard 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Yeah nice name for our new mascot lmao

Turns around to face Variel "Well shall we make our selves known to our draconic speaking "friends"

"I assume we could do that." Variel says reaching for one of his catalyst vials.

After seeing how the lizard responds to the warrior, Variel thinks, The lizard could end up being a pretty cool pet...

Looking at the lizard it seems more like a scalded dog than an attacking beast. It's head is lowered and tail dragging along the ground. It is already Intimidated into being helpful so you would have to make a Handle Animal check to try and command it.

Takes a knee and calls in le Lizard dog "Come little one, I shall call you Sparky from now on" pets him and feeds him a bit "Now let us face what is beyond the door over there Variel"

"Sparky" takes the piece of dried meat from Belros and shocks it with a bolt of electricity from between his horns. While chewing on it contentedly he lays down beside Belros' feet.

Variel pulls the door open from the side giving the fighter a clear view inside. Racks for weapons line the walls of this chamber; above the racks hang various shields, pieces of armor, weapons, and standards on display. Most of the racks are empty, but a few weapons remain in place. A horrible stench fills the room as well, akin to the smell of rotten eggs mixed with the reek of an open sewer.

Two creatures stand in the middle of the room. These humanoids' scaly hides are dull gray. Their frames resembles that of a cave lizard, with a long tail and crests on their heads and backs. Seeing the door open they let out long hisses and both reach for javelins from their back.

Initiative!:
Belros (V) 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Kaldar (S) 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
Kendric (K) 1d20 ⇒ 9
Variel (G) 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15

I'll have a map up later tonight. They are standing in the middle of the western wing which is clear. There is five feet between them. Belros is in front of the door with Kendrick to his right, Variel to his left and Kaldar behind him. If you would like to wait to post actions until seeing that map I don't mind.

With that Variel opens the door and readies to lob a bomb into the room if that appears necessary.

With a disgusted tone of voice "Variel I'll leave u space enough to shoot better this time, unless you have better trick up that sleeve of yours" a feint smile of enjoymen "Kaldar let you aim hold true again in this fight" looks over his shoulder towards Kendrick "Well you should know what to do"


As the door is open the smell of rotten eggs becomes overpowering, causing each of you to pause for a moment.

Fortitude Saves vs. Stench:
Belros 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Kaldar 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Kendrix 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Variel 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Belros and Variel both succumb to the smell and turn to the side coughing up bile. Kendric and Kaldar manage to swallow their gorge and hold fast.

The two of you are sickened, which is basically -2 everything, for 10 rounds.

"Urgh", Variel groans, feeling ill from the stench, "I think I have something a bit better this time." as vial of catalyst begins to glow.

Mastermind, I'll give you attack rolls and damage after I see the map so I know where I'm shooting for with the bomb.

Can I make a 5-foot move and then charge? or only move and attack?


Can't step and move unfortunetly. A charge must be in a straight line without any obstructions, so you're too close unfortunately. Cause a charge ends as soon as you can reach your opponent. Lot of stipulations there, lol.

Actions:
Variel will throw the bomb at the Trog in G11, using the splash weapon mastery feat I will add square I11 to the splash area (DC 14 Reflex save to avoid 5 splash damage).

Attack:1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 - 2 = 13 (vs. touch AC, penalty for sickened applied)
Damage:1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 (fire damage)

After taking his shot, Variel will 5ft step back to L8 to get out of everyone else's way.


Male Human

Brother Kendrick will either (1) try and move then throw his javelin at one of the creatures, or, if no targets are available, (2) drop his javelin, draw longsword and move in to support Belros.

Since Brother Kendrick is last in the initiative order, please feel free to modify these actions to something that makes sense and move the round forward.

Just for information's sake, to make a opponent surrender via intimidate is usually a 1 minute action. Used in a combat round you can give them the shaken condition.


Round 1, young troglodytes

(24) Kaldar moves into the room so he can get a clear shot at the closest one.
Longbow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 Miss.
Crit Fumble; 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 Normal miss.
Moving into the room causes him to stumble slightly and the shot goes wide.

(18) "Ha! You think this disgusting smell will stop me!" says it with a disgusted face barely keeping what ever can come out of his stomach from the sick stench "Kneel and live stand and die!" as he points his finger in the most commanding and using his intimidating posture as well as he can in his sickened state.

The troglodyte in front of him looks around nervously and appears to be shaken by the display.

(15) Variel rigs another catalyst and chucks it around the corner into the room. The cover from the wall causes his attack to miss slightly. Miss direction; 1d8 ⇒ 6 The bomb goes over the creatures shoulder and lands behind it. Trog Ref save; 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 The fire washes up it's side singing scales and flesh. Pieces of moldering weaponry and armor are thrown about the room from the explosion.

(12) The shaken one drops his javelin and steps up to attack Kaldar rather than the fearsome Belros.
Claw: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (5) - 2 = 3
Claw: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (14) - 2 = 12
Bite: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (17) - 2 = 15
All of the attacks scrape uselessly off of his armor. The other young troglodyte moves up and tries to stab Belros with his javelin.
Javelin: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (2) - 2 = 0
The attack does not come close to hitting.

(9) Kendric tries to throw his javelin at the creature through the door.
Javelin: 1d20 - 8 ⇒ (11) - 8 = 3
It rattles off of the wall and lands far from his target.

Second Floor, young troglodytes (map)

On his second round initiative, Brother Kendrick will draw his longsword and (if possible) move into melee.

Round 2 Second Floor, young troglodytes

(24) Kaldar takes a step back and shoots at the troglodyte near Belros.
Longbow: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Damage; 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
The arrows takes it through a lung causing it to fall to the ground gurgling.

(18) Belros moves into the room swinging at the trembling creature, but his blow does not connect.

(15) Variel loads and fires his crossbow at the remaining trog. The shot goes wild nearly hitting Belros.

(12) Seeing it's friend slain and having already been terrified the troglodyte tries to run away. Belros attacks it as it moves by.
AoO Bastardsword: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Damage; 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Before it can get more than two steps to the eastern door the bastard sword pierces through it's side. The trog makes it to the door but leans on it heavily barely able to stand.

(9) Kendrick draws his longsword and moves into the room standing beside the escaping troglodyte.

The javelin attack last round was made trying to stab you with it, not throwing it, Belros.

Variel will reload his crossbow and move to G11.

Round 3

Assuming the creature is still alive on his initiative, Brother Kendrick will demand surrender with a cry of "Yield, and your life is spared!" and then ready an attack action if the creature instead takes a hostile action. If the creature tries to move past he'll take an attack of opportunity.

In case it's necessary:

Attack 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Damage 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

It continues to scrabble furiously at the door before finally opening it. As the troglodyte steps through Kendrick finishes it off with a quick slash. The room grows still and silent except for heavy breathing and the strange crackle-pops from Sparky who stands near the door.

"Anyone hurt? No? All right then. Anyone know what these creatures are...er, were? Maybe they have some treasure..."

Brother Kendrick searches around the room.

Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

Even if nothing looks interesting, he'll cast Detect Magic and scan the chamber for any auras.


Most of the few remaining arms in the room have rusted away, making them useless in combat. However, the following valuable items can still be found; a masterwork silver dagger, a masterwork light steel shield emblazoned with a leaping dolphin, and a banner depicting a bird made of living flame. The creatures themselves have 10 sp between them, two clubs, and two javelins.

"Well that's the last of this stinking horrid creatures!"[b] still with a disgusted face [b]"Well what did you find Kendrick or what are you searching for?" inquires with curiosity


After the minute or so spent searching the room your stomachs settle down. Variel and Belros are no longer sickened.
