So, the Core Rulebook jumped back on Amazon some time ago. However, for a couple of days already, it is impossible to buy it directly from Amazon, and a following message appears:
"Item Under Review
While this item is available from other marketplace sellers on this page, it is not currently offered by Amazon.com because customers have told us there may be something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are shipping it, or the way it's described here. (Thanks for the tip!)
We're working to fix the problem as quickly as possible."
Is anybody aware what's up with that ?

I was about to buy a second copy of Core Rulebook, the first one will be encased in ice/carbonite/gelatinous cube for future generations.
And GMG yes, it's high up, with a glaring 5-star review by yours truly (shake it fangirls and fandudes, write more 5-star reviews ! on Amazon.co.uk too ! Spread the love !)

I haven't received my copy of GMG yet... :(
That's probably a good idea... I haven't thought about ordering a second copy, but now that you mentioned it, I probably will.
BTW, we had the local semiannual RPG con (around 50 people or so) last weekend, and some people had picked up shiny, new core rulebooks at the FLGS! Naturally, we had a Pathfinder game at the con; I couldn't participate (it was on sunday), but I was amazed at how many people in my local RPG community are playing or want to try Pathfinder! :)

This seems like a pretty big deal. I've never seen this before on Amazon.

Both I and a friend bought a flawed copy of the core rulebook from amazon. For me it was my 'spare' copy for players at my table. It had a section of the spell section missing, and part of it repeated. My friend had a similar problem. Both were returned and refunded, but its possible they got a flawed batch?

I've seen it on an item when several reviews complained about being sent a similarly-titled but incorrect item.
With the "the way we are shipping it" proviso, I wonder if they've gotten a lot of complaints about the fact that they are putting a big, huge, heavy, beautiful book into a padded envelope and letting it arrive with crushed corners and indented covers. That's how our copy from Amazon arrived.

When I got mine, the cover was a little warped, but they eventually straightened out after colloing off form the desert heat. Otherwise I've had no problems with my Core Rulebook.

It's hard to tell what Amazon.com means often, but my guess would be exactly that—that the size of the book doesn't mix well with the standard methods of how Amazon ships books. Either that, or they ran out of stock again and are waiting for orders to refill or something.
What it means is they got enough reports from the same customers about the same problem with an item (any item). So in order to try and prevent the problem from affecting other customers, they're pulling the item from sale directly from Amazon while they review all the inventory trying to find if one or two people just got extremely unlucky or if there's a more widespread problem. So the item gets put 'under review' instead of being marked as unavailable, not for sale or simply out.
It's their attempt at trying to keep their customers informed that something is going on, without being too specific.

It shows as "available" for me ?
Go figure !
I hope everything sorts out fine, as I guess Amazon is a major selling point.
EDIT : It's available on amazon.fr, but not on amazon.com
Still I remember ordering one from them back at the time of release, and never getting it ! Lucky I ordered another one from Paizo too ...

Well...I've just tried amazon.com, amazon.co.uk, and amazon.fr, and it gives me no problems adding the item and proceeding to checkout on any of them.
Is it a problem that's reported once you're processed the item? That's the only step I didn't take.
I checked into it last night and it was a warning / text box on the books Amazon product page. No real explanation. Checking on it just a second ago and it was gone and the book was available directly from Amazon again...

Basically, the answer we got on our inquiry was "it's working now..."

I guess we know where all those people Pacific Bell laid off a few years ago are working.

Fortunately, there are great first level adventures for a beginning group. However, I think a great addition to the introductory range would be a simplified character creation booklet. Essentially, this would contain a character sheet a description of the process, a shortenedd version of PC races and classes, only the skill and feat (only the feats available to level 1 PCs) tables and just the spell tables for level 0 and 1 casters. For detailed description of feats, skills, and spells the core book would have to be consulted.
This would enable a GM to introduce Pathfinder to a new group (or a old group playing different games) very quickly without everyone having to fight over a single copy of the core book. It would be a boon to convention GMs as well.

Vic (and others),
I had no idea this thread existed when I ordered a copy of the Core Rules hoping to get the 3rd printing. It arrived about 4 days ago from amazon. Looks great! been tinkring with it and reading stuff in more detail...then I read about how the spells section had some problems for others in a prior post....and I decide to flip through the whole spells section just to be sure.......
LO! AND BEHOLD! At page 232 things get really wonky...the book jumps back to page 225 and runs thru to 232 again...then jumps all the way to page 249, continuing as if nothing weird has happened. So, I'm missing all the "A" spells and about half the "B" spells. I have not looked deeper for other similar problems, so there may be others. Thankfully, I also have the .pdf to fill in the gaps.
I'm betting big money (not really) that this is the problem that Amazon was trying to deal with earlier this month. I'm filing a ticket with Amazon to get a corrected copy ASAP. However, I'm guessing that they will be contacting Paizo soon to complain about the botched print job and seek recourse. Best of luck sorting it out Vic! Hope it doesn't mess with your revenues.

It's possible, but generally the problem you're seeing (duplicated/missing signatures) is a rare printing error that normally affects only one or two books in a row—usually not even a single box, much less a large quantity.

Hey, don't knock them off, those are some of the biggest walls of text I ever wrote on something not job-related. At least the UM one seems to have prevented the "ZOMFG TYPOS 1 STAR!" debacle that happened over here =)

Strangely enough, this is the second time this week that I've seen this exact error message referenced at Amazon

It actually happens more often than people know. Amazon has a way for their people to try and identify problems as they crop up from customers about products (shipping damage, specific manufacturing defects found repeatedly by customers, etc.).
This stops them from selling more of the item until they can get boots on the ground in the different warehouses to physically check inventories or how items are packed by warehouse types and correct them. This way they can stop the bleeding on sending more 'bad' items and losing money on it by sending out replacements of the same 'bad' item or paying to keep returning them.
