Scarab Sages

Last night, after the wife went to bed, I sat in the downstairs glider chair we bought for her. I was going to read City of Strangers. Instead I nodded off for 20 minutes.

DAMN YOU COMFY GLIDER CHAIR!!

Hi all. How's the day so far?

Hi all. How's the day so far?

Just starting off, but seems like its going to be ok. Yours?

Man. 5-5:30ish hurts. I got up this morning, made my wife coffee, and went back to bed. Amazing how much better I felt after another 1.5 hours of sleep. Did I miss anything this morning?

Not bad. I'm impatiently tracking the progress of my iPhone (FINALLY available for Verizon) across the country, and trying to figure out how I can be at home to sign for it one day this week. :P

Yes. Six Pole Dancing lessons for 67% off the retail price. The only catch is that the classes are in Columbus.

Yeah sorry about that, it's kind of hard to keep up around here, and Solnes went off the deep end this weekend so we kinda trashed the place.

I went to one of those, some guy with an Irish name was teaching and I shoved the pole up his scrawny ass. :P

Too bad you don't live close to us, they have free lessons a couple times a year at Badd Kitty. ;)

And Solnes could sell you a portable pole to take home and "erect" in your bedroom.

And who said that erector sets were just for kids?

So who said that? I love those damn things, why I even had the last FaWTL house built from them! That might explain why we needed 4 more of them so far......

Go forth with the blessings of the Bacon my child, for in the Bacon Cheeseburger anything is possible. One simply must put it there.
Did you guys begin smoking cessation? Just curious.
We have made some progress in that area. It turns out that we may qualify for a State program to help us quit, man when I think of all the money we, literally, burn every week it makes me cringe. But yes, we are trying, but it's not fun.
I suspected that might be the case from recent posts. It's a bit of a catch 22. It's all but impossible for just one partner to quit, although my Dad quit decades before Mom did. On the other hand it's it's a real bear to go through withdrawals at the same time. I wish you both the best of luck with this.
Ditto. Good luck to both of you.

Good luck guys. I would strongly suggest you either quit one at a time or you each find a quit smoking buddy that does not live in the house with you- despite all of the "let's have sex so we don't think about smoking" sex you'll have, there is an aspect of quitting smoking that requires an outside perspective. It is doable, but you might become someone you don't recognize for a little while.

Koto is pretty cool to watch someone play - especially songs where they retune it in the middle! I had a friend in Japan that took traditional dancing lessons, and she had a friend on the koto and shakuhachi while she danced as a performance for my mother and aunt and me when they visited. It was very cool!

The note sent home said "Please make sure your child is in his/her BLUE polo...", so we sent her to school in her light blue polo. Apparently they wanted her in her NAVY polo. Talked to the principal and he said he didn't know anything about it, whatever. He said he'd fix it, I said he better, and to let me know how.

Being a parent makes me aware of how much being a kid sucked.

Bah! I don't want to talk on the phone. E-mail accessibility is definitely what I'm going after.

Another thing to think about. Remember when we streamed our Fawtly Misadventures (or in other circles, The Furious Derailing by Dexter Bates) via Ustream, but we had to awkwardly reposition the laptop?

Imagine doing that with a handheld the next time. So much potential! ;-)

Gotta agree with that. Could not get into it at all. About the third episode I watched I remember walking away from the screen muttering about how DBZ had faster plot movement and made more sense. Even Bryce can't handle so much of nothing happening.

Once again, I believe the poor dubbing and localization of the series may have more to do with your dislike as opposed to the content of the show. Still, once again, it is a MUCH better read than it is a watch.

Still, there is always a philosophy that goes along with the style. Sometimes it is obvious in the way the practicioner carries themself both in and out of direct combat, other times it is something that is quite subtle. This isn't to say that you aren't there to learn how to make sure you get home safe when someone comes for your life or property, just that the vast majority of fighting styles operate on more than just the "make 'em swallow his teeth" level.

Nah. Unlike you I have no problem with dubbing. I'll read subtitles if I have to, but I actually prefer dubbed. My problem was with pacing that was slow enough to compare poorly to a show that can make one fight last five episodes. Too much show, too little happening. I haven't read the books. Bryce has read one or two of them, but out of order. Doesn't bother him like it does me. He seems to like them pretty well. But I won't buy them for him yet. Like me he's limited to one comic at a time since that's already more than the budget can handle, and he's still stuck on the Clone Wars Adventures.

Ah, I see where my earlier post came across wrong, I was referring to the origins of the styles, not the mind set of their practitioners. It's a FaWTL bleed over of a debate that I was having somewhere else, where the other people involved swore that they were developed for exercise and discipline, not violence.

Ah, yes. The original practicioners of a style usually wanted nothing more than to make sure they could not be beaten up/killed by vandals and bandits, but once they got past a certain age, they usually became philosophers as well(or at the very least broadened their perspective).

I bought a fruit and veggie smoothie to try and rehydrate after yesterday. Maybe that will help. I do not need to be fainting this afternoon.

Ugh. Still sick. And have scary lab today. I went to the store and bought the ingredients for Dan's birthday dinner this morning. And forget the jalapenos. Guess I'll have to swing by the store again on the way to pick up Bryce. I'm just not sure I'm actually going to be able to eat any of this dinner. Oh well. I bought a fruit and veggie smoothie to try and rehydrate after yesterday. Maybe that will help. I do not need to be fainting this afternoon.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAN!!!

I'll pass on the birthday wishes. :)

Liberty's Edge

I woke up this morning and surprised Treppa with grilled cheese with eggs on them for breakfast. Buttery, cheesy, and delicious! OM NOM NOM!

Man. 5-5:30ish hurts. I got up this morning, made my wife coffee, and went back to bed. Amazing how much better I felt after another 1.5 hours of sleep. Did I miss anything this morning?
Yes. Six Pole Dancing lessons for 67% off the retail price. The only catch is that the classes are in Columbus.
I saw that? Chance of getting her in such a class during tax season? 0%

I thought the classes were for you.

He did! They are yummy. Mmmmm.

I don't need classes...but I could always use some more gigs.

Giggity!

Good luck to the S&M household on the smoking cessation. If you get desperate, remember to buy some cinnamon sticks. They make interesting cig substitutes, and your breath will be fabulous.
