Is there a Pathfinder version of the Swashbuckler class, either official Paizo content or 3rd party?
A bunch of my old NPCs are swashbucklers and I'd really like to convert them for an upcoming adventure - also to give PCs the option to run them.
I searched these forums before asking and , but I didn't see anything definitive - mostly comparing Duelist vs. 3.5 Swashbuckler.
Thanks!

Yes, in the Tome of Secrets and as a fan of the Swashbuckler I think that it is an awesome adaptation of the Class. It embodies everything that the original should have been. :)

There is also this great class called Rogue that can totally take a rapier and be a swashbuckler. Fighter works too, even the ranger could be a swashbuckler.
You could even mix and match some of those options to make the swashbuckler type character do what you want it to do! A few levels of Rogue and Fighter using the multi-class system should really give you that feel of 3.5's rogue-fighter mixed swashbuckler.

I think the question, however, is will it give you the Swashbuckler?

Absolutely, you'll be an acrobatic fighter that uses a rapier, jumps around and has a dashing good time. Dabbler has a good suggestion too with the Duelist PrC, that would easily fit into the swashbuckling mindset too.
Just watch out for the Dread Pirate Roberts, I hear he isn't really left handed.

I just realized some mistakes in my version. Change the Swashbuckling technique to 3rd level, and use the following revised level special ability advancement.
Level/Special
1st/Weapon Finesse
2nd/Grace +1
3rd/Insightful strike, swashbuckling technique
4th/Dodge bonus +1
5th/Combat Reflexes
6th/Swashbuckling technique
7th/Acrobatic charge
8th/Dodge bonus +2, grace +2
9th/Advanced technique
10th/Improved flanking
11th/Lucky
12th/Dodge bonus +3, swashbuckling technique
13th/Acrobatics expert
14th/Grace +3
15th/Swashbuckling technique, weakening critical
16th/Dodge bonus +4
17th/Wounding critical
18th/Swashbuckling technique
19th/Acrobatics master
20th/Crippling critical, dodge bonus +5, grace +4

True, but I tried a Fighter/Rogue and it didn't give me the same thing as what I could get with the straight ToS Swashbuckler.

Well what exactly do you want a swashbuckler to do? I head swashbuckler and I think max ranks of acrobatics, weapon finesse and a rapier and that's all that I would ever think a character concept like swashbuckler would need mechanically to qualify as one. Anything beyond that is just preferences and role-playing for my games, so what else is there needed to play one? Ranks in profession sailor perhaps?

No, I just found that having to multi-class (and belive me this is hard for me to say because I am a heavy multi-classer) diluted the concept I was trying for, but going straight Swashbuckler gave me everything (OK I think I lost a Feat) I had plus a little extra thanks to the non-dilution.

In my current Kingmaker campaign I have a player with an aversion to wearing armour because it upsets his character concept of the D'Artagnan type swashbuckler. So I allowed him to give up the heavy and medium armour proficiences and have weapon finesse as a bonus feat instead..I also allowed him to swap armour training for the ToS swashbucklers Evade class feature and he's a lot happier about the way he is going now.

Mr.Fishy |

Mr. Fishy's character Remy is a swashbuckling fiend. Mr. Fishy went Cleric of Desna [travel and liberation domains] and rogue. Maxed out acrobatics and the travel domain that bastard makes Errol Flynn look like a clutz.
Mr. Fishy loves that flank happy little guy. Swinging from the yardarm, leaping onto the upper deck. Shield of faith and a mirthal chain shirt keep him safe and mobility makes him a hard target.

I've contemplated using a Cleric with the Travel Domain for a couple of Characters simply because I'm a big fan of anything that gives extra movement.

I agree that the movement bump is tempting, but I always thought it was a little munchkin to become a cleric of Desna just for +10'. How about taking the Fleet feat twice as a 1st level human or 1st level fighter?

I'd call myself a swashbuckler if warriors like me weren't called dervishes in my faith. And the bookworms I adventure with insist on calling me a "Paladin/Duellist" - but there's people who insist on specific designations for everything. Nice little pigeon holes.
I mean, nothing against order but I think there is too much of a good thing.
