Sten is such a softy in disguise.

* Leliana: I saw what you were doing back there.
* Sten: Oh?
* Leliana: Don't play innocent with me.
* Sten: What are you talking about?
* Leliana: You. Playing with that kitten.
* Sten: ...There was no kitten.
* Leliana: Sten, I saw you. You dangling a piece of twine for it.
* Sten: I was helping it train.
* Leliana: You're a big softie!
* Sten: We will never speak of this again.
* Leliana: Softie!

I was only able to get Sten's approval up with the gifts. He's a hard nut to crack if you play a kind character.
I found that you have to be just as thick headed as he is when talking to him. And usually that will give you some approval.

I tried my best, but I'm just so thin-headed by nature.

Ha, just try to be the dog that chases his own tail, never opt for
"Ok this is getting us no where option"

Also I discovered if you really want to up someone's approval the Dragon age wiki has all conversations with each -/+ approval ratings.

(Zevran After Solving The Bridge Puzzle) "I'm sure there's a moral in here...something about building bridges with friends, and such. Something poetic...oh, well."

That's a cool resource. Thanks. :)

Np, Just passing on the wisdom that was given to me.^^

Also being the big anime nerd that I am, I would like to take a fangirlie moment to ::sqee:: at the fact that Steve Blum voiced Oghren.

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

Oh, cool. I thought his voice sounded familiar. Never would have figured it out.

Want another shocker? Tim Curry as Arl Rendon Howe.

I created a noble human warrior just cause I my friend told me you hear more part of the story line involving him.^^

I think I saw that in the credits. The cast did a great job all 'round.

Good to know about the human noble path. Thanks again.

My pleasure.

You are more patient then I, I always skip the credits.

Other then that I never really recognized any of the other voice actors.

Oh dear.....my buddy showed me the gold cheat in dragon age.

It only works on Xbox and ps3 apperently-

first save.
then move a big expensive item to your junk.
note that it only works in junk part of your inventory.
now heres the tricky part that takes practice-
press triangle and x one after the other reeaaaally fast!
you have to have perfect timing on this or else the item wont give you double gold
wash rinse repeat.
also if you exit out of your inventory make sure you buy the your item back or else you have to pay full price!

Oh. I also forgot to mention the obvious, that is when your selling junk at a vendor. =P

Edit-100th post woo!

I've just beaten Dragon Age Origins, DA: Awakening, Mass Effect, and Mass Effect 2 and have replayed through most of them. Are there any games similar to these Bioware masterpieces? I'm feigning for games like this!

Liberty's Edge

Jade Empire was less well known among the bioware games, but it is easily among my favorites, great storyline and dialogue as always and lots of fun.

And of course, if you have never played Knights of the Old Republic, I would suggest that you do so immediately. The plot-line is compelling and has wonderful twists to it that would make M. Night Shamelan's old movies ashamed.

KoToR 2 was done by a separate company and its ending got a little rushed, but the story itself was very good and they added a lot of play elements to the game that did a lot. If you pick it up as a PC game there are a mods available which have completed and added in some of the gameplay that was lost due to it being pushed out the door by its publisher.

Oh, I should have mentioned that I absolutely LOVED the KOTOR. I did not play KOTOR2 because a friend told me that it was incomplete.

Jade Empire -- can I play it on my XBOX360?

Liberty's Edge

Well Jade Empire was an XBox game as well as being on the PC. You may want to check if its on the backwards compatibility list, but I don't see any reason you couldn't play it on the 360.

KotOR FTW.

~grins~ I will test it out later on tonight. I found a copy of Jade Empire at one of my local Goodwill stores for $5.

Last time I checked, Jade Empire was also being sold as a direct download on the Live Arcade store for the 360. I think it costs about $10-$12 in MS points.

I played Jade Empire on my 360. It should be compatible.

Yes, Jade Empire DOES work on the X-Box 360. I am playing it right now. It looks like it will be a fun BioWare game. ~sighs~ I will have to pick up KotOR eventually.

Edit - Just understand that the controls for the old X-Box are slightly different than for the X-Box 360. One I figure out the differences, then I will post them here.

KOTOR 2 was also a fun game. I enjoyed it a lot.

Liberty's Edge

KotOR 2 was alright. I was disappointed at the state of the game, but I've never found myself happy with games made by Obsidian. I'm not sure why, aren't they Black Isle's legacy?

~shrugs~ I don't know. I jsut figure that if I enjoy the game, what does it matter who makes it. But yes, KOTOR was better than KOTOR 2.

Liberty's Edge

I just mean as a trend. KotOR 2 wasn't bad, it was just the legacy of one of the most awesome games ever made. Neverwinter Nights 2 suffered from the same issues: Obsidian doesn't finish their games. :(

I guess I just expect a lot from the legacy of two really great games.

Dragon Age seems fun so far, but I haven't completed it. It makes me itch to play a tabletop RP instead of wanting to finish the computer game. <shrug>

Dark Archive

Sharoth would you want some Jade Empire tips ?

Also I hope the Paizo staff takes a look a that game before they get to the meat of the Pathfinder Asian hardback.

:)

And yes, KotOR FTW!

Liberty's Edge

Haven't played awakening yet but I LOVED Origins. The characters were all so friggen interesting. Along with the story and gameplay, the characters themselves had me playing that game.

My first play through was against my usual gut as I played a heavily armored 2 handed fighter because I got the special full plate red dragon armor or whatever its called. I thought the 2 handed would be crazy damage but its apparently the worst. Had decent crowd control.

Now when i tried again as a rogue, THAT was when I fell in love! Stealthy/stabby is so fun. Hell usually, with the duelist thing going on along with assassin, I hardly ever had to back attack to kick someone's face in. My dex was so high that I was as good as full plate. Such good times.

I will say, I kind of liked Leliana as a romance. She was sweet.

I always played elves for what its worth. Hate the way human males looked.

OH, and the coolest character ever is Zevran. Bar none ... he wins the game.

I loved playing Origins, but Awakenings left me with a bad aftertaste. Sure, they allowed higher levels, they did put in some pretty nifty plots... but the soul of Origins, for me, was the conversations you could have with your companions. Without that (and it's almost all gone in Awakenings), it's a whole different game. Which you will compare to Origins, and feel it's mostly a rehash of the same things. Sad, because it could have been so much more.

I love Shale. Leliana is a nice character, Shale matches my cynicism. Still working my way through it.

I must be the only one who disliked the bard.

It's bad enough that I have to ignore my real life friend's conversations about shoes and hair, now I have to ignore a video game character talking about it.

Spoiler:
Also had her in my party when we ran threw the Gauntlet. Someone's a big fat liar. I suppose that's just women crazy for ya.

But I do give credit were it's due, if you put so much work and effort into a person that I like or dislike them it means they did a good job on flushing out the character.

That's the same vibe I got from DA. I really wanted to play a P&P after I beat the game.

My wife just downloaded Watcher's Keep for a late wedding present for me (actually she gave me MS points but whateva!).

:)

The GF was playing last night and skipped a lot of the side quests. Funny thing was though, she'd stop to let the characters finish their background conversations.

The banter is very good side entertainment-I kinda wish they'd put more conversation points in towns cause you never hear all of the conversations on first play threw.

I frequently stop and listen to the conversations. Especially those between Alister and Morganna. :D

I think Morrigan is the second best conversation character in the game. The elf (name escapes me at the moment) is the BEST to bring anywhere!

Dangit, now that I've read through that link I want to start over.

Funny bit last night. I'm wading through, fireballs galore (14th level wizards are fun!) GF takes her turn at it, having trouble with her Rogue being a jack of all trades, master of none.

Me: "You know what would really help take care of the darkspawn?"
Her: "What?"
Me: One word.
Her: What word?
Me: FIREBALL!!
Her: Shaddup Matt!

Mmhm his is good as well. Although Shale's or Oghren's are my fav's right now. I turned down the background noise during fights when I have Shale in group cause sometimes "he" says those limericks.

I do that all the time. If they start talking, I'll stop and listen.

I also like Alister's comments to nobody in particular.

"Nothing like a brush with death to make you... not like death so much."

Has anyone played it as a healer from the beginning of the game?

Not I. Wonder how difficult it would be.

Not that hard if you use a long range weapon (bow/xbow)

I posted it a few up. His name is Zevran and he should be worshipped.

... so do it.

Dragon Age 2 in nine months or so. Looks like they're taking the Mass Effect route in that you have to be someone named "Hawke" and you may (or may not) have to be human.

Lack of flexibility will be missed (unless 'his' last name is Hawke)

Spoiler:
I'm picturing all the 'Shadow' 'Silver' 'Phoenix' 'Stooping' 'In' and other bad pun names. Oh and 'Stringfellow' for the elder set.

Not sure about the name, but Bioware is promising both genders as options. Human-only, though, which is a bit of a disappointment. Also only one origin story (though, to be fair, it was the other game that was called "Origins").
