Streamlining the Messageboards

Website Feedback

The problem I am having is that I post something in the correct sub-forum, only to have it completely ignored, because the sub-forum is visited maybe once a month.

If you ask me there are way too many different sub-forums. The community's attention/activity is focused on only a very few of them.

At least give us the possibility to move our thread from one sub-forum to another.

Sovereign Court

Well I just scan the RSS feed for the boards to see what's new, so I don't miss posts in the sub forums.

Organization is important. Why would you need to move a thread if it's posted where it should be posted? You should mispost your threads in a popular forum, that just makes work for the admins to keep it clean.

The RSS-feeds themselves are linked to sub-forums.

Also, you could post the same thing in different sub-forums without it being a mispost. Best example is "Rules Questions" = "Product Discussion" = "Campaign Setting" = "Player Companion".

Grand Lodge

There are thousands of RSS feeds here ... every thread, the whole board, forums, sub forums, every product, blogs, etc

I never have a problem.

Would you prefer your posts to be ignored because they got bumped to the second page by more active and newer threads?

That is what would result without all the specific sub forums. They exist to keep threads from getting lost in a flood of activity.

More activity can work against you as well as for you.

AZ, posting in every thread makes the concept of tracking threads irrelevant. :D

(Just kidding, mate :P)

Hey, come on now! I don't post in EVERY thread! Just like 99.92375%......:)

So, would you agree that the Forums Are Way To Long?

Ow! My eye!

Fewer but more active forums also means you are more likely to get this kind of silliness in your responses.

While not particularly helpful, it can be fairly amusing.

I agree that on the down side you have too much activity in a sub-forum. However I'm not saying we should reduce the messageboards to a single forum. That's why I said one should have the POSSIBILITY to move a thread, so that when you're not satisfied with the activity you can do something.

Hmm. Is this about the 'vital statistics' thread(s)? Sometimes it makes more sense to find an active thread which seems to already be approximately on topic (and with a lot of posts indicating interest) and post on that rather than to start a new thread.

Welcome to the Paizo Boards by the way.

Alch:
I just linked to your question about vital statistics in a post on the Campaign Setting reference thread; hope that might help.
Sorry, I'm not really strong on the mechanics side of the forum, and am not sure where your queries about the armoured kilts and polearms might get answers.

This isn't about a specific thread, really. It's just something I noticed.

You can always flag a thread with "thread is in wrong forum" and we'll move it if we think it belongs somewhere else.
