Was thinking about the list of gnome weapons and how a gnome fighter might tinker himself a modular weapon system to suit the situation.
For example
start with the battle ladder, very useful inside and outside of combat.
Now you could conciably integrate a switchscythe into a battleladder heh even a double switchscythe if you really wanted to get creative.
On top of that have modular additons such as the ripsaw glaive head which could be attached to the end of the battleladder, a heavy fail attachment to create the flailpole, sling attachment for slingstaff, and maul head for the piston maul.
Of course a gnome would carry all the attachments with him and would be very adept at swapping around the modular system to suit the occation.
Question is what sort of rules would you attach to such a wepaon
Exoitc Weapon Feat to use
Full round action to attach a modular component ?
(exception the switchscythe which as written is only a swift)
Improved Feat to make modular swap a move action
Would you allow each modular compoent to be treated as a seperate item for the purpose of enchanting. Or would you just have the core battleladder as the only enchantable part, and just apply those effects to any combination.
e.g. flamming ripsaw head, shocking piston maul head, battleladder +2 enchament. so you can swap between flamming and shocking but still get the +2 hit/dmg bonus on both combo's.
Would you say weapon focus and other weapon feats applies to each modular compoent or that the single feat applies to the entire weapon system.
Considering gnome fighters arn't exactly optimal to begin with, I can't see this being overpowered to allow feats to apply to the whole system and allow moduar enchantments.
I'd be less kind with non gnomes wnating to use such a verstile weapon and would prob not allow 1 feat for whole system, same with enchanting.
I could even see basing an entire class around such an intricate weapon.
