I just got the core rulebook but I tried finding how you aquire feats and can't seem to.
Where is the number of feats described on how many you get and how you aquire more or if you do at all?
Thanks
Check page 30, Table 3-1. This lists feats/level. Also, certain races offer bonus feats (half-elf and human, for example), while certain classes also offerbonus feats (fighter and wizard, for example).

Go to the beginning of the class section and look at the table for character advancement. It tells you when all characters gain feats. It's 1 feat at 1st level, then another feat at every character level that's odd (3, 5, 7, etc.).
Under races, you'll find that certain races (human, for example) start with an extra feat.
In classes, certain classes (fighter, a few clerics, ranger, rogue, monk, wizard, etc.) gain bonus feats at specific times and in specific ways.
How do you acquire them? When you reach the point where you would gain a feat, you choose one feat that you meet the prerequisites for. Some feats have no prerequisites, so you can take them whenever you are eligible for a new feat. Others requires specific ability scores, specific feats that you must have prior to taking the new feat, caster levels, base attack bonus, or some combination thereof. These details are listed in a table in the chapter on feats and also under the individual descriptions of feats in that chapter.

All characters get a feat at every odd level. If they meet the prerequisites, they can have it then.
Humans get an extra feat at 1st level.
Some classes get bonus feats at particular levels and the instructions of how, what and when are in the class description. For example, Fighters get an extra feat at every even level, plus a bonus at 1st. So, yep, a Human fighter starts with 3 feats, then gets one every single level forever after.
Edit: Wow, ninja'd by 3 people!

Page 30, table 3-1.
Exceptions (like Fighter Bonus feats, or racial bonus feats) are in the relevent class/race section.

Have I ever mentioned that I hate, hate, hate bits of rules that only appear as an entry in a table?
Oh right, I did that just the other day.
:-)

You get feats automatically as you level. There is a chart on page 30. Some classes get bonus feats. That will be stated in the class description.

Ahh. I wonder why they didn't put that in the back of the book!!! Such a long time reading and re-reading to find this info.
Thanks for all the responses. My buddies and I just started getting into this and its extremely broad.
I'm having a rough time creating a wizard for sure.
When stuck just ask the people on the board, they are eager to help
