So we have a half-celestial barbarian that is becoming a very high level character and verying towards CN and not good. Imagine Tempus from FR.
What to put instead of the 'good' abilities and the 'smite evil'? Just replace 'good' with chaos and 'evil' with 'lawful' seems a bit cheap.
Any other suggestions to alter the half-celestial template for a character who could become some CN proxy or war and battle divine agent ?
P.S: Preferably keeping the spells and divine feeling to it, as the character in question already has about every thing extraordinary there is to have about combat, and some kind of supernatural feeling to it would be better than stacking more extraordinary physical buffs and abilities.

What Are said is a great way to handle this. Think of the power this barbarian would have against other evil people! Rival warlord challenges him to battle? Smite!!!
If you really want to have his alignment and his abilities match, think about having a rebuild quest that brings out a characters true nature. Then change the half-celestial barbarian into a half-fiendish one. Talk to the player about this first though, and be sure to give out something to the others too.

Oh yeah forgot to mention that i this case the template has been ecquired during a looong quest and was not related to parentage but more to character nature which changes.
And to defend his new war-related interests he will probably be at odds with some celestials and some demons as well. I have to find some similar thing that can serve against both sides and keep something similar to the smite ****slap.
It's a one player, one DM campaign so balance in regards with other paryt members is a non issue. He's getting close to lv20 and the game will probably continue for a while more, but the more you advance the more a combat round gets unbereable due to too many modifiers and too large numbers floating around constantly.
You'd say a RP template that does not modify mechanics but then his character is really focused on combat so I have to find a template that does not make things too bulky, half-celestial being the limit on how bulky it can get, while giving similar divine advantages, but not tied to good or evil.

So he did a long chain of quests to " acquire " this power? and now he's changing or going against what he did to earn it? not be be a downer but... in most cases that a mortal " earns " a template from another power such as this, if he goes against the ways and mentality of what ever power gave him the template chances are going to revoke the power gave and return him to normal or even worse... curse him for betraying or soiling there name. I'm not sure on all the details but may want to consider powers that be, and how they feel about this guy changing like that... and what there reaction might be to said change.

Yeah, of course. I am not detailing out everything going on in the campagin world out there. There will be other powers to compensate for that, like paladin going blackguard and trading levels, basically same thing but with a template.
Also, I simply changed the spell like abilities on a one on one basis for equivalent spells and abilitites taken from the destruction, strength and war domain (for a character representing only martial power and brutality). Changed smite evil for a simple 'smite', instead of adding the bonus against one target until it dies or the character rests, simply can add the damage 3 times per day, but the target does not have to be evil.
