Twilight Armour?

Conversions

I've been pondering various things. One of these things is the twilight armour special quality from the 3.5 PH2.

It looks like it would help out gishes, eldritch knights especially. However, there is the problem that I wonder if it would end up being a no-brainer choice for arcanists of all kinds.

Would it be a good decision to bring it into a PF game? I don't have any experience with it in play, so I can't say if it is actually as I fear.

Pure arcanists have other choices to buff up thier AC. If they want to start burning feats on armor proficiency, (and remember medium armor requires TWO feats for characters that don't have light armor proficiency), let them go for it.

Just remember to keep track of encumbrance for all those STR 7 wizards.

+1 twilight mithril chain shirt requires light armour proficiency, but the nonproficiency penalty for wearing it without the feat is zero.

Sovereign Court

Yeah, the Twilight Mithril Chain Shirt +1 is 5 AC that you can sleep in with no need to be proficient and no arcane spell failure.

Not only that, it's pretty cheap since it's only the equivalent of +2 Mithril light armor. 5,100 gold. That's a steal and a no brainer for any wizard or sorcerer.

It goes very well with a Light Mithril Shield +1, which is a bargain for 2,009 gold.

So all that effort for a one AC boost over mage armour? And that's assuming just the basic spell, not a better version of it.

To my eyes, Twilight armor should not be included. The Arcane Armor Training feat has replicated that ability in a much more balanced way. Considering these would stack, it becomes rather ridiculous.

That same +5 armor bonus would cost 5x as much on bracers. +8 armor bonus would be just 26k, vs. 64k on bracers. Add ghost touch and you get 10k vs. 25k and 37k vs. 64k to make up for the benefit bracers give of blocking incorporeal touch attacks.

That doesn't account for the easy acquisition of mithril breastplate, or even full plate with no arcane spell failure.

Exalted deeds. was mentioned and reprinted in PH2 and MiC

it knocks 10% off spell failure

Don't forget to add the "Sparkles in Sunlight" trait to all Twilight Armour.

For the obvious reason that it's closed IP, you won't see in anything new save as a possible revised form in D+D 4th edition.

Not likely since you can be a Wizard in Full Plate with no real drawbacks.

Other than the investment to get there.

Yes. A one AC boost that is always on, does not burn a spell slot every day (or more depending on level), and cannot be dispelled and does not take a round after you wake up to get on because you were sleeping.

Twilight armor is too good. I'm glad it isn't in Pathfinder, since to me D&D is wizards running around in robes and pointy hats, not armor and shields.

It may not be called twilight(in fact it can't be called it)...and it may have slightly different numbers...but an enchantment that knocks off ASF can be done.

He beat me to that one. And of course, the "Cursed: Irresistable to vapid brunettes" property.

At this rate, any item with this property is going to be cursed...
