Ahh, while that is true for the saves, that isn't the case for the rest. Inspire Courage is +1 moral bonus to fear and charm saves, true. But Inspire Courage is a +1 competence bonus to attack and weapon damage rolls. So Bless attack bonuses and Inspire Courage bonuses do stack. Which is awesome.

So they are! Yes they do! And yes it is! You learn something new every day. I'm glad to be wrong in this instance! :)

DM DK please add the necessary +1 to any rolls I have mis-calculated (or caused to be mis-calculated) by my erroneous interjection! ;)

Vanion bounds over, seeing the bandit facing the other way, expecting to run him through. At the last second, he turn to flee, slighty tripping and Vanion ends up running him through his mouth and out through the top of his skull spattering skull and brains over Happs and Eadric.
Bandit 1 slides off Vanions sword and onto the ground, without a doubt dead.
Bandit 2 attacks Eadric with the flank for 7 points of damage and places a nasty gash on his side.

Obi delays for a second or two.
Lupus launches an arrow at Happs, but it goes wide.

Eadric lashes out at Happs and connects with his throat, blood spraying accross the yard and almost detaching his head, he slumps to the ground.

Bellis to go. Onlhy Bandit 2 is still standing, he begins to beg for his life!

You forgot Ellaria. I was waiting for Vanion's and Bandit 3's actions to be resolved before deciding on what to do. Anyway: Round 3

Spoiler:
She would cast Charm Person on Happs, which should still be alive on her turn.

Ellaria quickly mumbles another incantation, pointing at Happs while her eyes glow bright blue. Happs's eyes start to glow with the same color, as he shakes his head, trying to resist the spell.

[ooc]Sorry about that my bad, not sure how I missed you. Well the dice are hot for saves, but not so much for their attacking. Happs shakes off the charm attempt somehow, just to be split open by Eadrics blade.

Male Human Paladin 3 of Cayden Cailean

Not that I think it will get around to me again this combat but...

Round 4:

Eadric plans on attacking Bandit #2, moving if necessary, and if nothing significant happens to change his mind before his turn.

Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23 +3 base +1 courage +1 bless
Damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 +2 base +1 courage

Eadric spins around to face the bandit that slashed his side. Eadric seems to barely notice the wound. With a look of fierce determination upon his face, freshly splashed by the Happs' gore, his eyes burn as his voice booms, "You do not deserve, and I shall not grant you, any mercy other than that of a quick death!"

Eadric raises his sword for a killing strike!

Obi, seeing Eadric handling his foes, turns back to teh bandit that fell to his magic. He kneels down long enough to stab his dagger into the man's jugular, twist, and rip it our, his face calm and grim.

Round 4:
Coup de Grace on Bandit 3 as a full round action. I don't think the bonus from Inspire Courage is multiplied on the crit, so I didn't add it in.
Dagger Auto-Crit
1d4 ⇒ 4
1d4 ⇒ 2

"I hope the little girl is okay, because if she isn't, your body belongs to the wolves and the worms."

Female Halfling Cleric 1

Sorry for the late post, busy day yesterday!

Bellis watches with pride as the group easily disposes of the bandits, cutting them down in a hail of blood and steel. She exhales as the last active bandit is cut down and the other drops to his knees begging for his life. A pang of sympathy washes through her, she wishes she could spare his life but she knows her duty. Her bow raised she launches at arrow straight at the mans jugular.

Round 3:
Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Damage 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

M Human Ranger 1

I'm waiting for an update from DMDK before posting my action.

Obi comes off delay and kneels over slicing the throat of bandit 3. It is deep but misses the artery. The man suddenly awakes screaming in pain as his life blood pumps forth. As a move action he grabs his short sword and then desperately takes a swing at Obi and misses as Obi jumps back.

Bellis fires an arrow into Bandit 2 begging for his life that strikes him through his outstretched hand. He screams out in pain.

Durn to go.

M Human Ranger 1

round 3:
Durn will tell bandit 2 If you surrender then drop your weapon, and lay flat on your stomach, streching your arms out in front of you.

Durn will hold action, ready to shoot if the bandit doesn't comply, or interupt an ally if they still try to slay the bandit after he's down.

If the last bandit surrenders, Ellaria will climb down the wall and join the others in the courtyard.

Next up is the rest of the party. Unless someone decides to take out bandit 2 he does as he is commanded and drops flat on the ground with his weapon a few feet from him.

"I'll do as ye say, just don't ye be killin me, I was just followin orders you see, it wer Happs and the oders! Bens ere dodn't mean ye no arm!"
He has a thick country accent that is difficult to understand, but you think he meant his name was Ben...

We can drop out of combat. I will send out another e-mail in a couple of hours summarizing who is left and what you find. Can I get a volunteer to handle the party loot and coordinating out who picks what? Thanks!

I can try to do that.

Male Human Paladin 3 of Cayden Cailean

Pick me! Oh pick me!

Edit: Gah! Ninja's by Ellaria! :)

Isn't Bandit #3 currently attacking Obi?

M Human Ranger 1

Durn: There will be no murdering of those that have surrendered or are currently unable to fight.

Durn dismounts next to Eadric with a grunt of pain due to the sizable slash going along his stomach, and whispers Justice is not slaughter nor revenge, we must gather what information we can from these brigands. Then we can amet out justice.

To Vanion and Lupus:would you both be so kind to relieve our sleeping guest of his weapons and horses?

Male Human Paladin 3 of Cayden Cailean

Hearing Durn's offer of mercy and seeing the bandit drop his weapon in surrender and lay prostrate upon the ground at his feet, Eadric's sword arm hesitates. Eadric seethes in anger before offering, "Just following orders? Just following orders?! Spoken like the true coward that you are! All you have accomplished is to delay your death! You could have died like a man, but now you shall meet justice swinging from the end of a rope!"

Nice touch on the 'just following orders' bit DK!
Testing my paladin's code already are we? ;)

Male Human Paladin 3 of Cayden Cailean

"Secure the prisoners! Round up the dead! Lupus! Am I correct to assume the sentry has been dispatched? Lets bring him and those horses in from outside the gate and get the horses in the barn."

Turning to Durn, "The idea was always to capture one or two alive... but this many prisoners? I don't like it, not at all. It will cause us trouble... mark my words."

I hear an echo, also the way I read it was Bandit #3 had a last attempt before dying.

To Eadric:Who said anything about letting them live. Oleg has already pronounced sentence on them, this being his domain. We will just be interrogating prior to dispensing justice, but feel free to murder whichever ones it takes to make you feel more secure.

Male Human Paladin 3 of Cayden Cailean

That still leaves #2, #6 and possibly #5. And yes I am aware that Durn gave an order to relieve #6 of his weapons. ;)

Male Human Paladin 3 of Cayden Cailean

"Well, then you might as well just kill this cur now Durn," gesturing to the bandit at our feet. "How likely is he to provide us with information when you have just told him he'll hang anyways?"

"At least the fellow in the shed hasn't heard our 'plan' for him yet..."

M Human Ranger 1

Are "Holy" warriors always so quick to dispense death to men who have turned themselves in to the law? Which I might remind you we are supposed to be, or have you so quickly forgotten Pup?

Male Human Paladin 3 of Cayden Cailean

"Don't call me that ~old man~," Eadric says with a wink, attempting to cut the growing tension.

Male Human Bard 1

Vanion follows Durn's orders and begins disarming one of the bandits. But when he hears an argument beginning to brew, he steps between the two large men, hands outstretched and says, "Easy, easy. Can't we interrogate them, and find out what they have to say, before we decide their fate?"

M Human Ranger 1

Durn laughs at what Eadric says and as he does he then clutches at his stomach as a small trickle of blood comes down under his armor.

He nods at Vanion, then to Eadric, Time enough for us to discuss our differences later, but for now

To the bandit Your remaining time here is dependant on your ability to remember details. I will put in a good word with our benefactor to see what little mercy he may have for one of your kind, but that is all dependant on you. First question, have you seen this girl?

Male Human Paladin 3 of Cayden Cailean

"And in answer to your other questions... I tend to find interrogating groups of prisoners less effective. Even low lives such as these have some measure of honor, and they are less likely to speak to us, and be thought of a snitch, when their comrades are present. That is what I meant about 'trouble' with this many prisoners. One or maybe two would have been adequate for our purposes. Additionally, is hanging a prisoner any less 'murder' as you wish to emphasize. We are the law in these parts, as granted by our charter. These men have been found participating in the act of open banditry. We have the right and duty to put these men to death for it. I was merely hoping that more of them would choose to go out in glory rather than having the unpleasant duty of hanging a defenseless man. That is all I meant Durn."

"We are all on the same side here..."

Edit: Doh! Being a blabber mouth causes me to sometimes disrupt the timeline! :)

Male Human Paladin 3 of Cayden Cailean

Eadric watches as Durn winces in pain and then looks down at his own wound. "Don't we make a pair! Bleeding all over the place. In fact don't we make a an odd group," turning to include Vanion. "We are a revolving mess of murderous intent and mercy, the three of us. I see you wield that sword of yours quite admirably Vanion!"

Eadric turns deadly serious as Durn begins to question the cowering bandit, thrusting the locket into the bandit's face.

Just to correct the timeline, as you guys accept the surrendor of the Bandit named Ben, you hear a gurgle from another Bandit, the one by Obi that slumps to the floor at Obis touch. You are not sure but you think you see a burn mark on his forehead. He doesn't appear to be moving.
Obi"This one didn't want to surrender, I had too...".
Bandit 3 is dead.
Lupus goes out to collect the horses and the last sentry, you have two live Bandits already, probably don't need another one Lupus thinks to himself. That Bandits slides into the great abyss only seconds later, never waking from his magically induced slumber.
Bandit 5 is dead.

The grounds of the post are covered by clumped blood and the moan of Ben, his hand bleeding quite badly. You move the bodies and secure Bandit 6 before he awakes.

Oleg walks calmly up to bandit 2 and kicks him in the face before you can act, "That is what I think of just following orders. Rape and kill my wife huh, I hope you enjoy not being able to eat ever again!"
The man falls back unconscious. His teeth are all knocked out and potentially his jaw is broken. You doubt if he will be able to speak without some healing. A few seconds later Bandit 6 awakens.
What, what , what be goin on ere, what do do ye want with me?

[occ]BTW lets just treat any bold text as speach, any italics as thought and not worry about the "" marks anymore[/ooc]

He also has a rough accent but no quite as bad as Ben. You make sure Oleg doesn't get near this one.

Loot:
8 horses
6 longbows
1 composite longbow +2 STR
132 arrows
7 suites of leather
7 shortswords
1 longsword
1 dagger
14 days of trail rations for 1 person
95 gp
silver amulet with a Stag on it

Can we sell some of the items to Oleg? At what price? If we can't, can we obtain a place to store all the loot (aside from the horses of course).

Male Human Bard 1

Vanion takes out his rapier and begins maticulously cleaning the blood and gore off the weapon in front of the awakened bandit. "Well, friend, we have a few questions that need some answering. Are you willing to help us out? Or, do you yet feel the need for more persuasion...?" Vanion finishes with a merciless grin.

Well played DM DK... And I happen to like using the "" marks, helps me know where to stop and start talking. But you are the DM so, I'll go with it.

Obi walks over to the items found and casts a spell to reveal magical auras to his eyes.

Detect Magic

Female Halfling Cleric 1

Bellis watches the ensueing action unfold as she breaths in the cold air, whispering a prayer to the wind. The scent of blood is strong, she hasnt smelt it in a long while, it brings up memories of child birth and screaming babes, she knows after this it will conjure up much darker memories.

Watching durn and eadric argue over the what constitutes justice she feels the urge to start the bandits hanging now but keeps her mouth shut. She smiles at Olegs kick and shouts "Nice shot!" Sitting down on the table she starts to relax and smirks at Vanion's interigation technique. She is just about to lie down when she see's Eadric and Durn comparing wounds, "men..." she mutters and walks over to them, "are you two just going to stand there bleeding or should we do something about it?" she says smiling.

Okay, couple of things, why don't you guys figure out the list of questions you have for the bandit named Ula, on the OOC discussion post. Also give me a sense motive for the conversation as well just in case he tries to decieve you in some way.

He seems willing to tell you anything he wants, Vanion has successfully cowed him.

As far as Oleg's goes with loot, after this winds down I will send out another post with the detail. You can buy some stuff here, and he can give you store credit for 75% of the value of the good recovered from the bandits if you want to sell it to him, which he has no problems with. He also has a couple of rewards for you but I will type it all up later.

BTW tonight is my tabletop game I am DM'ing so I may be out of pocket later tonight, but I figure it will take you until tomorrow to get all of the questions you want together, of course you can try to prove me wrong...

All items detect with no magical auras except for one item you missed initially because it was on Happs horse. A scroll tube with a scroll in it. (this would be Ellaria reward for Volunteering for loot duty!)

I think you should tend to Durn first... you know... age before... the handsome dashing paladin! He looks a little woozy if you ask me! Eadric whispers to Bellis, making sure Durn can hear him and giving him a sly grin and a wink, before turning back to glare menacingly at the bandit.

Questioning the bandit Ula:
1) Do you recognize this girl? Ula cringes at your question, It weren’t me, it were Apps and the others, they decided to kilt the parents and take the girl. Said we could sell er and make a pretty penny, I didn’t like but if I wern’t goin along I would ave bin kilt meself
1a)Where is this girl now? Last time I saw er she were in camp, but she is probably gun by now
2) Who do you work for? I werk for Apps
3) Where is your camp located? An ard days ride southwest of the outpost
4) How many others are there at the camp some come and go like us, but at any time there could be 10-15 of the men there.
5) what type of defenses are there? A couple of men in er woods as sentries
6) What of the surrounding area? It’s in der woods, make it tougher to track us and keep the camp hidden
7) Why was the girl taken? she were worth somethin alive, and she were small enough to not cause much trouble
8) Do you know of any other bandit groups or dangers in the area? There be a bigger group of bandit workin in the south, but I don’t be nowin much about em, we stayed in der north
9) Are more bandits likely to come in search of you when you fail to return? Not right away. If we don’t return in 3 or 4 days someun may come lookin fer us. Were gone for days at a time thugh.

Male Human Paladin 3 of Cayden Cailean

Follow up to 1a
How long ago were you in your camp? What do you mean "gone by now"? To where? Where would they take her!?
Eadric concentrates and studies the bandit as he answers the questions.
Detect Evil

Loot:
8 horses (We'll keep these. Moving on horses would be quick, and having a spare one or two could be handy. Each of us gets one and we leave two spares here).
6 longbows (75*6 = 300gp)
1 composite longbow +2 STR (Someone will get this)
132 arrows (useless to sell - whoever needs could take 40 and we'll still have a lot of them left)
7 suites of leather (7*10 = 70gp)
7 shortswords (7*10 = 70gp)
1 longsword (15 gp)
1 dagger (2gp)
14 days of trail rations for 1 person (we could each take 2 of these)
95 gp
silver amulet with a Stag on it

Ok, so overall: we get 362gp from sales, 75% of that (thats the credit Oleg gives us for sale is 271.5gp. Divided into 7 gives about 38gp to each one. Add to that 95/7=14gp in coin for each.

Everyone gets: 52gp, 1 horse, 2 days of trail rations.
Whoever wants can take arrows for himself. As a party we have the silver amulet and need to decide who holds that.

If anyone disagrees with the partitioning - feel free to comment.

Male Human Bard 1

How did you get 362? 300 + 70 + 70 + 15 + 2 = 457.
75% of that = 342.75.
Adding 95 gives 437.75.
Split 7 ways gives us each 62.53.

Male Human Paladin 3 of Cayden Cailean

Eadric has taken the comp longbow (+2). Vanion has taken a regular longbow, but Eadric will add his own regular longbow to the loot, so that evens out. Vanion's shortbow is also now part of the loot to be sold. I vote to store whatever arrows not taken now, in the outpost, to replenish from whenever we return. The horses and rations are kept and distributed. The amulet is going to either Durn? or Bellis? it seems at this point.

The math is still wrong for the stuff being sold, even before you add the shortbow.
.
6 longbows (75x6 = 450gp)
1 shortbow (30gp)
7 leather armor (10x7 = 70gp)
7 shortswords (10x7 = 70gp)
1 longsword (15 gp)
1 dagger (2gp)

450 + 30 + 70 + 70+ 15 + 2 = 637 gp - 25% = 477.75 gp + 95 = 572.75 gp

Divided into 7 shares = 81 gp 8 sp 2cp, 1 horse and 2 days rations each (with 2 horses to use as pack animals and the remaining arrows).

The only question I would have is, do we need to account for, and even out, loot imbalance? Is this something the party wants to track? (For example, Eadric has gained 225gp in wealth with his comp longbow upgrade, Durn did not gain a horse (unless he wants to claim one of the 2 "extra" horses for himself), and Vanion gained 45gp with his bow upgrade.) I'm fine with whatever the group decides. PS I have no idea about any previous loot found, its' value or how it has been distributed.

EDIT: I am assuming that 7 of the horses each have bit & bridle, riding saddles (not military) and saddlebags (considering the bandits didn't? have backpacks)? While the 8th horse had the same but a pack saddle instead? Is this correct DK?

You both are right, I made both mistakes (First mistake - I computed 457 then thought I added the 95gp in it, so I subtracted it, while the second mistake was a plain error). Guess computing late at night isn't good for the results. As for the loot balance, I believe stuff will straighten itself out - I mean everyone will get something at some point, as long as we split things up roughly evenly (so far it seems fine). Upgrading should be the party's interest.

Split cash evenly, and loot on an as needed basis and it all evens out in the long haul.

Eadric...How long ago were you in your camp? What do you mean "gone by now"? To where? Where would they take her!?

Ula shaking:It not be me fault, as I said it were Apps. He gave er to some of the men and they took her to be sold I think. I don't know where, there are creatures or men that might buy her, I didn't ask. It were 5 days ago, she not be at the camp no longer...

You think he is telling part of the truth but he is also lying, you can't be sure about what though

Oleg:He is a craven scum, I want him hung. I demand justice for his crimes against me and many others including murder and rape! Svetlana remains quiet, but looks at Oleg in concern.

Later that day after cleaning up the yard and a decent lunch Oleg asks for a council with the group, Svetlana beams with encouragement!

Well GreenBelt Wardens, you have done us a great service. For that kindness and risking your life for ours I would like to give you a reward. Svetlana will not take no for an answer. Lets just say this will help us by helping you, if that makes you feel better about taking it.
First, I want you to know that whenever you stay here your food and lodging is on us going forward.
Second, I don't have much, but I want you to have these, 2 potions of cure light wounds, a potion of shield of faith-minor (+2), and 100gp in outpost credit.
Third, if you want anything that I don't have, I can get it for you in a week from Restov or other towns.
I doubt if the bandits will be back for a few days, what do you plan to do now?

Oleg's stock currently consists of:
a suit of leather armor, a heavy wooden shield, two hand axes, five javelins, a longbow, two dozen arrows, a scythe, two spears, two vials of antitoxin, six torches, two weeks of trail rations.

Oleg welcomes you to buy any of this stock with the store credit.

Does the spoiler require/allow a new Sense Motive roll or do we use our previous roll? Also, the result of Eadric's Detect Evil?

Male Human Paladin 3 of Cayden Cailean

It is your fault! To claim otherwise is further proof of your cowardice! You had a choice! Free men always have a choice! You only protest innocence under threat off steel or rope! If we were to show mercy upon you, you would repay us with returning to your wicked ways! That cannot be allowed. You will hang for your crimes! Hang until you are dead, for what you have done! But I implore you! Repent your evil ways, save your soul, and help us to save the girl if she still lives, or burn for all eternity in the abyss! If you have any idea where she might have been taken, tell us now, or I shall grant Oleg's request to hang you right now!

Female Halfling Cleric 1

Bellis looks at oleg in concern, wondering what she would do in his position.

Sense motive1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

After Oleg's council meeting Bellis thanks him personally then turns to the group to start the debate.

"I think its pretty clear that some of us here think we should attempt a resue of the young girl. the question is whether we think she is still at the camp. The bandit says nay but he seems unsure and needless to say a bandits word is not to be trusted, im sure he's lying about something.

"Whatever we do, if we stay in this land we will have to confront these bandits at some point. I say we move now whilst they are unaware of our presence."

"Shall we put it to a vote?"

I want to save the girl. Obi says as he sorts the remaining loot into packs on the 2 left over horses.
