I can't say that I am unhappy with this.

Personally I don't see what the fuss is over Megan Fox..she's got no talent and her looks are overrated.

Though I read the topic and thought 'Why is 20th Century Fox walking away from the franchise?'

Edit: She should also learn from Terrance Howard. I don't go to see Transformers for her, I go for Giant Stompy Robots. I didn't see IM 2 and express disapointment that Jim Rhodes was recast. I went to see the War Machine. (and Robert Downey jr. Tony Stark)

Me too... and I was quite pleased for a brief moment. Oh well.

[sarcasm]Oh... darn...she's such a good actress...[/sarcasm]

After the mess that was Transformers 2, I certainly don't give a flying squirrel what they do with the 3rd, as I'm likely to either only watch it when it comes on tv or avoid it altogether.

I just don't get the hate. Sure, 2 wasn't the greatest movie evar, but neither was 1. I do go to see giant stomy robots, and Megan Fox, while she won't be winning an Oscar for her performance in either film(or Jennifer's Body, which was disappointing), is still quite beautiful and isn't writing the film(i.e. responsible for the plot) or anything. I really don't get it- maybe standards of childhood entertainment are set a little too high. Sure, G.I. Joe was painful to watch, but I didn't think it was going to be the best thing since sliced bread or anything. And yeah, I'm disappointed Terrance Howard won't be in IM2, but I'll still check it out.

I think she's a cutie, and she had an enjoyable role in the first movie as Sam's love interest. She was hardly the core of the movie, either, but was a perfectly reasonable piece of window dressing on the picture. She wasn't the reason the second movie was lame either, but her absence won't really significantly add to or subtract from whatever the third movie ends up being.

Can't say I'm sad for the loss. Do I think she's hot? Sure. But Olivia Wilde is hotter in my opinion.
As with others, I watch the movies for the big stompy robots.

Although if they found a way to work Isabel Lucas back into Transformers 3 I would not be unhappy.

Me either =)

My question about Transformers 2 is...

.. with the thousands (litterally) of cool robots they could take from the existing pantheon that is the Transformers franchise why, oh dear Lord why, must they feel the need to create new stupid ones AND give them more screen time than Bumblebee or Optimus?

They could of shown us autobot Hound or Mirage... But no. Let's instead make up two idiotic baffoons and use them for comedy relief. Folks, I don't want to laugh when I go see Transformers; I want to be awed.

This movie franchise would do SO WELL if they would just stick with the program.

Shia LaBuff has admitted that the second movie was pretty crappy and has promised #3 will be better. As far as the twins go, my biggest gripe with them was thay took a great autobot character and turned him into Jar Jar Binks.

Shadow Lodge

Well, we're part of the way towards having a good Transformers movie. Next step is to drop Shia LeDouche and actually have the movie be about the giant robots that can turn into other things.

Hound or Mirage would have brought me into the theatres to see the movie...or Prowl, I loved Prowl. Honestly though, I thought their redesigns for the autobots were horrible and too busy looking as far as on the eyes. The original designs are something I thought looked better, but that could just be the nostalgia talkin...

Well, Megan Fox is hot. But hot is not why I watch transformers. It's part nostalgia and part male, testosterone-fuelled awe of everything with lots of horse power. Cars that can transform into guys? Great! You'll drive to a party, he transforms, you do drinking games, and then he drives you home! (Robots don't get drunk from alcohol - one of the many life lessons Futurama has told us).

Anyway, neither the nostalgia nor the metal-worship needs her.

And I agree with those who want to watch cars (and other stuff) transform into robots and think "awesome". That transformation part is so they can glorify technology and violence in a different form.

It is not meant to turn it into dumb humanoid stereotypes with bad accents and "get off my lawn" grampa attitudes.

For transformers, Bay should do what Lucas did for Star Wars: save money on the human actors and dismiss them as trivial, and pour everything into the special effects. Unless for Star Wars, where those humans are actually rather important, it could work wonders for Transformers. 85% and more transformers screen time (and 75% or more in action sequences) isn't too much to ask!

Ultradan wrote:

"Skids" wasn't made up for the movie, but his personality was drastically different from his very brief appearance in the cartoon series.

I have no clue about "Mudflap", likely AFTER my time, you know when Transformers no longer had metal parts, pfffttt.

-------------------------------------------
I enjoy the eyecandy that Megan Fox provides, however I agree with those above that 'she doesn't make or break the movie'. Insert a new hottie into some painted-on-jeans, a cleavage-exposing-shirt, then continue business as usual.

Liberty's Edge

I wonder if anyone remembers how god awful the cartoons were. And G.I. Joe for that matter. Wow, I still cannot believe anyone gets bent out of shape because a vehicle that exists solely for the purpose of Hasbro selling toys is a bit thin on plot.

;)

I was sort of hoping for a Bubblebee and Arcee hook-up with Arcee acting as Mikaela's new "bike"/protector.

I didn't until I bought the boxed set for my kids for Christmas. Still there were some bright spots.

Well, I'm actually disappointed. I watched the movies for Megan Fox and the explosions, and the two scenes Shia LeBoeuf and his asshat character isn't in.

I'd say I watched it for the stompy robots too, but they don't get enough lines, and the Twins in 2 I just found to be extremely embarrassing. Had to say I had few plans to see 3 anyway, so now I just turn a "probably won't" into a "definitely won't."

That's an awesome idea.

The third season of Transformers wasn't quite so horrid. However, it has been some time since I saw the "Starscream's Ghost" episode, so take my words with a bucket of salt (or a KFC Double Down... I'm sure it's about the same amount of sodium).

I want a Beast Wars movie.

I think most real Transformers/G.I. Joe don't really rate the cartoon versions at all...the comic series are generally considered to be the true canon. I can't really speak for Transformers, but G.I. Joe had some really good stuff. My one complaint would be that it was often a bit too Snake Eyes focused.

It was the 80's, and he was a ninja. Not really all that surprising.

Rosie Huntington Whiteley has been cast as the replacement for Megan Fox.

Me too. It would automatically score more point with me due to no humans. Well...no civilized humans that would somehow steal the spotlight from the giant transforming robots!

I don't think that was a requirement for that part, as proven by Ms. Fox.

After having to climb under my desk and work on getting cables plugged in and not. I've discovered something about transformers.

That grinding noise they make when they transform? They're 5 million years old. It's not a 'transforming noise' it's the sound of all joints creaking and popping.

Wait...there was a Transformers 2?

Well, ja. Don't get be wrong, I enjoy those pics. But, I'm watching the movie for big stompy robots. There are other "movies" that I could watch that are better suited for that pic, imo lol.

unfortunately yes, and it ruined what was actually a great first movie. although if you just shut your brain off it was good to watch exactly once, you just had to ignore the aweful twins, the balls joke on the otherwise awesome devastator, the terrible physics of devestator's suction. The fact that there was a person transformer. A whole lot, but the scenes with just transformers fighting were great.

Yeh a Victoria's Secret model who is dating Britain's worst actor(Jason Statham) is about right for a Transformers movie in my opinion

Well, at least Shia LaBeouf was decent enough to recognize they made a mistake and apologized for it. Not only that, but seemed to be sincere enough to want to try better next time. At least for me, that's enough to give the 3rd one a chance.

Regardless of canon or not, the '80s cartoon was still consistently better written, acted/performed, and directed than Bay's Transformers 2 (and often the first Transformers movie). My two nephews watched both the live-action movies a couple times, but consistently re-re-re-re-watch the Transformers: The Movie cartoon.

Bay needs to step into an executive producer role and let capable writers and a director take charge, like del Toro in the two Hellboys and Raimi in the first two Spider-Mans.

Can't argue with you there at all my friend. I just re-watched the first movie last night on TV, and good grief there are a ton of parts that make tiny adjustments. It gets to the point where Transforming is a liability. In any of the cartoons an autobot could drive up a ramp, fly at an enemy deceptacon, and transform mid-leap in about a flat second, maybe less, and bam into combat.

As the movies do it, it's basically just who can transform first (or bring the fire to bear on an untransformed target without transforming *cough*starscream*cough*)

Is that the 2nd movie your referring to? I haven't seen it yet, but in the first movie the only psychopath autobot was Jazz (which seemed to be partly to blame from watching too many action movies on the internet)

I will admit though, the shift from civilians fighting against the military deceptacons to a soldier vs soldier scenario didn't really appeal to me.

(Also... as cool as the new bumblebee is... I miss his old VW bug look and his 'team kid' persona)
