Expedition to Castle Ravenloft 4e

Gamer Connection

I'm working on a conversion of the Expedition to Castle Ravenloft to 4th edition and I'd like to playtest it here as a play by post. I expect at least one post a day, but weekends and such may be slower. I'm holding spots for Amelia and Rev Rosey, and I'll probably take 3 more players.

If you're interested post an idea for an 11th level character. Know that divine characters will do exceptionally well in this.

Sounds fun, I'd like in. I will step aside if there are any other candidates that really want in or Ravenloft fanatics as I'm already in two other current 4E PBP games.

Count me in as well :)

Well then, I'll take the third spot. Character concept forthcoming.

EDIT: You know, I have a halfling hybrid Rogue/Sorcerer Arcane Trickster sitting around. I think I'll go with that.

Any race or class restrictions?

I was thinking about a Human Charisma-based Paladin, unless someone wants to be the defender. (surprise surprise another Paladin)

It's all open. Since this is a playtest and we're starting at 11th level the party will already know each other, so even the wierd stuff is fine.

I'm thinking Githzerai. Wanted to play one since I got my PH3. Not sure what class yet though.

Oooh. Let me frolic with CB. Some kind of divine. No concept as yet. Just marking the spot.

You know the good thing about using a character you made earlier in the CB? You can just copy the information right into the alias.

Anyway, I ended up being a light controller, since I ended up only getting Sorcerer powers that were area burst 1, so if we somehow get into a situation that I can't use a burst one on the enemies when none of them of being flanked, I won't be doing that much damage.

Still, I can do 1d4+16 Radiant damage at will. Bring it on, Strahd. (It should be noted that I don't know a damn thing about Ravenloft beyond the whole "mists bring in rulers, who rule their nations while being tormented in semi-ironic ways" bit.)

I've worked up an interesting looking Avenger, but next up is invoker and I may look at a monk build too. Githzerai have neat racial feats.

Argh, I was out today! GW, do you think you can handle a 6th? I don't have nearly as much paragon experience as I'd like.

I have a Warforged Artificer lying around, just for giggles.

EDIT: Alchemist Savant

I'm inclined to ask bmars3 if he's still comfortable stepping aside. Since I'm doing this as a playtest, I'm more comfortable keeping things standard. So, it's up to bmars3.

Folks with the character builder, please send files to ghettowedge@yahoo.com, thanks.

Sent, after spending too long trying to find the save file.

Well, I know I won't be doing invoker :) That build didn't excite me like the Avenger did. In the morning gonna look at monk, and decide which to go with. Probably the avenger, but it's fun to play with CB.

Sounds good. Standing by.

Amael - paladin
Amy - avenger
Davi - rogue/sorcerer

Tickety boo. Fiddling around with a cleric/druid thing burgeoning in my head. Need to see if CB will play nice now. It's barfing the last update.

Darn! I think I missed the boat!

Possible avenger, maybe monk. Will know later today. Melee based striker for sure.

You are my first alternate no matter what, Heath.

You're the first alternate no matter what, Heath. Sorry you didn't get in on the ground floor.

Here's my character, although she's level 7, I made her
while waiting for a spot in Rosey's games :)
I'm going to take a look at her in more detail tonight,
and see if I'm going to stick with the Charisma route or
change some things around.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :D

Definately Avengering. Will email the BC file to you Ghetto, then set up the profile here.

Pat, go ahead and take my spot here in Ravenloft.
Ghetto and Pat, just put me down for first on the list of your next 4e games.

Thanks!

It's Amy :) Only a partial profile done here, but, basically color me as single target DPS with huge crit damage potential. I have a new fave feat: Githzerai Mobility. Adds wisdom bonus +1 to all defenses vs OAs.

And Pat.

I've already got you on my hit list next time I start up a game, if you're interested?

Still fiddling around trying to get Phenia to work. All I have is the name, but the rest will emerge. Shortly.

Very upright of you bmars3. Pat you're a go. Prankster and bmar3 are in reserve. You have the weekend to finalize characters while I set up maps and whatnot.

Ghetto: When would you like the characters done by?

If I had more time, I wouldn't be as upright. I get almost as much enjoyment out of following the 4e games in the forum as I do participating in them. Good luck to all.

Before Monday is best. That's as much to give me time as to give you time.

Whateverthe reason, again, thank you.

Pretty much done, but open to feedback. Tinker specializes in electricity, but also has a fair bit of thunder and poison.

Also done. Tinker looks cool!

I have a questions, Ghetto, applying to my Paragon Path of Relentless Slayer.

The Relentless Slayer gains a sort of favored enemy, called a Slayer's Enemy. Basically, it allows you to have 2 Oath targets at the same time, but the second one has to be from that specific type of monster. I personally think undead is much too broad a category, even though WotC uses demons as a example. I'm thinking mine will be Vampires, if you approve.

Phenia. Still adjusting her for a while I suspect, but she seems to sort of work.

Starpact warlock/Sehanine worshipping cleric hybrid. Not a natural pairing really, but that's what she wanted to be. Clearly this is just the cut and paste CB file at the moment, but once I've finished fiddling, I'll do it all properly :)

So, we got one defender, one and a half leaders, and two and a half strikers. I'm the closest thing we've got to a controller, and that's because of all my area damage. I'll get a bit more controllery next level once I get my paragon path's utility, but I'm still not going to be great at it. Let's do this thing.

Ghetto: I hate to ask this, but I'm figuring a Rhino mount wouldnt fly in Ravenloft would it :) I was thinking of getting a mount of some kind since I have the mounter combat feat (I know probably wasted feat but I love fluffing it up too).

vaguely curious in what world rhino mounts do fly . . .

Tweaked somewhat -- went from hide armor to leather, and from rod implement to crossbow implement. So I can use my poisons better!

lol yes, but the image would be awesome :)

Either is ok. All you're really gaining is a second oath target, not a second attack or even preventing him from doing anything. And it's not like the ranger's quarry or warlock's curse, which would give automatic extra damage. Your just getting an extra attack roll. So it's up to you.

If it makes sense for the character, I'll allow it. You would have gooten it before this adventure. There might be situations that will make it inconvient or difficult to use it though.

Very true. It could be very inconvenient and difficult, but in my child-like mind it could be very cool :) I'll think about it over the weekend and have my character done up by monday.
