My Golem is dead, now what?

Rules Questions

So if i crafted a golem, animated object or any other construct for that matter and it got reduced what then, do i have to pay all the expenses all over again ( essentially building a new ) or is there some way to revive the golem without have to pay for a new body? :)

The spell you want is make whole. It heals your construct, even when destroyed.

Ask your DM. He may give you a 25% discount or some such for having some reusable materials. maybe even reduced time to make the new one.

Otherwise its off to the drawing board for the new construct.

That works pretty good too. =-D

RAW it does not "revive" destroyed constructs. It remakes destroyed items. A construct is not an item. It is considered to be a creature, but considering how much they cost if I were your DM I might let it work.

Mmm... good!

You might also get good mileage from the Repair line of spells in the 3.5 Spell Compendium. Quite valuable for any arcane casters who own constructs. Of course, it's too late for these spells when you're construct is already dead...

From the "construct type" entry in the bestiary:

Cannot heal damage on its own, but often can be repaired via exposure to a certain kind of effect (see the creature's description for details) or through the use of the Craft Construct feat. Constructs can also be healed through spells such as make whole. A construct with the fast healing special quality still benefits from that quality.

I did, however, somehow miss these two lines:
Immediately destroyed when reduced to 0 hit points or less.
A construct cannot be raised or resurrected.

So it looks like, once your golem is dead, you have to spring for a whole new one. Luckily, you have all the raw materials you need, already crafted and ready to go, lying on the ground at your feet. You just need some scrolls and some time to get it functioning again.

Scarab Sages

Meh, the raw materials are "used up" in the creation of the construct. So I'd think you'd need to pay for the materials again. They're consumed, not allocated to that particular golem. I imagine various expensive powders, oils, crystals, whatever, burning as fuel to create your item.

Note this is from the bestiary construct creation stuff.

But I definitely wouldn't let a character use a defunct construct as the raw material to create a new one. I'd never be able to put them against a construct again!

:p

You could also research an arcane spell that is equivalent to raise dead for constructs.

Off the top of my head...
Revive constuct Wizard/Sorcerer 7 - As per raise dead with the following differences. This spell can raise constructs from the dead. This spell only works on constructs. This spell causes no negative levels. This spell requires a <insert material here> worth 7000 gold(5000 for raise dead and 2000 for 2 restorations)

Considering that Undead have the same restriction, and there is Revive Undead spell, it follows that there should be a Revive Construct-type spell.

I seem to remember one being in some book, but I can't seem to find it. Assume it's a 6th level spell like Revive Undead, so a Wish or even Limited Wish can replicate it.

I went with level 7 because it is duplicating raise dead + 2 restorations in a single spell, but considering that its target is a lot more limited than raise dead, it being a level 6 spell would probably be ok.
