Eidolons and 3+ weapons and multible big weapons

Rules Questions

I've got an quadruped eildolon I've given 2 limbs(arms) evos and 2 greataxes. my questions are:

1. does he need TWF? (I would assume yes)

2. if so what would him minuses be? (I'm guessing -4/-4 because a greataxe is REALLY not a light weapon but he IS using 2 arms per axe)

3. what Strength damage would he be doing? ( 1-1/2 STR on both? 1-1/2 STR on the main and 3/4 STR on the of hand?)

4. if i gave him another set of arms and another great axe what would his minuses be? (seeing as multi-weapon fighting isn't open I'm not really sure)

I'm sure that most of these have been answered some where in the vast threads about the big E but i only wish I had the time and patience to try and find them.

This is sure to bring up a hefty debate, as it is unclear in the rules.

My take on your questions is this:

1/4. Yes, or multi-weapon fighting. Monstrous feats are not entirely disallow for PCs, and since Es mechanically functions a lot like monsters, I'd allow most of them.
Somehow MWF seems like a cheap way to get TWF, since it only dex 13, so I make an adjustment there.

2. -4/-4

3. That is a matter of perspective. By RAW off-hand weapons only deal ½ str damage. You might bump it up to 1, but that might not be very balanced, when you additionaly a ½ from double slice.

Thank for the input, but if not mistaken bestiary feats were specifically disallowed for animal companions and the big E, thus making muti-weapons fighting not an option. that being said I don't know what his minuses would be for the third axe if i were to give it to him.

1. Unless you wish the full penalties for TWF without the feat. Kinda like asking 'my normal PC has 2 daggers, does he need TWF?'

2. A great axe is, indeed, not a light weapon.

3. The main weapon gets it's normal STR mod to damage (1-1/2), the 'off-hand' weapon gets 1/2 STR.

4. Without multiweapon fighting he would only get 1 'extra' attack, not 1 for each extra weapon, much like a 'normal PC has 2 daggers and armor spikes'. You could alternate between them if that mattered (again like the normal PC with 2 daggers could) via high BAB, but you won't get more than 1 extra attack. So take multiweapon fighting. The penalties would be the same and you'd get 1 extra attack with each offhand axe.

They are in general questions about monsters rather than specific to the eidolon in anyway.

I would suggest that you go with light weapons for the offhands or ones that count as light (that red mantis exotic sword for example).

Hope this helps,

James

Multi-weapon fighting has a very difficult prerequisite -- three or more hands. Since your Eidolon has that, the feat should be available.
As for fighting with multiple big weapons, the rules don't seem to cover this. By default, I'd assume you take a -4 and essentially gain +1/2 Str for each off-hand you use with a weapon -- so your second two-handed weapon gets a full Str mod, but not 1-1/2.
Really, it seems like you'd be much better off holding light weapons in your off-hands.

doesn't 1/2 strength seem kinda low for a weapon wielded in 2 hands even if it is an off-and weapon?

if bestiary feats were permitted (they were made illegal for eidolons and animal companions by the Lead Designer in the summoner playtest thread) I would be using 4+ light weapons instead of the great axes, but sadly I have to settle with TWF. I agree with your strength damage. 1/2 strength seem too low and 1-1/2 seem really powerful.

I knew they were verboten for Pathfinder Society, but I didn't realize that was supposed to extend to non-society play.

I am making this for the Society, so its not legal for me. you lucky people out of the society get an easy road to multi-weapon fighting goodness for the big E.
