My sorcerer will soon be leveling up, and plans on taking Rope trick as his first 2nd level spell. Would I be able to do this?
At the beginning of combat, cast Rope Trick on a 10 ft. rope, climb up. Next round, lean out of the Rope Trick, cast something, lean back in.

Without even consulting the RAW, I'd say no just because it's cheap.

I would say it is a move action to get into a position to cast a spell through the opening, since spells cannot be cast across the opening you would have to be hanging out of the opening.

This means you wouldn't be able to lean out, cast, and lean back in in the same round since that would be 3 actions total.

How exactly are you leaning out of an extradimensional space? Rope Trick doesn't make a hole in the sky, it just lets you climb a rope into Wonderland. You have to climb the rope down to leave.

And what about a party who wants to bring a medium cat with them... The beast has to climb the rope or in can be bring with a harness? It can be pulled from the ground since the end of the rope is in other dimension. If not, there's no reason why arrow flying from the ground cannot go throw as well

the spell is meant as a way to sleep safely at night, not make yourself immune to retribution for hitting someone in the face with a scorching ray.

At best it's like creating a wall to hide behind. The hole would block line of effect, but you would still need to be partially exposed to not be blocked yourself. You'd benefit from cover, but nothing else.

Such a use is an interesting use of Rope Trick, but not out of line with other 2nd level effects

I guess my question was not clear... what if the ranger want to bring his medium size cat in the dimensional space... the cat can't climb on the rope so I guess that it cannot reach the dimensional space?

By RAW, it can climb the rope, easily, as its climb skill exceeds the ropes climb DC. Not sensible, but this is the rules forum ;-)

It would be a harsh GM who wouldn't let you pull up the cat.
