Question on Tiefling variant abilities

Rules Questions

On varient ability
16 You have oversized limbs, allowing you to use Large
weapons without penalty.

Would this potentially allow a monk to deal unarmed strike damage as a Large creature?

Not unless the ability changed the Tiefling's size to Large.

Yup; the monk's size doesn't change so his unarmed strikes don't change.

I thankya much. M'crew was debating this and I was giving them the responce that it didn't state it and they were going with the defense "but it's implied" with the retort of nowhere in the entry does it state that this ability grants the powerful build extraordinary ability. So much debate insued.

I have a question about the same ability so I necro this old thread:

When a tiefling with that ability uses a large onehanded weapon, does he need one or two hands?
In other words does this ability only negate the penalty to hit or does it prevent the weapon becoming twohanded as well?

it looks like it only negates the penalty to hit. it says "he can use large weapons without penalty", not "he can use weapons as though he were one size category larger" or "he treats large weapons as though they were one size category smaller".

That's what I guessed. But I wanted another opinion.
Thanks.

it was a valid question. the plus side is it sounds like it should scale with enlarge person, so your 10' reach tiefling could use a huge-sized one hander...... think whip for its 15' reach, meaning you would threaten a 20' radius. add combat reflexes and one of the feats / item abilities that lets whips do legit slashing damage and you'd have a monster battlefield control dude with solid damage. especially if you tag on a couple trip feats!!
