Three of the four players are Medium, but one is playing a halfling. And they're all chaotic.
If they're carrying an actual palanquin? I'd give them about twenty seconds before the sucker drops.
not fall, it will be thrown with force, lots of force, into a pit of lava
Sometimes Chaos leads to order. Make a will save boys!!!!
Not really sure what being chaotic has to do with it, but the fact that one of the four carriers is 2 (or more) feet shorter than the others will make carrying it very difficult, if not impossible.

I'd figure the weight of the total load, and divide it by four. If the halfling character can "lift overhead" their share of the weight, I'd say it's fine. Everyone else holds it at waist height and he or she holds their handle over their head.
