Undead Ironborn

Rules Questions

The Exchange

Okay, so I have a player who's character is an Ironborn, and they are in a very undead-heavy place. There's nothing saying that they can't be turned into undead, but it seems rather odd to me that they would be able to, say, become a vampire (which is a very real threat). For those of you that are familiar with the ironborn, what are your opinions on the matter?

Being vampiric is not a stretch. An IB vampire might bathe in the blood, absorbing it through the now permeable membranes of his\her organic portions. Figuring out how the various vampire magic abilities would affect the ironborn's body is the interesting bit.

Are these Monte Cook's ironborn or the Pathfinder derivative?

Sigurd

The pathfinder derivative, and they are about to enter a Vampire's lair... Even though he is a monk with an insane will save and a monster grapple check, there's still a chance that he might be turned into one of the beasties.

What gets me more is the idea of the vampire grabbing him, and then sinking his fangs into the tubes carrying his transmission fluid, or whatever proxy they use for blood. After all, what vampire wants to stick his fangs into a robot? Unless they actually do have blood, in which case I can see this.

Keep in mind that vampires can also create spawn from those killed by the negative levels they inflict with their slam attacks. The ironborn monk doesn't need the old fangs in the neck bit to be turned.

Also, and this may be a bit of a fluff change, but you could say that a vampire drinks the lifeblood of it's opponent in a very liberal sense. Meaning, it doesn't need to be literal blood, just whatever substance keeps its victims alive.

I'm aware that they can be created through negative levels, but this particular vampire doesn't want to make weak spawns out of the PC's... he wants formidable new servants.

I think I'll run it off of the ironborn's fluff- That they are outwardly artificial beings with the inner workings of an organic being. I'll take this to include blood and all
