Help filling in the blanks.

Advice

Two part request.

part 1: I am building a lvl 7 gestalt rogue/ monk female drow as a recurring skirmishing villain.

20 pt buy, 16- 18 ish str, vanishing trick and wis > dex.

Please, make it nasty.

Part 2: there is a trade route carved through a mountain. Avg of 30 ft wide by 15 ft high. Any advice for hasty made traps or hazards would be great to break up the monotony.

The story behind the road: dwarves carved out a trade route to shave a week off travel time. There is a small outpost on either end. Many goblinoids with the help of a drow city (directly under the trade route) carved a way into the route and supprise ambushed the out posts and have had 1-2 weeks to set up shop before the PCs investigate.

i'm not sure that rogue is the way to go... what are you trying to gain from that? just the sneak attack? spending 2 of your 3 talents to get vanishing trick seems silly- if you want to make a guy like this just make a monk/ninja...

that said, it seems like there would be better combos for similar villains. for example, lvl 7 illusionist/rogue could use improved invisibility to gain all the benefits of vanishing trick for the entire combat (instead of just until your next attack), plus you have a bunch of spells for defense (which a stealthy illusionist can buff with right before ambushing the party).

Pretty sold on the rogue/ monk/ drow thing. It becomes important later. The ki pool must come from wis, and too much ki will kill the part. And magic is not an option in this case in particular.

Perhaps it would be easier to be of assistance if we knew more of this drows role in the campaign.

For now... Vanish, flurry of sneak attacks, flee. Once the ki pool is exhausted she puts up a moderate last stand before surrendering and giving the PCs vital info. If the paladin doesn't let her be slaughtered, she comes back later.

There are certain themes that must be observed with my sub bosses, and this one is a drow rogue/ monk with vanishing trick.

it sounds like this might be a little different from what you had in mind but within your parameters i'd suggest thinking about:

Drow [Darklands Stalker]
Rogue[Sniper]/Monk[Zen Archer] 7
Str 14; Dex 14+2; Con 12-2;
Int 9; Wis 17+1; Cha 7+2

skills (max ranks in each)-
acrobatics, perception, stealth, any 4 others...

feats and talents:
1- (bonus)perfect strike, (monk)point-blank, precise shot
2- (bonus)weapon focus[longsword], (monk)deflect arrows; ki pool
3- (bonus)point-blank master, skill focus[stealth]
4- ninja trick[vanishing trick]
5- deadly aim
6- (bonus)wpn spec[longbow], (monk)imp precise shot; sniper's eyes
7- bullseye shot

this may not look like a nasty build on casual viewing, but remember that as an ambusher she'll get to pick where the fight happens... so make use of the darkness of a tunnel (and her crazy darkvision) plus rough terrain (which she can move through a little of with Darklands Stalker) to get some free flurry/sneak attack awesomeness bfore combat starts, and if/when possible flee and repeat.

lol- i just realized i put weapon focus[longsword], that should obviously be wf[longbow]. also, i just wanted to point out that she can sneak attack from 50' with her bow, so she can hangout outside of the range of a torch or light spell (including the dim illumination) and make sneak attacks without even needing to roll stealth checks (or spend move actions to do so)

Beautiful Nate, that's dern near perfect. I have a long way to prep and a short time to get there, this helps a lot!

Any other takers?

i noticed you're still looking for other ideas- one did occur to me, but it requires a little fudging. a monk[weapon master]/rogue[knife fighter] would be cool and effective, but only if there was a weapon that worked with all of both class' abilities... there isn't technically but you could easily add sai or siangham to the list of 'knife-like' weapons, and that would make for an interesting melee-focused build.

No, I think I like what you did, I was referring more to the "part 2" section.
