Acutally I counted 9, so one of those spells was actually magic missile, but there is no difference between the two. I well mention again, we should run, I only have ray of frost left and then I'll be useless....
William, feeling greatly stressed, listens to the steps of what he believes is Janiven and relief flows through him. Ah, Janiven. Filled with confidence, William wipes the sweat from his forehead and strikes the beast once again, this time with a splash of acid, straight for the eyes. "Enjoy this!"

Plan of Action:
This battle begins to wear down William for he has lost most of his spells. In his last efforts, still determined, he casts acid spash directed at his eyes, if possible.
To Strike:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Damage:1d3 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

With a look of concentration on his face, William focuses on the creatures eye stalk. Within seconds a small orb of acid fires from his finger tips barely missing the creature but landing straight on James.

The otyugh flings the lifeless bodies of Yoki and Lucius up against the northern sewer wall. Their corpses sink below the sewage.

Burning from the acid, James attempts to hit the massive beast, his rapier driving deep into one of the tentacles as it moves past him.

Janiven brandishes her bow, ’ Quick, over here!!’, she fires a shot from her longbow, hitting the otyugh deep in its massive body.

A dwarf, dressed in a finely polished suit of scale mail, comes up from behind Janiven. ’ Lads, if you want to live retreat this way so Janiven and I can lead you out.’

John turns to Morosino, ’Hey man…we need to get out of here.’ John then jumps onto the horse ’Hold on!!’

Damage taken:
James 5 points acid

William 20
Otyugh 16
Yoki 15, unconscious
Lucius 14, unconscious

"Let us not delay... Come one everyone!" William says with his heart pumping hoping not to be the next one to be taken down in the great merky water.

Male Tiefling Rogue/2

"Ah man that stings! What the heck man I'm on your side remember!"

Action:
I'm going to withdraw from combat and move to square J,3
Acrobatics-1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12.

Male Chelaxian Bard 2

"What in the heck is this monster doing down here?"

Spoiler:
I am going to run past the monster and try and jump the gap. 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

Male Dwarf Fighter 2

action:
If the other characters have not started withdrawing then Drolgun will yell, "Lads, now is nae the time to be yappin, but time to be runnin. Of course, if ye want to be the monsters next meal, then by all means stay. Other wise, MOVE!"

Drolgun will move to L7 and readies an attack if the the monster moves towards Janiven or the platform they are on.

Koloran and Lythar:

You have been aiding Janiven and Arael in the last few weeks in fighting the evil that has taken hold in Westcrown. While Janiven and Arael differ in their beliefs, they both share a common goal; to protect the people of Westcrown and, some day, return the city to the splendor and glory it possessed before Aroden’s death and the rise of the House of Thrune. While the group’s goals are idealistic, they’re also the types of ideas that threaten the current Chelish government. As a result, Arael and Janiven hope to keep the true nature of their organization a secret from the government while building a strong relationship with the city’s people, so that when the time comes to publicly declare themselves, they’ll have the support of the city’s citizens – something that surely the House of Thrune must respect.

Among the ‘Children of Westcrown’ (the group is still debating on what to call themselves), Koloron has found companionship not only with Arael but with Fiosa as well. Fiosa’s a female Halfling who is a local house servant with many friends who are Halfling slaves; she uses her freedom to help her kin as best as she can. You have noticed during your talks with her that she has a very real respect for Janiven and Areal after they helped her smuggle several Halflings slaves out of a particular heinous merchant’s home in Westcrown. Between discussions with you and Arael her new found faith in Iomedae is quite strong.

While Koloron has grown close to Arael and Fiosa, Lythar has formed a silent bond with Larko, a Garundi male who is soft-spoken and lives the simple life as a dock worker. Larko was born in the hills east of Westcrown and hopes someday to be able to afford to move out of the city and live a hunter’s life. Larko remains pretty quiet most of the time, but he seems to come alive when you mention the areas outside of the city.

Even though the group has found a safe haven in an abandoned shrine to Aroden, it had become apparent to your group that the few experienced members of the group cannot do it alone, even though you have the backing of the other ‘Children of Westcrown’, their aid is minor as they are not trained to aid in the manner you need. It was decided that the group would try to find others to aid in your cause. Janiven and Arael decided to have a meeting, similar to when they had approached you, to try to gather more followers to aid the cause. However, you recently saw Janiven come to the door in a panic and run off with Drolgun, the dwarf of the group. Did you hear someone say the Arael had been captured?

William takes the opportunity to get away from the otyugh, taking the quickest route over the sewer trench.

William, next time I will need more 'strategic' instructions when you attempt to leave battle. Typically, it would either be a Withdraw action or a 5 foot step to avoid any attacks of opportunity. Keep that in mind for the next time.

Once again focused on James, the otyugh sends both tentacles flying towards him. James nimble ability allows for both attacks to miss.
Seeing his chance, James makes a bee line out of the way.

Janiven fires another shot with her bow, ’Come on John, we don’t have all day!!’, the arrow finds its mark on the wounded otyugh.

Drolgun steps forward, axe at the ready.

John urges the horse forward. As if it had wings, the horse jumps both gaps perfectly, landing between Janiven and William.

’Back away slowly guys, it looks as if he’s had enough as well!’ Janiven says as she slowly backs toward the sewer tunnel.

The otyugh notices the party moving away. It calmly reaches toward the bodies of Lucius and Yoki and pulls them in toward him. Slowly he begins to lower himself back into the muck as the light in the area gradually dims back to normal.

’Is everyone ok? James…you don’t look that good. How are you feeling?’ Janiven says after taking the time to check everyone out. ’We shouldn’t have much further to go. Just keep close.’

Soon you are making your way through the sewer again, taking turn after confusing turn as Janiven leads the way. Before too long she stops at what appears to be a sewer entrance, or exit in your case. ’We’re here!’ she says as she climbs up the sewer ladder and pushes the grate aside. Janiven peeks her head out, looks from side to side and quickly climbs to the surface. ’Up here, quick!’

As you exit the sewer you notice you are in an out-of-the-way alley, behind what appears to be an old abandoned shrine to Aroden. Janiven approaches the abandoned building and knocks on what appears to be a boarded door. A few moments later the door is opened by a nervous looking man with a lantern. ’Quickly!!’ he says as he usher’s you inside. 'Thank you Ermolos!', Janiven says as she quickly moves inside.

From the outside the abandoned shrine has an old and filthy look, exterior doors and windows are boarded, and cracks lie in the mortar, but once inside you realize that the building is far from vacant. All the interior doors and windows are covered with dark curtains to keep up the façade of being abandoned.

Janiven looks down to a female halfling standing off to the side, 'Fiosa, do you mind showing our guests here to the washroom. I'm sure they would like to get that smell off of them. I'll find you something to eat and a place to rest for it is late and we need get some sleep. In the morning I will introduce you to the rest of the group.'

Sewer encounter over, 400 exp. for those who made it out of the sewer.

Male Dwarf Fighter 2

Drolgun nods to the three remaining from the trek through the sewers and says, 'Nice little fight lads. I'm sorry about comrades weren't able to make it. That beast is not one I would have chosen to stand to and fight with. Now go rest and clean up. Preferably not in that order though. We'll talk later.'

Male Tiefling Rogue/2

"Orky dorky uhhh....Whats your name?" James says while looking around the place.

Male Dwarf Fighter 2

Drolgun looks at James and says 'Drolgun, Drolgun Scorehamer.' He then breathes in through his nose. 'Lad, don't take this the wrong way, but go get cleaned up. You smell worse than I and I'm too fragrant to even want a drink before I clean up.'

Drolgun then heads off to get rid of the smell.

DisturbedGM - I'm guessing that Drolgun has been here before and knows the way to the washroom or another room where he can get clean. If not, he'll follow Fiosa.

Gotcha, my mistake.

William, happy to be out of the sewers, speaks in an almost cheerful tone, "Lead the way miss, if you please."

Male Half-Elf Ranger 2

The cloaked figure sits in the back watching the group enter in. From across the way he can smell them as if they were right next to him. He is propped up in a chair his feet up on a table the cloak allowed to fall away from his form. He has a very rugged look, like that of a street urchin, but the dirt and grime say he is from the wild. The lean form is in weather worn clothes and a patched together cloak. His arms folded across his chest show that though he may be rather lean he is still strong. On his hip is a sword, simple, just what he needs to get the job done, and on his back a quiver and bow. The only thing hidden is the upper portion of his face. His strong chin is visible and even though they are unseen you can feel his eyes piercing through you, measureing you, searching for the weak points in your armor. His ears, hidden in the darkness of the hood, pick up on the slightest noise, even the ruffling of the travelers clothing. He slowly pulls out a pipe and some leaves which he crumples up and places in the pipe. Using a candle he lights it giving a quick glimpse of his fair features. The candle glints off of a medalion that he wears around his neck. A wolf facing a dragon etched into the metal medalion.

DisturbedGM:
'Janiven' he calls his voice low but melodic. 'Are these the ones that you spoke of? I thought there were more. Did something happen? And what of Arael? He has not returned and I heard you say earlier that he was captured.

Male Tiefling Rogue/2

"Where's the washroom, Drolguns right I smell worse then him! Hey also this right here really hurts, oh and this one, and ah oww and this one."

Guys I only have 1 hit point left! DisturbedGM will we recieve our HP back or do we need to use a potion.

Lythar wrote:

'Why yes, Lythar, these are the ones that we have been speaking of. Well, at least most of them. We had lost two in the sewers. Well...three actually, but I don't think he was ever really on our side like we had hoped.' Janiven pauses for a moment to reflect on the loss of the last two members. Shortly she returns back to her train of thought. 'What of Arael you ask? Well, last we were told, correct me if I'm wrong Morosino, the dotarri and the Hellknights of the Rack were arguing over who had 'jurisdiction' in this case. Not much we can do about it now until we find out a little more information. I'm sure by morning we will hopefully be able to find out more.'

James wrote:

Everyone will only be able to gain 1 hp back after one full nights rest, for any more you will need to seek out healing via spell or healing potion.

Drolgun, Lythar, and Koloran:

XP total for you guys should be 1200. This helps in balancing out the party and shows you guys as ‘working’ for the last few weeks.

’Follow me!’, Fiosa says as she leads you across the hall. ’You can wash up in here. The room over there…’, she points to a door directly across from the wash room, ’is where you will be sleeping tonight. May Iomedea bless you.’ At that note, she leaves to let you wash and prepare for some sleep. Shortly thereafter Janiven enters the hall, ‘It’s not much, but here is some bread and a few slices of meat. Get some rest and we will speak in the morning.’

TICK, TOCK, TICK, TOCK

You awake to some arguing going on in what use to be the chapel.

’I say, ‘The Knights of Westcrown’, it has a great ring to it!’, says Ermolos, his shirt stained with ash and soot.

’That sounds fine, but I think we don’t really need any more knights in Westcrown if you get my meaning. I think the ‘Scions of Aroden’ is what we should be known by!’ says Scalvo, a man with a dark complextion, wearing what appears to be clothing from the courts of Westcrown.

Fiosa speaks up, ’I think we need something a little gentler, maybe more subtle. How about ‘Guardians of Cheliax’ or even ‘Children of Westcrown’?’

Janiven stands up at this point, ’I agree with Fiosa, we don’t want anything that will strike fear into the people we are trying to protect!’

’Well…I don’t like any of em’!’ shouts Yakopulio, a female gnome, from across the room. ’We surely don’t need anything with Aroden or Iomedea in the name!!’

James and John recognize this woman as the one they first met at the Bruised Eel.

A Chelish male makes his way up from the back of the room. His hands busy carving up a piece of wood, the strangest thing you notice about him is that his hair is green. ’Well, I kind of like the Children of Westcrown, it has a natural feeling to it.’

’Oh, just get this over with already. You are making way too much noise.’ says a woman dressed in her finest, for a commoner, with her nose stuck in a book. ’It can’t be that hard…maybe you should just flip the Halfling for it!!’

William recognizes this woman as the one that approached him outside the Trivardum.

’I think we need something to show that we are not going to stand here and take it. We need to show Westcrown what can be done with force!’, says Rizzardo, a young Varisian male, as he pounds his fist on the bench standing before him.

Mathelen, a young female Chelaxian, calmly looks to the rash brute, ’Now calm down Rizzardo. You must take the time to meditate before your anger gets the best of you. Now breath…in…out…in…out..’

’Oh…forget you and your meditating…no wonder you can't keep a job lately!’ Rizzardo fires back.

From the corner comes a voice from the ever silent Larko, a male Garundi, who appears dressed in the garb of a dock worker. ’I think you have no room to talk Rizzardo. Aren’t you the one who ends up losing jobs right and left because you can’t control your temper?’

’Aw..shut up you river rat, before I come over there and make you quiet permanently!’ Rizzardo says as he curls his fist.

’Now settle down you two!’ Janiven says, as she is interrupted by a man with amber covered eyes. 'Wait Janiven, maybe they need to work this out!!' Gorvio says with a sly smile, 'You know those two never get along.'

'That may be true but all of us are here for a reason.' Janiven says attempting to change the subject. 'We all agree that Westcrown is in need of change and by all of us being here we show that we are willing to do what it takes to make Westcrown the place it use to be.'

Janiven pauses for a moment. 'As trivial as it may be, we have also agreed that when the time comes to act that there are two things we need to do. One, is to hide our identities, so that our loved ones are not held accountable for what we do. Two, is that we need to give the public somthing by which to identify us by, not as individuals, but as members of unified group. In these two things we have decided, as a group, to not only wear either a hooded cloaks or full helms whenever a memeber of the group is performing a 'public service', but to also wear a red cloth armband on our right arm. Something to show our unity but also to protect our identity to keep our private lives separate from the work we do as whatever we decide to call ourselves.'

Janiven looks to the adventurers, 'Do you guys have any suggestions for a name??'

Use this time to interact with the new group members and maybe describe a little about who your character is or what he is about. No I did not forget about Arael.

William speaks to everyone but his attention is drawn to Janiven,"Though we are not children, I think the name 'The Children of Westcrown' would be best. It supports our unnification as a group and our support to our city. On another note, the city guard may not even take us seriouly, which would actually help until they notice what we have done. William moves over across the room to the finely dressed Chelixian woman. "Hello, my name is William Leroung. I don't think we formally met. William pauses for a second. "I hope I am not bothering you, am I? William will take a seat if she is at a table and if I am not bothering her.

Do I already have my spells prepared? I plan on keeping the spells I had prepared yesterday.

Male Half-Elf Ranger 2

Lythar stands beside Larko giving a dark glare in the direction of Rizzardo. Taking a quick look around he sees the five members that he would be joining. As a quick look over it appeared that he would be with several different races and classes. The necklace that he wore shown brightly in the firelight. Look to Janiven, 'I agree with the gnome woman. Using the name of a particular goddess will only appeal to a portion of the people in Westcrown. I also agree with some of what Ermolos and Fiosa are saying. We should have a gentle name so that the people are not afraid of us, but we must also have a name that tells our enemies that we are not going to simply disappear. My vote is for Guardians of Cheliax. It will appeal to the people in the fashion that we are here to protect them but also strike fear into the heart of the enemies that come against us.'

Silently as if on air Lythar walks to James looking him up and down. His eyes hidden behind the shadow that his hood creates. 'You are a Tiefling right? And by the clothes you wear I would also say that you are a Rogue. I have heard many tales of your kind. Some of the feats that they have done. And I can see the same spirit in your eyes. And the wounds you have tell me that you are a fighter. If you don't mind me asking, Why did you choose to take part in this quest?' The entire time talking to James he has his ear out for anything that Rizzardo might do that would threaten Larko.

Male Dwarf Fighter 2

Drolgun scowls as some of the conversation so far. He then steps forward stating Well, I am not of Westcrown, nor am I a child. But the fear and circumstances that the people of this town endure must end. So, no I do not think the name "Children" appropriate. And not all of us will behave as knights. He looks to James and John and raises his mug to them. We are not strong enough yet to survive the attention of the dotarri or the Rack. So how 'bout we go with something less troublesome and more stable sounding like the Three Columns. He looks to Koloran as he continues. The columns of justice, honor, and valor.

He pauses to take a drink from the mug in his hand and continues. It does not tie us directly to any particular deity, neighborhood, or code. Yet lays a solid foundation for something sturdy and strong to be atop of.

And after another yet another drink, And it's a proper name for a group that shall include a dwarf.

He takes a large gulp and begins to walk towards Ermolos as he wipes his mouth with the back of his forearm. Really Ermolos, the Knights of Westcrown? Why would you want to follow such a code. Can't attack from behind or first. Where's the fun in that?

Male Human Cleric 2

As Drolgun finishes, Koloran who was kneeling in solemn prayer in the front of the chapel stands and approaches the group. 'Speaking as a 'child of Westcrown' myself and one who believes honor and valor are vitally important in the battle against the evil lurking outside those doors I still see wisdom in Drolgun's words. We can ill afford to attract the attention of the so-called 'leadership' of Westcrown until we have the support of the people.'
Koloran's eyes drift down to the floor as if lost in memory, his face starts to redden and his voice becomes more angry...'However...when I walk down the streets of my home city and see honest folk cowering in fear...or children being beaten by Hellknights and their devil-worshipping puppet masters my blood boils and my skin crawls!'
Koloran seems surprised by his own outburst and forces himself to regain his composure. 'We need a name that gives people hope and conveys strength. I also cast my vote for Guardians of Cheliax.'

Koloran will seek out James, John and William. 'Welcome friends, I am Koloran Melldorn and I am a servant of Iomedae.' he then sharply raises his right arm and places a balled fist over his heart and bows slightly in salute. 'Janiven has informed me of your trouble in the sewers. We are grateful for your sacrifice and if you have need of the The Inheritor's mercy you have only but to ask.'

Male Chelaxian Bard 2

John looks around to everyone, "Considering I don't know half of you here or who I will really be traveling with so, I will introduce myself to everyone...in song." John says as he picks up his mandolin.

A while after his song he walks up to the few discussing the name of the group. "Well, since we are all here what do we got?.. I think we should be the Burning Lance of the Last Corruption in the Land of Chelaxian Empires or simply BLLCLCE. I also like the name Life Concord." John then puts his mandolin away and looks at the Drolgun, then at Koloran. "Just let me know what the name is before we go."

Drolgun turns his attention from his conversation with Ermolos back to the discussion of a party name. Could we compromise on a name? I don't think I want to settle all of Cheliax's issues, so how 'bout we go with something like the lad said. A name that the people can rally 'round and something the devil lovers will fear.

Drolgun takes a large drink from his mug and continues, So let us call ourselves the Guardians of Justice.

It seems that everyone is finding something new about themselves. He patted James on the arm seeing that the two of them were going to get along just fine.

I will agree on Guardians of Justice. It will allow us freedom to move and also make it near impossible for them to trace us. They will probably be expecting someone outside of Westcrown. They will not really suspect people of Westcrown to be involved with such a name. His now revealed face and ears open for all to see. And from past insults was now preparing himself for any jokes or insults that might be coming up.

He turns his eyes to the one called William. A leader lythar thinks to himself. A well dressed one at that Lythar makes his way over to him. Noticing both the raven and his book he guesses that he is a spellcaster of sorts. "Greetings. I am Lythar Baelvain. It is indeed that our paths have no crossed, by your looks I would suggest you are a ranger of some sort. A man used to the wild and his surroundings I'm sure. I am sure we will work well as a team." William blinks and tries to move his head from the flashing medalion. "It is quite alright. That is a magnificent medalion, does it represent anything of some sort?"

'If there are no objections….’Guardians of Justice’ it is then!!' Janiven says with a grin.

Your discussion is suddenly disturbed by a knocking on the door.

Janiven makes her way to the door that is disguised as barred and peaks out a small hole to peer at the visitor. You see her cautiously open the door to the side and in steps Amaya, a young Tian woman who looks incredibly beautiful but dresses rather plainly. You can tell by the way she carries herself that she is rather self-conscious about her looks.

John recognizes the woman as the one who approached him outside the Bruised Eel.

’Miss Janiven, ’ she says slightly bowing showing respect, ’I have more information on Arael. Apparently it seems as if the argument over jurisdiction has come to favor the Hellknights. They are the ones who have Arael now. Rumor has it, that the Hellknights are preparing to move Arael from the city jail to Citadel Rivad.’ As small gasp goes out from the local members and whispers begin to go around.

’It will only be a matter of time before the Hellknights find out where we are at! From there they will find out all our names and we will be next! Fiosa says with a look of fear on her face.’You know that they always get the confession they want whether they use magic or torture! And it doesn’t matter either, a person put in that position will admit to whatever the Hellknights want to hear whether they committed the crime or not, just to be released from whatever torture they are under! ’

’Now hold on Fiosa, that’s not gonna happen, we won’t let it.’ Janiven says, ’Amaya, did you say that the Hellknights have yet to move Arael?’

’Yes, that is true. He is currently being held in the city jail.’ Amaya says with a questioning look.

’There are too many people around if we try to rescue him here and we don’t want any innocents getting hurt. But, to get to Citadel Rivad they will have to leave the city. That is where we will have to take a shot at getting Arael out of Hellknight custody. There won’t be any witnesses to see us attack the Hellknights, since the road only leads back and forth to Citadel Rivad so we should be okay there. Plus there will be far fewer guards on the road then there will be either at the city jail or at the citadel itself. ’

’Plus..’ says Scalvo, ’We won’t be technically breaking any city laws by rescuing him outside the city walls!’

’Not to mention that most of the people here in Westcrown don’t care for the Hellknights and they won’t think anything about a them losing a prisoner on the way to the citadel.’ pipes up Ermolos.

’Even better is the fact that since Arael is in Hellknight custody, the city will no longer be interested in his ‘supposed’ crimes, and if he escapes, the city won’t be bound to turn him back over to the Hellknights unless of course enough government officials want to do the Order of the Rack a favor, and I highly doubt that will happen. Janiven says.

’I think I may have an idea.’ Janiven paces back and forth.

’Now, we know that we don’t have the man power at this stage to go toe to toe with Citadel Rivad. But, we do know that the road leading to the citadel is rarely used by anyone other than the Hellknights or those providing services for them. And, on a typical day, only three or four groups travel this road going either direction. Since traffic is so low and close to the citadel, banditry is unheard of. Because of this, Citadel Rivad certainly won’t expect to be attacked in this area. Along this road is where I think our best chance of rescuing Arael is.’

‘My uncle heard that the Hellknights who captured Arael are armigers and they will be the ones who will be escorting him to Citadel Rivad.’ Gorvio says.

’I believe that the ‘Guardians of Justice’ should receive payment from the Order of the Rack in thanks for providing such a convenient opportunity, don’t you?’ Janiven says bitterly.

’And…’, Gorvio continues, ’word on the street is that the other armigers’ failure to catch any of the other supposed ‘rebels’ has resulted in quite a bit of shame and mockery, and much of this group’s remaining pride rests solely on Arael’s imminent imprisonment in Citadel Rivad.’

’They also say that Arael’s trip to the citadel will be escorted by 15 Hellknight armigers, led by their sponsor, a Hellknight Signifier named Shanwen.’, Larko says.

’Well, I don’t think we can handle quiet that may Hellknights, even if they are armigers, in a fight one on one. Not to mention, if we can help it, we need to avoid any Hellknight fatalities at all costs. The more armigers who live, the less brutal the ‘Guardians of Justice’ look and the more humiliation and shame we can inflict on the Order of the Rack. So what we need to do is even the odds a little. Now, we know that they will have some sort of armored wagon to hold Arael and more than likely a few armigers on hoseback. Here’s what I propose, while Drolgun, Koloran, Lythar, James, John and William make the primary attack on the armored wagon transporting Arael and mount a rescue; I’ll lead several of the remaining ‘Guardians of Justice’ in a feint ambush against the other Hellknights. Given that there are no bandit attacks on this road, the Hellknights are sure to interpret any attack as an attempt to rescue the prisoner, and the likely response to sighting a group of what appear to be bandits stepping into the road ahead will be to split their forces, sending the mounted troops forward to handle the supposed highway men while the prisoner and his guards hang back and perhaps begin to turn around to make a retreat back to Westcrown so they don’t lose their prize. This should give Drolgun’s group fewer opponents to fight making it much easier to free Arael. For the mounted Hellknights that we distract, we will prepare the road ahead with caltrops; this should force the new recruits out of their saddle, the hard way, and give Drolgun’s group a little more time. There are a few places that could make for ideal ambush locations.’

Janvien quickly sketches out a map of the road to the citadel, pointing out a small stone bridge that crosses the swift but relatively narrow stream called the Athula. Here

She also indicates a few locations before and after the bridge where there’s much more tree cover to allow a hit-and-run attack and to complicate pursuit via horseback. Here

Janiven looks to the group, 'What are your thoughts?'

Pretty good artist isn’t she!!

"Well uhh... I totally caught all that and to me I'd rather go to the river, and I think someone should create a distraction that would be our best bet they could lead all the other hellknights to them such as they where injured, require assistance, etc. or to where they are leading them such as they found a group of injured people that need help or they found a wagon flipped over onto a person, etc. I could then peak out of the bushes liberate the prisoner and get away and they wouldn't know something was happened until they got back and checked on him or till they got back to Westcrown" James says while looking at the maps and then taking a swig of healing potion.

"Before I get too far... Drolgun do you need new armor. Not saying that yours is junk or anything. This just has more um...Plate." John says as he holds up the half plate to the dwarf. "I think it will fit... maybe. The beard might be a hard squeeze into the helmet. Ha, I made a funny right buddy." John says hitting Koloran in the ribs with his elbow.

"Wait what is a signifer? It isn't something that can remove my face...more than once right?" John says as he looks right at Larko with a completely dead serious look on his face.

"I think we should use the attack on the bridge. That could definately help us on our fight...Wait where is Yoki?" John says not realizing that he is dead.

'The bridge will serve as a choke point for sure, but we must be careful not to get our group stuck on opposite sides of the river if the fight goes against us. On the other hand if we have access to boats it might make a faster get away to use the river.'

No thanks lad. I'd rather not have anything associated with the monster he worshiped protecting my skin. Sell it and put the profits to use for the Guardians.

Drolgun puts down his mug and examines the maps before offering his opinion. [b]'While the tree cover could help, I agree that the choke point of the bridge may be our best chance. Do we have anything that we could use to block the road once the rest of the knights ride off that wouldn't tip off the rest of the guard, like a wagon with a broken wheel? If we could get the wagon holding Arael on the bridge it may prevent them from turning the wagon and running.

I'm guessing the door is in the back of the wagon, so we could wait for the wagon to be stopped, then approach from the back. If James can get Arael out quickly enough we may only need to fight a few of the Rack and then be off before the others can react.

Koloran, the boats are an excellent idea. Do we beach them below the bridge or further downstream? If they're below the bridge any knights still standing could attack with arrows and bolts while we float. If they're downstream we will need to run to them, but any knights following us may not have bows or crossbows.

Where's my mug?

After listening to everything that Janiven and looking over the maps. Actually I think that we could hide men underneath the bridge. Two maybe three while the other stopped the caravan. At that point those hidden under the bridge can sneak up and get the prisoner and retreat back under the bridge. If we swim with the current we can be out of harms way quickly. YOu will one person to pick the lock and at least one other to cover him while he works.

William replies to the half-elf "Ahh.. I'm sure your father was an adventurer as well?

Listening to the conversation at hand, William puts his two cents in, "The bridge is a spendid idea. It has numerous advantages with few disadvantages if it goes well against our favor. Though I like the idea of boats, I may find it had for us to escape to travel upstream, especially if they are prepared. I am sure they are expecting us and will bring every resource with them to counter-attack any offence. I believe riding on horse back would be best."

No He wasn't. He just had the spirit of one. Said almost like a term of affection like that between a father and son.

You may be right William. If we rode on horseback we can disappear into the forest. And there is where we will have a real advantage. The forest is home turf for me and it has plenty of shadows for James to take advantage of. It will have quite a bit of cover.

While I would prefer not to deal with horses, I usually fall off them instead of staying on. I'll follow the plan on this.

If we're not supposed to kill the knights, what weapons shall we use. My axe is not usually used to keep my foes alive.

"The axe is acceptable, but do not swing to kill. What I am saying is aim for the legs, not the chest. You may cripple the opponet but the knight can still live on. Now, if you have any of these available, I would suggest blunt weapons. They may cause trauma, but they will not cause serious bleeding."

A broken bone even a small one can be deadly if the marrow enters the blood. A thought suddenly coming to him. Looks to Janiven. Is there anyway that we could get a hold of a few sleep spells?

'Janiven...Have your sources mentioned how much time we may have before they will move Arael? It will be tough if we have to grab what we can and run out there. Also we need to consider that if we all head out of town armed for battle at the same time we will rouse far too much suspicion, but with even just a day's preparation we can grab more supplies and I can pray to Iomedae for spells that will better aid this fight and our escape. Overhearing Koloran's comment he looks to him. Do any of the spells that you are able to divine include sleeping spells? If we ust those on the guards we may be able to avoid fighting all together. Or some kind of sleeping gas.

'A signifier is one of the lower level of Hellknights, but by far more deadly than the armigers. They have already past their initiation and have had more formal training in the ways of the Order of the Rack.'Janiven pauses and lowers her head, ’I’m afraid Yoki did not make it…the otyugh is beast to be feared in the sewers, that is for sure.’.

'I fear the move is to take place this afternoon. The Hellknights of the Rack are not known for their patience when it comes to matters such as this.' Amaya says.

'Yes, and if leave all at the same time that will surely draw suspicion. As far as getting out without being noticed, we may have to head out in smaller groups so that we don't draw too much attention. If we use the horses at Jacovo's stables I’m sure he may have some ideas.' Janiven says.

Male Half-Elf Ranger 2

It would be best to leave in pairs. When we head out we all need to take different routes out of town but with someone else. It will draw less suspision and keep our backs covered.

Male Chelaxian Bard 2

Is there a place to sell this junk. John says to Janiven while trying to keep the armor in his grasp. "I can't hold this all day."

Male Tiefling Rogue/2

I need a sap first. So are we ready to leave, I wanted to go to the blacksmith first for the sap and John needs to sell the plate.James says motioning on out the door. "Are we ready or... oh and remember we should use a distraction or lead all or part of the knights away from the wagon it would be a whole lot easier to free Areal oh and remember we have to approuch the wagon from the side cause it has side doors only."

Drolgun gives a hearty laugh. "I like the idea of putting them all to sleep. Think of the embarrassment it would be to lose not only their only prisoner, but also be found asleep or tied up with no idea what happened. It would be even better if we could take all of their horses as well as the wagon.

We would have to leave them elsewhere but I imagine it's quite the scene when they're found.

I would like to be able to get a sap before we do this. I don't want to hurt my axe by not using the blade.
