Scout class

does anyone feel the scout class from the complete adventurer 3.5 book need any changes or alterations, im looking at the class and was wandering is it on par with the pathfinder classes.

Dark Archive

You just try to search in there... it's been tackled a few times

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

It probably just needs its list of bonus feats updated a bit, and its skills Pathfinderized. Otherwise, it's a pretty tight class.

Yea the feats need to be re-evaluated. Exchanging many shot for the vital strike tree in it's bonus feats would be be a good idea. Many shot no longer works for the scount and vital strike does. It has a fair amount of dead levels though. I know there have been some reworks/conversion here on the boards if you search a bit.

Edit:

I dont have it in front of me, but maybe it didnt have dead levels? I cant remember now. Can someone confirm? My book is back home on the shelf. I definately think it would be a good idea to add vital strike in the bonus feat list and remove many shot. Wind stance/lighting might also be a good bonus feat to add. Cirtainly any scout would be wise to take them.

nope, no dead levels for the scout

Although you are asking about the actual Scout class, I'd also suggest that you might want to take a look at the Spell-less Ranger from Kobold Quarterly issue 11

In addition to replacing spells, one of my goals was to try and roll in much of I felt made the Scout a cool class. If you are a fan of the Scout class, I think you will like the Spell-less Ranger. And, as an added bonus, it is a Pathfinder base class, so you do not need to do any extra work! :)

I certainly like the spell-less ranger from that issue, one of my players is using it in a current game. But if i remember correctly you didnt add any new combat styles. And without one based around mobility instead of full attacks, I dont see how this can fit what made the scout class fun to play.

The Exchange

"Adventuring Classes: A Fistful of Denarii" (PF compatible) has a version of the scout.

I have seen it played as is. I don't see any need for a conversion.
