Spell Storing Weapons and Scorching Ray

Rules Questions

Does anybody know for certain how this would work if you have multiple rays?

My gut says that the target struck by the weapon is automatically hit by all the rays if there are more than one.

Thoughts?

Spells stored in a spell storing weapon need to have a Target line in their spell description.

Ray spells like Scorching Ray don't have said Target line, rather they create an effect. Thus Scorching Ray isn't a legal spell to put in said spell storing weapon.

I'd suggest perhaps Shocking Grasp or Poison if you know a druid who owes you a favor. Bestow Curse is also good, if you know a cleric able to cast it.

Or Vampiric Touch, or Cause Serious Wounds....

I'm a definite fan of Vampiric Touch in a spellstore dagger - boost your HPs while jacking theirs? TWO-FER! The only disadvantage is that it doesn't automatically cut through SR.

Well crap, I totally missed that. Thanks.

Plenty of other good spells for it - don't worry! :)

If you've got to have fire.... you could put in Burning Disarm from the Cheliax Pathfinder Companion. Can't think of any other target fire's... oh, Heat Metal.

Empowered shocking grasp, FTW! Vampiric touch is mighty fine, too. My guy is scared of actual melee, so it helps to have a little something to get it over with quickly. :)

Ghoul Touch is fun, as is touch of idiocy.

I put creeping cold into a colleague's spell-storing blade in a 3.5 game, he was a fighter sorcerer, so he did the shocking grasp himself ... fair play, he had an awesome first strike damage.

If you guys still use 3.5 material, look up Shivering Touch in Frostburn (I think thats the book... lol).

1 hit = good-bye dragon ;)

Yeah, ghoul touch is one of my favorites. It paralyzes the target and affects all those within the immediate area with the stench.

And yes, touch of idiocy is also good. Particularly for spellcasters (obviously). So here's an idea: give a monk an amulet of mighty fists with spell storing and put the touch of idiocy in it. Then tell him to go whack on the enemy spellcaster!

"Combust" is a tasty option as well, from the Spell Compendium, a 2nd Level Wizard/Sorceror spell that requires a touch attack but it allows no save (but SR applies).
It can only affect a character who is equal to or less than 25 lbs x caster level in weight, but it deals 1d8 damage per level (up to 10d8) to the target and causes it to ignite immediately if it can do so.
Pretty wicked for a spell-storing weapon.
