With the new AP on the horizon, I thought I'd once again try to find a group, preferably one playing in or around Dartmouth or Halifax, NS (I saw two gamers' messageboard profiles: MistahJ and Lord Raptor, but you can't PM here, so...), or one playing online (preferably real-time, but play-by-post is better than nothing). I've been playing for years, but amkind of isolated due to moving all the time for my job (I'm in the Navy).
So, if you've got an open slot (for either a GM or a player), please, let me know.
Thanks

I just started dming my first pbp, and i looked at other pbp for examples to follow. I also have found maptools is a really cool way to enhance play also images can be uploaded to photobucket(dot)com for free. If you have any specific questions I would be happy to give you any help I can with my limited experience.

Yes, I run 3 pbp games and I use a program called TTOPRPG to make maps, much like maptools. Then printscreen and load into MS paint cut and load into flickr for maps
everyone runes PBP different but taking a look at a few and how they run combats help. PBP are slow but rewarding I find. They also go though periods of many posts and slow post stages. This is common to all pbp I have seen.

Hi, Im playing in the game Drogar is running, I'd be happy to hop in this game too as a player, if you are looking for another player. I think it'd be neat to build up a group concept as well as character concepts, maybe a group from the same vllage, escaped prisoners from the same orc camp. I don't know, it just strikes me as fun to come with a back story from day one.

Well, if no one in the real world wants to play, I'm up for a PBP. I'll even run it. But, does anyone have a link to advice on how? I've never played a PBP game before (though I have done some in-game posting in conjunction with a real-world game).
Any ideas?
Lots of good advice on PbP DMing here.
And some more in this thread.
It's no harder than DMing over a table, but you have to adjust your pacing a little and type a lot.

Perhaps the measured pace of a PbP campaign would make it easier for you. You have time to consider each post...there won't be any rushing. Action reads like an action novel.
It has to be easier I think. Perhaps the main challenge is controlling the pace...as participants all follow their own clock.,,and it is tough to speed up the action.
One idea for consideration. When a critical encounter approaches and you wish to control the pace more..communicate with the players and settle on ad hoc time ranges when everyone will be online at the same time...or perhaps set up encounters for those times.
I would love to run a campaign...but I have no DM experience at all...and only just started playing in a PbP campaign. It has been a blast, though.
If you do decide to run a Kingmaker...I'm up for it. I'm only a timezone away. As for the typing....I find its the players who do most of the typing!

I was looking for an online chat game, rather than a PbP. But thanks anyway. My search continues. Good luck with your game!
For some reason, the Pathfinder community seems to be very anti-chat-based games. Personally, I prefer them, but you do need to schedule a "game night" which can be difficult in different time zones.

Hi fellow Haligonians,
I am running D&D Encounters Season 3: Keep on the Borderlands in Halifax, at Quantum Frontier (on Robie) every Wednesday night from 6:30 to 8:30. The season starts September 22 and runs into February - no 4E experience required. It is designed to be a casual drop-in game for people who are new to 4E or don't have a regular group to game with. You can find out more by searching for D&D Encounters in Halifax on the D&D Website. You are more than welcome to contact me through the search/link there (as I won't be checking here that often).
Cheers,
Shoe
