Asmodean Knot

Council of Thieves

I'm just starting to read through the knot section, and it seems that even for a party of 5-6 characters, it's going to be quite difficult.
Do any of you who have already run it have any suggestions, or am I missing something?

You can read my thread on how dramatically overpowered I find the second knot encounter.

I've also noted the following:

Spoiler:

I didn't have too much of a problem with the howlers and a group of 4. They took damage, but not so much that it was overpowering.

Expect to watch multiple PCs die and turn into shadows if they try to fight. Running is an option, but difficult since the Shadows can move into the next area (fleeing backwards is an option).

In my opinion turning the shadows into "Lesser Shadows" (apply the simple young template) is a good start. The spawn rate is also really rather high (24 seconds) and with two at a time you're going to watch the party become overwhelmed quickly. Increasing the time to 30 seconds (5 rounds) helps a little. Also make only one mirror and have it breakable without having a 10 hardness (it's a mirror for Gods sake, make it 10 HP/0 Hardness and let the players just smash it).

The Bearded Devil is very appropriately balanced and shouldn't be too much of a problem.

The undead room with the ghouls is tough, only because ghouls with their paralyzing attack are quite tough. With six it shouldn't be too bad though and I think they should be fine.

We haven't gotten much further, but honestly the shadows fight is the only one I'd really be worried about.

Large water elemental is awesome (and by awesome I mean a destroyer of people)

The final encounter can be annoying if you include the lemures. I'm not sure if I like them in there; they just kind of take up space. Nonetheless, it may be difficult if your party doesn't have healing. The bleed from his attacks is murderous.
