Gregori produces a flask of alchemists fire and lobs it at the ooze.
Touch attack1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat
With a fizz and a gurgle and a pretty unpleasant smell, the ooze expires.
...netting you 171 xp each.
There is nothing else of interest in the room. As you press on into the passage to the left, you notice a strange flickering yellow light coming from the an opening to the left ahead, accompanied by an odd groaning, which is punctuated periodically by a mighty bellow and the sound of heavy logs crashing onto stone.
Do you still want to proceed?
Female Halfling Sorcerer (celestial)
Oh, yes, of course!
Wide-eyed, Roylenna whispers, "What do you think it is?"
32/42 HP
Lyria looks concerned. "Maybe it's someone or something who is trying to break a passage or a door here". She shrugs and adds: "And maybe it isn't. Either way we should look into it".
Female Human Barbarian 7
Stopping her inspection of her spear tip to make sure it survived the encounter with the gray ooze, "Not sure but it sounds big." She doesn't even break her stride as she advances to sate her curiosity.
Female Halfling Bard 1
"Hopefully something huge." Tika happily adds increasing her pace to keep up.
M Aasimar Paladin (Warrior of the Holy Light ) 5
Gregori chuckles.
"Now these are what I call women," He says with a grin at Artival and Mahaffy
Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat
As you turn the corner and peer into the room, you are met by a strange and horrible sight. A huge burning tree is stomping around the large cave, muttering to itself in a strange mixture of Treant, Ignan and Common.
Linguistics 15:
As it sees you, it charges. Roll for initiative. Battle map coming up.

Here is your map
It turns out that the angry burning tree goes on 0, so you all get to act.
Roylenna: I think you'll need to put out the fire before you can get the tree to even listen to you.

Since I go last I am waiting to see what the rest of you do before declaring.

Mahaffy will wait to see if burning trees and ogres are the same subtype

No, I didn't notice that. I used this link and it says "creatures", so I thought it would be ok.

LOL So maybe we can lead it back to the wet cave? How far is it to that cave?
Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat
It's not that far, but I don't think there is enough water to quench an entire burning tree unless you can convince it to lie down and roll about.
Lyria: Nothing wrong with the spell. Just that plants are immune to mind-affecting magic.

I certainly don't want to burn the tree down, if there is any way to prevent it. Any other ideas?

Well, I guess Lyria wouldn't know that, so she just wasted her spell.
Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat
I can't access my map where I am at currently and won't be home for quite some time, so I'll just update as far as I am able.
As Lyria's magic seems to have no effect on the raging treant and the rest of you hesitate, the tree charges and flails at Ka'kara with a burning limb. It hits for 15 points of damage (Reflex 21 or catch on fire).
Your turn again.
Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat
OK, map updated.
Now would you please do something about the angry tree?
Female Halfling Bard 1

love the hidden message in the map "Krag mutily" . Just hope the tree is not Krag
Female Halfling Sorcerer (celestial)
"I don't know why we need to kill the tree. It's in pain, it doesn't know what it's doing! But we can't let it burn my sister, either..."
Roylenna casts Resist Energy (fire) and transfers the protection to the barbarian woman. Fire resistance 10 for 50 minutes.
Having cast the spell, the tiny woman will retreat so the others can move forward with their weapons if they choose. to R10, please.

Yelm advances and strikes the tree a solid blow, getting swatted for his troubles. Artival's ray strikes the tree but it seems that despite being on fire the tree doesn't know how to burn.
It brings its full rage to bear on Ka'kara, hitting for 29 points of damage. You are up.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat
No fire damage, just plain old violence. And yes, they do stack.
Artival's magic missiles do hit and Ka'kara is healed somewhat by the combined efforts of Tika and Lyria.
Ka'kara, Yelm and Mahaffy to go, then the tree.
Mahaffy will move to J15 and then strikes the tree

Mahaffy fails to penetrate the thick bark and so does Yelm. Ka'kara delays. The tree is annoyed that Ka'kara won't burn and focuses its wrath on Yelm, hitting him for 36 points of damage, knocking him out.
You are up.
