Tika looks up from the extra notes (and really badly drawn stick Ogre) "Wait little smelly meanie with a big axe? You don't suppose that could be the other adventuring group do you?"
You enter a large cave, full of red splashes where the ogre caught a rat. A huge pile of rotten plant matter and flotsam has washed up in a sandy corner of this room. That's also where the rats had hollowed out their nest.
There are two exits, roughly left and right, both about 10 feet wide. The one to the left seems to end in a T intersection after about 15 feet, basically leaving you with three choices.
Looking warily at the plant mass, "You don't think it's another hungry plant thing, do you."

"Oh, I hope not. But if you want to poke it with your spear while the rest of us are ready to respond, that might not be a bad idea."
She strides over and pokes it with her long-spear.
"Ka'kara! I said when we were ready!" Roylenna moves to have a clear shot at the plant mass, should the need arise.
The garbage pile seems to be just that. Ka'kara uncovers a pouch containing 4 pp, 11 gp, 54 sp and a mummified human hand with a dragon tattoo, as well as a whiff of bad smell.
Ka'kara squats down on her haunches and examines the tattoo up close, "Nice ink. Anyone know if anyone of the people we are looking for had any art done?"
"I think it would have to be pretty old to have dried like that, don't you, Lyria? I think it's been down here too long to be our missing adventurers. Might be someone else we've heard of, though."
to try and identify the tattoo.
The tattoo is Viridian, nonmagical and probably fairly ancient.

Lyria examines the mummified hand, and especially its end (whether it was ripped, or cut off from a mummy, or mummified and sewed as a seperate hand).
"It seems strange for this hand to be left here for so long. It's not magical, but it does seem special for someone or something. Maybe it's a token, idol or something similar. In any case, I guess we should hold on to it and inquire about it up on the surface".
"Lets take the doorway on the right", Lyria suggests.

The tattoo belongs to an ancient Viridian order of monks, named the Order of the Hungry Ghost. Probably it was stolen by the rats from one of the tombs. It shows that at least one Viridian took part in the great battle.
As you proceed to the right, I'll need perception checks. And while you're at it, roll for initiative.

There is an alcove to your right as you proceed down the corridor. You have just time to notice something written on the wall when a number of wiry roots disengage from the roof and attack you. Roylenna and Mahaffy are picked up bodily and squeezed, Roylenna taking 11 points of damage and Mahaffy 13. A third tentacle tries to squirm around Ka'kara, but the barbarian brushes it off.
Roylenna, Mahaffy and Artival are up, then the plant monsters.
Since the monsters are clinging to the roof, I made them green. They have 10 feet reach but the two foremost are grappling.

In spite of Artival's magical bombardment the plants continue to squeeze the life out of Mahaffy and Roylenna, . The last strand still can't seem to find any purchase.
Then Ka'kara comes to the rescue and stabs the middle plant. It goes limp and drops Roylenna.

Roylenna will remain on the ground, hopefully that much harder to reach, but roll onto her back and cast a spell, sending a brilliant beam into the plant that had nearly ended her.

Lyria mutters her prayer as she raises her holy symbol, causing a wave of healing energy to pass over everyone, healing them in the process.
Artival blasts the roots holding Mahaffy, while Gregory chops away at them. Roylenna's spell fizzles. Lyria's healing sends a warm wave through all of you.
The plant monster squeezes Mahaffy for another 14 points, while the other plant finally manages to get a grip on Ka'kara, crushing her for 10 points of damage.

Ka'kara gives an angry yank on the offending vine as she tears herself free and almost pulls the plant loose from the ceiling.
Mahaffy will groan seeing Ka'Kara being grappled.
Well , at least he'll die fighting not because of a stupid trap
Gregori swings again, his aim true though the writhing vines manage to avoid most of the damage.
Lyria moves forward while muttering another prayer. She reaches Mahaffy and presses her holy symbol to his body, trying to heal him through divine intervention.
Brow furrowed in frustration, Roylenna will try again, this time sending a sickly green beam into the roots of Mahaffy's opponent, trying to weaken it.
