Okay, so the Kaledun games died. I tend to think that the main reason why that happened is that they were set in homebrew campaign world/setting and it was difficult for players to get the feel of their surroundings, and difficult for me to translate all the notes to English. Now, I am finally doing something about that, but it will be some time yet before my setting is complete enough to publish it on the internet. After all, it is a hobby.
So, I've decided to start another game - mainly for the players of the two now defunct games. Those guys will have advantage in the recruitment process. I intend to create the game for 8-10 characters, like my Midnight game, so I think that there will be enough room for everyone who is interested in playing. If there happens to be free slots, I'm gonna call for additional players.
Now, I currently don't really know what will this new game be. I think I'd like to try some kind of postapocalyptic/sci-fi/horror setting. Alpha Omega game from Mindstorm Labs looks interesting, but there are some other choices as well. Perhaps some d20 combination, but we shall see.
So, let the recruitment begin. When have enough players, I'll put to a vote what will our new game be.

Nightflier, have you seen the Gamma world PF conversion here on the boards?
Gamma World is one possibility.

That's four players so far. I already have my own homebrew science fantasy game world, that is something like Fallout meets World of Darkness, but the Kaledun game kinda died because the players knew very little about the world, so they couldn't give their imagination free rein. At least I think that is the reason why those two games died. Therefore, I am looking for a game world that all the players can get familiar with. I'm open to recommendations. I'm considering
1) Eberron - it's not SF, but it is very steampunk-like. The books are easily available and easily ported to Pathfinder, which is game system of choice for most of us.
2) Alpha Omega - very interesting concept, but I have only rule book. The system is not familiar to me and I would have to learn it from a scratch.
3) Monte Cook's World of Darkness - very interesting and easily combined with d20 Future/Apocalypse.
4) Dark Heresy/Rogue Trader - Another system that I don't know, but I have all the books and I am familiar with WH40k history.
5) DragonStar - basically DnD in space.
Now, I am interested in your opinions and suggestions.

I think it was more of the standard reasons why pbps fail and not any real fault with the setting. Anyway, call me interested in a game in Ebberon, Dark Heresy/Rogue Trader or Dragonstar.

So, for now we have:
Scarlet
Calixymenthillian
Eric
Mark
Davi
That's five players. The reason why I'm going for 8-10 players is because I'm thinking about giving them a common background, depending on setting. Perhaps members of same unit in Eberron's war, or same bunch of clones in some other setting. So, we need at least 3 more players.

Agreed with you there Davi, I enjoyed Khaledrun in both incarnation and hope they come back. I wasn't keen about having our characters fight each other, however. Maybe having to work together for some reason would be a challenge...
Eberron is a cool setting, so I would be ok with that. Also WoD is interesting, esp Monte Cook take, so I would be ok with that as well.

Yeah, the fight between games probably wasn't going to end well, especially since I was both one of the best melee combatants in both parties and also the type to beat a guy to death because he dared to try to stab me.
Anyway, I doubt having eight people in one game is going to end well. That's just more people than most games are designed to handle well at once.

Well, if the consensus is that the group should be smaller, than I suppose that five players are enough. Okay, then. Cast your votes and make your suggestions. In what world shall we play?

No mention of me? D: Maybe I should get an avatar for this alias just so people will notice my incredibly short posts. Haha.

Sorry. Truly, I am sorry. You are in the game, of course. So, there are six of us (and get an avatar :) )

Yeah make it a good one, Gamender, he he.

As much as I itch to try out Dark Heresy and all the 40k goodness it brings, Eberron is more familiar. Ah well, still having fun reading it. Being an Adeptus Sororitas would have been lovely.
Eberron gets my vote.
PS. I'll find me an avatar...maybe later. I'll just ramble on until my post is noticably large. For now.

While I will fully admit to never having played anything of Eberron, something about the setting gets my hackles up and set my teeth on edge. So, even though I can suggest nothing else, I would vote against Eberron.
Might I suggest Iron Kingdoms? How about an amalgam of the pair?
A constructive suggestion after all my negativity. :)
Though, should the majority call for one thing, who am I to stand in the way of progress? ;)
Much cheers

Well, the game will be Eberron by majority vote, but we can think of something to make it more to your liking.

Davi and Eric brought this to my attention yesterday as I've been on the fence wanting to play my first PbP, but I was particular as to where/what I wanted to play.
I am very familiar with Eberron and have ALL the hard covers -- it's been one of the campaign settings I've been playing in RL for the past five years and just having finished up a hobgoblin Dhaakan civil war campaign where I played a warmage.
I would gladly go along with an Eberron campaign with the steampunk amped up a little bit. I wouldn't mind seeing Dragonstar/Dark Heresy flavor throw into it too. The concept that would be cool to play would be an equivalent of Golarion's Hellknight Order being ordered on a mandate to purge heretics and acquire artifacts and relics and an adventure into the Mournlands and/or Xendrix.
Hope we start out from scratch at 1st level. Any more room? :)
EDIT: +1 on an Iron Kingdoms blend into Eberron, too.
