Ale of Life?

Rules Questions

One of my players wants to take his cure light wounds potions (about a dozen or so) and pour them into a large jug (jokingly referred to thereafter as the "ale of life") so that he can drink (or grant) his potions to people without having to waste actions drawing out each new vile.

Is there any reason for me to disallow this? Is it against the rules somewhere?

If I do allow it, I'm nevertheless going to restrict him to applying one dose at a time.

Also, what happens if he throws multiple different potions into the jug? How shall I explain to him (conceptually) that he can't just chug all his potions at once? I don't think he will try that (he's not one to strain the rules), but I want to have a ready answer just in case.

I've seen some variant rules, I can't remember where. It went something like this:

You may fill a container with as many doses of the same potion as it will hold. However, it still takes an action to drink one dose. It can't all be chugged at once.

There used to be nifty potion miscibility rules back in 1e and 2e. WotC dropped them when they took over for TSR. You might draw up an old AD&D DMG if you want those rules.

The potion miscibility rules got updated for 3.5 as an April Fool's joke here one year.
