Two-bladed Sword and Finesse

Rules Questions

Is anyone able to shed light on why Weapon Finesse isn't an option for the Two-bladed Sword?

Would it be over-powered? I can't think of a weapon that deserves it more, including daggers and rapiers.

I want it to be applicable to scimitars too!

What is the basis for claiming the 2 Bladed Sword is more Finesse-able than a dagger (Light Weapon) or rapier (Finesse Weapon) when NO other double weapons are Finesse-able? Further, the 2 Bladed Sword is basically two Longswords connected by the same shaft/hilt, and Longswords singly are not Finesse-able (the 2 Bladed Sword is HEAVIER than 2 Longswords by +25%). I just don't see any justification for this, double-weapons generally are not Finesse Weapons, and the base weapon component of 2 Bladed Swords are not Finessable either.

EDIT: The only justification I could imagine you using would be that you imagine it requires some dexterity to use a 2 bladed sword correctly. And this is correct, The 2WF Feat Chain itself has significant DEX requirements to take all the way. But that doesn't make every double weapon a finesse weapon just because it would be convenient from a min-max'ing PC perspective to focus on one stat. If this means that splitting stats, you don't quite have the DEX to take Greater 2WF, or if you have the DEX to get the extra attacks, your STR (and to-hit/dmg) is pretty low, so be it - otherwise, what 2WF character WOULDN'T /always/ use a double weapon?

I don't remember its name, but there is a feat to make a weapon useable with Weapon Finesse.

Do you remember it's source?

If you want to do this for the imagery, I suggest statting up a Double SHORT Sword, using the same stats as a Short Sword for both ends. You could still get 150% STR Bonus-> DMG when making Standard Attacks/Cleaves/not using both ends. There would be no problem classing such a weapon as a Finesse Weapon. I would follow the same precedent as Double Bladed [Long]Sword and make it weigh 125% as much as 2 Short Swords.

Why do the obvious and simple options have to be so hard to think of? Thanks, I'll bring that up with my DM and hope it works.

I'm playing a Shadow Assassin Tengu, and having him pull out the double-sword is just too cool to pass up.

Glad to be of assistance! :-)

What is up with Tengu? Are those those bird people? [should know this]

Also, I believe an AP includes a two-bladed shortsword, weapon finessable... ah here's the note for it:

Note much of a spoiler but...:

Spoiler:
From PF #16: *A double shortsword is a weapon from Plot & Poison. The weapon is an exotic two-handed weapon. A proficient user can attack with it as a double weapon, and may use Weapon Finesse with the weapon even though it’s not a light weapon.

Tengu?

Kinda random but yeah those're bird people. Good with swords too.

I suggested the double shortsword to my DM, and he countered with an Eberron exotic weapon; Scimitar, Valenar Double. Two-bladed sword with Scimitar stats and finessable.

Success!
