Ok, so I've got ADD (no, not Advanced Dungeons and Dragons -- I've got that too -- but Attention Deficit Disorder) and it makes it difficult to ... I'm sorry, what were you saying? ... yeah, concentrate. The best real description for ADD that I've heard is that all stimulus has a value and most people's brains can assign an appropriate value to whatever is around them. Think of a restaurant -- the couple talking behind you, to the side of you, in front of you, the door opening, the music over the loudspeakers, the wait staff carrying the tray, the banging dishes in the back getting cleaned, etc. all has the same value to someone with ADD. After 40 years of it, I've pretty well been able to control it. When there is a little too much stimulus, I can usually focus -- with effort -- and block other stimulus to help me concentrate. But it generally helps if I know where the additional stimulus is coming from.
I've been having a great deal of difficulty concentrating at work. It's because we have "Pink Noise" here at work to try and make it a little more difficult to eavesdrop on other cubicles.
Now that I know what's been wrong, I'm going to push to get rid of it. Not only is it not doing what it's supposed to, but if I have to endure much more of this, I'm going to go insane.
I don't like feeling like I'm permanently in a fog.
Huh, I would never have thought that considering the detailed posts you do in the Religion thread. I would love to participate but have neither the time nor energy.

Gonna go watch some tv now. And try to hold out until I'm allowed to take my rescue inhaler again. Looks like I'll be sleeping on the chaise tonight so I can stay sitting up so I don't stop breathing in the night. Also looks like I'm gonna have to talk to my doctor about my maintenance meds for the asthma. :(

I know how you feel as I'm a severe asthmatic as well. Are you on anything besides the rescue inhaler? It sounds like you need to be on a LABA and a cortical steroid.

Just Flovent. At the very least I need to up the dosage and/or frequency. Basically every time I go in with problems I get a short course of oral steroids and told to use the albuterol every four hours until it gets better. Oh for a competent physician. :/
The last treatment did help and it's time for my Flovent as well, so I think I may be able to get some sleep now at least. I hope so anyways. Thanks for the well wishes guys.| Eric Swanson |

can't breathe through my nose. and this is with taking benadryl last night. and I'm wheezing. yuck. this is the part of spring I really really hate. :(
Sorry to hear that Lynora.
I can't take anything when I need an antihistimine. Most of them knock me out, and I still feel groggy when I wake up.

Sorry to hear that, Moff. I hope the powers that be have some sympathy for your situation.
I do know that at my new desk, I have a horrible time concentrating. There's a lot of activity in the row next to me, where before I used to work in relative quiet.

Oooh, the little black dots are dancing in pretty patterns....
Had to take the rescue inhaler. Oxygen is nice. And it's nice that the little black spots on my vision are finally starting to fade. Have I mentioned that I hate spring?
And in other drama, the next door neighbors got visited by the police. Again. The leaseholder is in jail. They arrested him in the middle of the night the week after we moved in. Which I know cause the cops buzzed our apartment so they could get into the building to arrest the guy. Apparently a couple of this guys buddies were squatting at his place and smoking a LOT of weed. The landing has smelled like bad incense for a couple weeks now. The poor building manager looked so embarrassed about the whole thing. Needless to say he kicked them out.
Wow. You're having all sorts of fun. :S

I hope the rest of your night was uneventful. Is checking with the doctor on this something you can do on Saturday or do you have to wait til Monday?
FOOLED YA!
At least I think I might have fooled you (the reader) but I don't really know. :P
Don't worry, no politics in this thread from me.
