Mmmmm, Italian Wedding Soup!
Oh, that stuff is so good.
I used to hate it, but it has really grown on me lately. The Campbell's stuff is pretty good, not as good as home made though.
Soup is one of the last things I want to eat currently, as temp here has soared into the triple digits.

The Deli down the street from where I work (Boar's Head Deli = WIN!) stopped serving soups on days that are 90* or higher.

I'm so glad that Deli opened. There was no place on mainstreet where you could go get a drink to take back to work with you. Now I can go get an ice cold coke or some tea.

I still don't mind eating some Chef Boyardi during the heat though. I can't get enough ravioli, whether from a can or toasted.

Boars head is awesome! We used to buy it all the time from the supermarket when my dad was still alive.

We have a little place called Jason's Deli at Scottsdale Road and Shea Blvd. They have a pretty nice selection for omnivores and vegetarians.

No vegetarians down here, but i've never seen an actual deli. They're not common around my parts, unless you go into a grocery store to see the pre-packaged pre-sliced stuff. Nothing beats some stinky provolone freshly sliced on hot roastbeef with au jus.

Silver Crusade

Hmm... Where to begin...

I finally have Internet. It's hard to come by in Italy, it seems, but now I'm set up with 3G wireless. How's everyone doing?

I'm still recovering from jetlag, but otherwise settling in. The arrangements provided by my partner's college have been disorganized, but we're working it out.

A few observations:

1. We have a running joke that you cannot find a shower in Italy that does not flood the bathroom. It seems to me that the people who brought the world indoor plumbing have been resting on their laurels.

2. Working telephones are a myth. Maybe that's because everyone has 2, 3, or 4 cell phones (although it's unlikely any of them are actually activated). (Seriously, when last I heard, Italy was the only country with more cell phones than people, because everyone has multiple with various overly complicated plans.)

3. Espresso is delicious. Every 20 feet there is a cafe that will make a cappuccino that puts Starbucks to shame, all for under a dollar.

4. Gelato is also delicious. I'd worry about getting really fat if I wasn't walking a good 5 miles a day.

5. I'm making a mental note not to do any more layovers in Frankfurt. For some reason they figured the entire airport only needs 6 or 7 toilets. Not pretty. (Okay, there were clearly more toilets than that, but the lines were ridiculous.)

6. Congrats to me on breaking my umbrella the first day here. What a piece of crap.

7. Did I mention the espresso and gelato?

8. I alternate between surprising myself by how much Italian I know and disappointing myself with how little.

Anyway, we are staying with a friend of a friend (sort of) until the 1st when supposedly there will be a room ready for us. My bed only has 3 legs, and trying to balance suitably while sleeping is difficult. I miss my hotel in Rome. But, the people we are staying with have been so friendly and accommodating, I try not to complain.

I hope everyone is doing well. Ciao!

Good to see you, CH! Travel is always "eventful." Isn't that part of its charm? Glad to hear you are both well and having a good time. What is your time differential to here? It's nearly 5 a.m. central (yes, I'm having trouble sleeping).

Silver Crusade

It's 6 hours ahead of Eastern time (7 ahead of you folks in Missoureh).

I'm off for lunch!

Speaking of which, I was on Facebook yesterday evening, and noticed a status by one of the Paizo folk (either Bulmahn or Jacobs, can't remember which) asking "Been out of the office. What'd I miss?".

I almost responded with one of my patented soap opera posts.

Good morning all Fawtl'ers. Finally have a few minutes to post. It has been a blast since my boys came home. I started a Kingmaker campaign for my wife and two youngest boys (19 and 17), last Wednesday and we have played every night since. We probably put in about 20 hours alone over the weekend.

This Friday, I GM our third session of RotR for my Houston Casual Gaming Group.

And finally, with Orthos' PBP campaign, I get to participate in the first PBP I joined that will actually start.

I am in RPG heaven.

Scarab Sages

Glad to see things are going well, Tordek.

Scarab Sages

Yeah, and I'm sure someone will respond. Sadly, that kind of thing seems inevitable.

Dark Archive

We'll just sit back and watch the explosion happen. It will be pretty.

But I'll have to watch from a distance. Boss just got in, so it's time to look busy.

Well I would but the pain is not constant enough to bother. Which is also why I am staying out of the ones I have just in case I really do need them later.

I try to stay away from pain meds, in general. I get really stupid when I'm on them.

I think you should have done your soap opera response too, AZ. By the way, how's the visit going?

CH, it sounds like you're having a good time in spite of the quirks you've been running into. I can't imagine anything being better than Starbucks...oh wait, you're talking about coffee products, not cow manure.

Tordek, I'm glad you had such a fun weekend. I'm very thankful that my son and daughter share in my geeky pursuits. :)

If it's the new thread, I think the author was trying to be humorous. Of course, the potential for it going off the rails is HUGE, so I guess we'll see. :)

Gooooooooooood morning Fawlty Towers!!!!!

Excited today. The weekly game has rebooted with a new day, a new time, and a new DM, as well as a new player. We'll see how it goes!

And that's about it really. Still working on the Paladins and such. Here's hoping today is interesting, but not in the chinese curse sorta way.

Thanks man.

OH! I also spent almost all of last night watching the cheesy 80s versions of Return of the Living Dead 1 and 2. God, the memories. God the references. GOD THE BAD ACTING!!!!!

Also added Alien Nation and Amazing Stories to Netflix. Can't wait for those babies(or at least, time to watch Amazing Stories, preferably with the wife...that show blew my mind as a kid).

RPG Superstar 2012

I barely remember those movies.

I liked Amazing Stories and Alien Nation, even though Alien Nation took the idea of science fiction as a metaphor for society a little too seriously at times.

Hi guys! *hugs*

I'm not usually up in time to catch Freehold or Taig. Good seeing you! I hope the commuting thing is not too much of a pain, Taig, and that your second job continues to be copasetic, FDM.

Not much going on here. My partner (business partner) has been on vacation for two of the last three weeks, so we've been in the store 6/7 days for 9-10 hours each day. I barely know what day it is anymore. She's back today, so life should get easier. We washed the dogs yesterday, so life smells better, at least!

Good morning Treppa!

Yeah, the second job continues to be the shiznit. Good to hear that your business partner's back and that the dogs are clean. Smelly puppy is indeed smelly.

Okay, I have to say, I think it's cool that the kidlet is now borrowing books from me. I had one by my bed that I had been reading, and he saw it there and wanted to know if it was okay for him to read. It was and he promptly curled up on my bed and started reading. I've always loved reading so it makes me happy to see my kid share my enthusiasm for it. :)

Good morning! The commute isn't too bad, especially since I live down here most of the week. I go home once during the week for the evening. If I get a full-time offer, that will have to change, since it won't be economically viable to rent the apartment.

Sorry to hear about the work stress, but it sounds like it will improve soon. And yay for clean doggies!

Tonight we ride, right or wrong
Tonight we sail, on a radio song
Rescue me, should I go down
If I stay too long in trouble town

Oh, yeah, you wreck me, baby
You break me in two
But you move me, honey
Yes, you do

Now and again I get the feeling
Well if I don't win, I'm a gonna break even
Rescue me, should I go wrong
If I dig too deep, if I stay too long

Oh, yeah, you wreck me, baby
You break me in two
But you move me, honey
Yes, you do

I'll be the boy in the corduroy pants
You be the girl at the high school dance
Run with me, wherever I go
Just play dumb, whatever you know

Oh, yeah, you wreck me, baby
You break me in two
But you move me, honey
Yes, you do
