... gardening! ...Having a hard time with my garden this year. My spinach is dying already. I only have three zucchini plants coming up (after planting nearly 20). And something is eating my sugar snap peas and climbing roses. Probably the best thing I've got going is that I may have figured out how to keep some animals out -- thistles are growing all over the garden. Actually, I pruned my raspberries this year and they are looking very good. May have a really good crop of raspberries at least this year -- not sure about anything else.
It's been a year with ups and downs on gardening. We had frosts here until Memorial Day, and I lost my tomatoes early. OTOH, my Atlantic Giant pumpkins sprouted nicely, and the peonies put on a nice show.

That's what I've been trying to tell my wife and she refuses to buy it. My mom showed me exactly where I came from(I was extremely premature and it was a weird c-section) and I was awed that I was not "born of woman". I did some research on my own(astonishing at 7) and discovered the origin of c-sections and for a while believed I was going to be the next Caesar.

Yesterday, I was offered a job at one of the local game stores. I will only be working one day a week, but I am happy to be working again in some capacity. Of course, I spent so much time there anyway, it won't really be a shift in my current schedule. :)Bruce offered you a job? Perchance it's on Tuesdays?

Sure. It's conflicting data. Really quickly -- two things came out today. Consumer sentiment and retail sales. Consumer sentiment came back better than expected and retail sales came back worse than expected. Basically that means that people are more comfortable with the way things are going and should be buying more stuff -- but they aren't. And investors don't know what to do with that kind of information. The two bits of data should be more in line with each other -- not at odds with each other. At least in theory.

The library was a bit of a mixed bag. But getting out of the house for a bit did seem to lift my mood for a bit. It's been a long week. Here's hoping the weekend is better. And at least I found another Terry Pratchett audio book. Bryce will be so happy. And unlike the last audio books we read (Mossflower and Bedknobs and Broomsticks) I won't have to spend the drive time wishing I were wearing ear plugs. Especially Mossflower. Dear god. It was long and....and....and bloody awful. I can't believe I actually liked that book back when I first read it. The bad voice acting didn't really help it any either.

School's already done for the year there? Hmmm. I don't know. Are there any summer school type programs in your area? That's about the only thing I can think of unless you know someone personally.

Oh, I don't know. Last time Studpuffin and I went shopping together, he got hit on. By the salesgirl who was bringing me clothes. While I was in the changing booth six feet away. Laughing my a$$ off when he realized what was going on and started hemming and hawing.Maybe I should go shopping with female friends just to get hit on?Not the same. Not quite. I left it on all night, then when I went to check it this morning everything was frozen. The mouse worked for a second, then it froze. So I rebooted the system and we checked to see what was going on, it wasn't finding the HD! So we used the auto-detect, which found the HD... but when we reloaded windows it froze again in the same manner. We're gonna open it and clean it after work, but everyone we tell says it sounds like a motherboard issue. I'm not sure yet, as I must admit I'm not very Tech Savvy.
As a matter of fact, I was telling Treppa I needed to do some Stat Blocks and she said, "How are you going to do that without the computer?"
So I said, "On Paper."

I'm back and now have absolute proof that whoever has control of the sprinkler schedule in my apartment complex has some sort of vendetta against me.
My plan tonight is to pull it out of its kind of yucky spot right now, remove covers, blow/vaccuum out all the dust, reseat the connectors, and try it again. If it comes up, I might update BIOS but I think it's pretty current.
The intermittent yet catastrophic nature of the problem gives me the jibblies.

Headed home.
We're off to sunny Buffalo tonight, as my partner is retaking that state exam he didn't pass last time around. He passed another big exam he needed earlier this week, though, so that's a good thing. This one, though, he won't get results on for a month. :(
