My trapper's bane is up at KQ. Thanks again, Urizen, for your advice on this one. You really helped make this stronger than my initial concept.
Just back from visiting 2 of my boys for Easter. Many goblins were slain. Just catching up now.
The trapper's bane is an awesome creature. I love the description too. it caught me by surprise. Great job!

Question -- Especially for the girls here...
I really need to take my wife on a "romantic" date. We don't have a lot of money -- not like we're 'hurting', just don't have a lot of extra cash on hand to blow at an expensive restaurant. Last time I pretty well did "epic fail" taking her out to one of her favorite restaurants -- kind of an expensive family-run restaurant -- but she didn't feel that it was "romantic".
So any ideas what I could do that would be considered "romantic" and cheap without being "cheap"?
Probably Solnes' favorite date we had was when I planned a nice walk on the beach, dancing under the moonlight to music played by my cheap radio. Just dance, take her to a park and dance to those cheesy love songs she loves so much. Let the people stare if they want you know they'll just wish they had thought of it.

Understandable. Don't fall victim to what I did. :/

CJ, be careful about posting at work. And a big +1 to Moorluck's idea, I would only add to make sure that you have something to eat afterwards. Around my way, it was taking my wife to Prospect Park and walking the long way around to a favorite restaurant on the other side of said park that was considered quite romantic.
[EDIT]And it still burns me up that that happened to you, Urizen.

It's amazing just how much you (I) use opposable thumbs. Wrecked my thumb in Karate last night. Things that you don't realize how much you need your right thumb -- the space bar, buttons, socks, ties, brushing teeth, turning the key in the ignition, moving the laptop, turning a door knob, etc. Ouch!
(Someone asked a while ago what branch/style we're doing. I believe it is Shōrin-ryū. Hopefully my son and I will be getting our orange belt soon.)

The Thing from Beyond the Edge |

I am off for a doctor's appointment today.
I goto to work about 45 minutes early and logged on to a computer with my CAC card. Redundant?
Then I went to the secure naval internet and left it to go to a University of Kentucky forum I had saved as a favorite.
Instead I was sent to a page that said something to the effect of:
The filter has determined that your organization has deemed this an unsuitable (or some similar word) site. It matches the description "forums". If you still wish to proceed to this site choose hte proceed option. Your time allottment (sp?) with a maximum of one hour will be set.
So, technically I still could have continued despite being warned not to and my account would have had a log made as to where I went and how long I spent there. I would have been booted after an hour. But again, even if I stayed less than an hour there would be an established log that I went somewhere I had been warned not to go to and an established log of how much time I spent there.
So, I didn't proceed. Instead I googled the Paizo publishing web-site. The main site and not the message boards. When I chose it I received the same message but "forums" was relaced with "shopping". So, I decided to see just how far this thing would go. I tried ESPN and the response used the term "sports" and then I tried to look up recipes and the filter stopped me and used the response "leisure activities". At that point, I gave up.
That was a pretty hard core filter.
I think they had either changed the settings on the filter they had been using or were testing a new filter. Fortunately, those responses disappeared later that day and have not returned.

Very interesting indeed. How would you say this style matches up against Shotokan, Isshin-ryu, or Kyoshinkai? I ask because I incorporated a few different style of Karate(and other martial arts as well) into the various fighting styles for monks for my homebrew and I actually have not heard of this style until now.

Honestly, I have no idea. Especially since this is pretty much the only thing I know. (Or at least the only thing I'm learning.)
I know the instructor pretty well through our church and it is a "ministry" for him. He is offering the classes pretty much for little to nothing and is using the church's facilities. Cost is $15 a month per person. (He doesn't advertise, so all his students are there by word of mouth, but it is open to anyone.) I'm doing it largely to spend quality time with my son and I want him to do it to help with some of the physical coordination issues he is having. After reading the brief description from Wikipedia, I don't know that I could have found a better match for my son had I even looked.
Long way to say -- I don't really know much about Karate, but I'm glad we are where we are.

It's also interesting for me because I was in wrestling in high school and there are some things that are very similar (balance) and some things that are very different (in Karate you need to keep you limbs, especially your hands, between you and your opponent while in wrestling you never want to get on your back).

What it comes down to: 1. I want to move. 2. I want to go back to school. (Very compatible goals, I might add.)
The trouble is, I won't be starting school until Fall of 2011, and the earliest we could conceivably move is September 2010 (although during the winter is much more likely). It's all so far away.[/whine]

LA is REALLY expensive.

LA?!?!?!
But there are gangs of ten-year-olds with guns and everyone drives around in cars shooting at each other and the air is green and there's no sign of civilization whatsoever and the people are all phonies. No one reads. Everything has cilantro on it...

All the rentals we saw (including those being rented by friends of ours) are comparable to what we pay here. I think the costs are kept down right now because people are buying up foreclosures; there are a lot of apartment vacancies.
Now BUYING real estate - THAT'S expensive.
Other things, like gas, car insurance, etc, that tends to be more expensive is balanced by the fact that we're coming from New York state, the "other" expensive state for all that stuff. It's all about the same.

Well, there was the illiterate ten-year-old with fake boobs who shot a round of cilantro at us...
