Good afternoon all. I hope everyone is having a nice day today.
The day was good.
Last night it occurred to me that something didn't seem right about my doctor's appointmrnt for Monday the 6th of April. I finally realized at 2230 that today would be the fifth and that my appointment wasn't til Tuesday.
I spent the whole weekend thinking I had worked out a three day weekend. :(
But, I have tomorrow off.
:)

That's one thing I'll give my Dad, he may have been a hard ass most of the time but when it came to holidays he went all out. Of course I found out there was no Easter Bunny when I was 8....

Hey Kirkasarus Rex ... did you ever check out any of those motels/hotels in your neck of the woods? Check out your FB, sir. :D

It would have been better if he had told you he shot the replacement and brought rabbit in to eat. :P

Hmm. Well, it kind of depends on the person I guess. Sometimes takeout in a romantic setting (getting out a nice tablecloth, candles, etc) is more romantic than going to a restaurant. Picnics are always good too even if weather means it has to be an indoor picnic. :)
Agreed. The great thing about picnics is you are already mostly horizontal, on top of a blanket. Things generally take a natural course from there...

What has happened to the FAWTLY tower?
No posts in an hour?
When the warmer weather arrives and daylight lasts longer, it's generally assumed that people will step foot out of their hovels w/o their trusty computer at their hip. =)
In the meantime, thing .... you ought to get that FB profile pic up there with all this time on your hands this evening. You've been saying you were going to do it for ....... how long is it now? Or I'm going to start calling you Silhouette.

Thank you all
Now on the positive side
Bleys my oldest just made Starscout and troop leader in his scout pack. His troop is called the flying Squirrels. He has also been accepted into the IB program for high-school this next year.
He looks to be having two girls fighting for his attention at the moment as well. Sigh the pains of young love.
Dashiell my youngest just earned his Arrow of light award. The only one you can gain from cub scouts and bring into boy scouts with you. He is now a scout and has been made assistant troop leader within his troop, which currently does not have a name. I proposed the Bull-moose troop, but I am the only one who seems to love the symmetry of the joke. Dash has also been accepted into the Mathematics and Science magnet middle school.
Great news, CrimJ!
I am sorry to hear about the house troubles, though. Why is it landlords generally seem to be money-grubbing weasels?

I realize that, and I'm not saying everyone is like that. My experience has been less-than-good when we've rented places, usually around getting security deposits back. I've had someone check us out of an apartment and say the apartment is immaculate, then the landlord makes up some excuse to try to hold onto the security deposit, basically saying the person who checked us out has no authority.

I don't do that. I take a nice discreet dump in the corner.

Yeah, that is pretty unethical. I myself have never required a security deposit so that's never come up.

That's nice that you don't require a security deposit. Most of my renting was done while I was in the military, so maybe the people we rented from had bad experiences and charged a security deposit. Out of 3 places we rented, I had to fight 2 landlords for the deposit, though.
Sorry if my generalization insulted you.

Garydee wrote:Yeah, that is pretty unethical. I myself have never required a security deposit so that's never come up.Are you renting to total strangers or people you know? Not sure if you're just renting one house or if you have a string of properties. (?)
I rent to total strangers, but I usually end up becoming friends with everybody I rent to because of my easygoing attitude. I have a string of commercial properties. I've had residential properties in the past, but not right now.

taig RPG Superstar 2012 |

I've had some piss poor landlords. I've had some good ones too though. Mike, our current landlord is pretty strict but we'd be hard pressed to find a better person to rent from.
Loooooooong nap took care of bad headache, soon I will go back to bed so I can get up early to treat Chik-fil-a again.
Glad the headache is gone. I hope tomorrow goes better for you.
You're right, there are good landlords out there, too. We rented a house when we moved here, and the owners of house were great to work with. If we wanted to do upgrade projects they reimbursed us for most of the expenditures.

If you don't mind me asking, are you essentially self-employed being a landlord to commercial properties? And I consider you brave and perhaps fortunate ... I would be taking a deposit and I'd even be running a credit/background check on 'em.

I was wondering whether you guys were renters or owners. It seems at times that you do a lot of structural or design changes where you're renting as it would be money out of your pocket for something you don't even own. *shrug* Maybe I'm wrong. :D

Is there any incentive for you to do that?
I could never be in sales if I wasn't behind the product I was shilling.

Well in my case have a coworker from Scotland who has access to a Brittish Ip and can legally DL the episode and then burn it off so I can see it before the BBC America release on the 17th.

Yes I am. I do make them sign a lease with the rules clearly stated and they pay for the first month when they move in. Brave and fortunate? Not really. On occasion I've been burned but what's the most they could get out of me? Maybe a month's rent at the most. Destroy my property? I'll take them to court. I don't run credit/background checks on people because you and I know those things are not always fair to the individual in question.

Question -- Especially for the girls here...
I really need to take my wife on a "romantic" date. We don't have a lot of money -- not like we're 'hurting', just don't have a lot of extra cash on hand to blow at an expensive restaurant. Last time I pretty well did "epic fail" taking her out to one of her favorite restaurants -- kind of an expensive family-run restaurant -- but she didn't feel that it was "romantic".
So any ideas what I could do that would be considered "romantic" and cheap without being "cheap"?
I've always enjoyed the picnic in the park. Especially one with a duck pond and stuff.
Edit: And TotP without even trying for it :)
