Any clue as to what adventures are going to be run at Gencon Indy? There is a local convention here that is going to be having pathfinder modules being run and we want to make sure we don't play anything that is going to be at Gencon. Any insight would be awesome!
Well, at the very least they'll almost certainly be running four modules you won't have yet. There's also been some talk of running a "best of the best" style table which will essentially mean one at random from seasons 0/1 to help people fill out modules they don't have. GenCon's a big convention, so there will probably end up being some overlap regardless. I'd say it's best not to worry about it, since there should be plenty to do even given that.

Normally the August and 2 of the July events are available. As Chris said, they are talking about doing a "best of" table that people can play those season 0 and season 1 scenarios that they haven't played yet

I heard a rumor that sessions may be changing from four hours to five. Is there any truth to this?
yup, they did this to prevent butting heads with LFR, and this way it allows the game to take 4 hours, with an hour of housekeeping at the end to make sure sheets are filled out correctly.
|
Any idea how the slots will be scheduled? Last year they were 8am-12pm, 1pm-5pm, and 6pm-10pm. Allowed a player to participate in all three sessions. If they are butted right up to each other, it might make moving from one event to the next on time problematic. Unless, of course, part of the housekeeping time was at the beginning of the session to allow some flexibility for arrival.

To Answer your Question, This is from Josh
Spent the morning in meetings and replying to a very important email.
I'm working on the Gen Con schedule right now. It looks like we'll have ~36 tables, maybe 2-4 more, this year (we had 36 last year, too). Our Org Play area for this year is brand new--with, I've been told, taller ceilings!--and was that section of wall opposite our booth outside the dealer hall (near the battletech pods and the card sculptures) that was under construction last year. Well, now it's complete and we get 3/4 of it.
For sure, we'll run the 4 August scenarios, two of the June scenarios, and the first two parts of the Tier 12 arc. In addition, we'll likely run all of the Echoes of the Everwar arc and a May scenario.
I *might* set up one table each slot to be a "classic" table and likely get someone like Doug, who has experience with most, if not all, of our scenarios, to run whatever scenario the six players who sign up for it each slot can play. Does that sounds like something you guys/gals would like to see?
Our slots this year are 5 hours and match the RPGA slot times: 8am to 1pm, 1pm to 6pm, one hour break for dinner 6pm to 7pm, and then 7pm to midnight. There will be no officially sponsored Midnight Madness. Keep in mind that our 5-hour slots still assume 4 hours of play with an extra hour now for setting up, greetings, paperwork, etc. The slot transition from the morning slot to the afternoon slot will likely begin at noon--we'll be pressing people to wrap up and flee the area so we can prepare for the 1pm slot.
I'll be spending this week wrapping up our schedule. So if you want to see something on it, now's the time to suggest it. :-)

I'm offering 10 total scenarios from throughout Season 1 as well as the 4 new Season 2 scenarios at Gen Con. There will also be 1 table per slot called the "Classic" table where the players and GM determine what they want to run from the past and then run it. There will also be a "Classic" slot on Sunday afternoon where all 36 tables will be set up to do this, though that slot will be entirely dependent on GM availability.
Slots will run 8am to 1pm, 1pm to 6pm, 1 hour break for dinner from 6pm to 7pm, and then a final slot from 7pm to midnight Thursday through Saturday. On Sunday we'll have one slot from 8am to 1pm and then a free-for-all classics slot from 1pm to 6pm (the hall closes at 4pm on Sunday).
Five-hour slots include 4 hours of game play and an extra hour for paperwork etc. The morning slot will start to shut down at 12pm so we can cycle out the players and GMs and cycle in the players and GMs for the 1pm slot. I'll probably call for pencils down at 12:30pm and kick everyone out at 12:45pm in prep for the 1pm slot.
My GMs will get a nice email this year detailing the change and how to handle the transition from the morning slot to the afternoon slot. I don't see this being much of a problem.

Is this going to include the new adventurers being released at Paizocon? Again, just want to do as much at gencon as possible and avoid doing it all around here. I'd like to be able to fill at least 8 of the 11 slots I will be at gencon for with Pathfinder. Thanks!

I double-checked the schedule this morning and I'm actually offering all four Paizo Con scenarios at Gen Con.
So I could play everything that is being release up to paizocon and still have 8 adventures to play at gencon, that's awesome, you are awesome. I want to buy you a beer now.

He will make an announcement when he is ready to except volunteers. Keep an eye on these forums and the blog for the announcement.
If you have GMed for him in the past, you should also get an email with the announcement.

Before Indy happens, and after Paizocon, any plans to run Pathfinder at Origins? If so, any hints as to which mods? Coming all the way from Oz to Paizocon I'd love to know if it's worth including Origins in the trip. Any glimmer of info much appreciated

Like last year there will be Pathfinder Society events run at Origins, but Paizo will not have a presence in the vendor hall. Josh is probably still putting the finishing touches on the February release scenarios, but he'll be the one to set the schedule of events at Origins soonish. Expect to see all the scenarios released at PaizoCon, plus a handful of others (like the ones released in May). I am thinking there won't be a big difference between what sceanrios are run at Origins and what you will play at PaizoCon, with the understanding that PaizoCon is the place to be and Origins is the consolation prize if you can't make it to Bellevue.

Doug, your running PFS at Origins right? See if Josh can get you a few dozen copies of the Paizo catalouge to give out. Cosmo had a huge stash of those little booklets at Gencon and I took some of them to the muster area/table. They went fast and we got some 'walk up' players because they had something colorful to look at and peek interest.
Hmm ... maybe Yoda can send you some Pathfinder wiki cards as well to stash into those catalouges.
Hey, look over there!
/sets fire to your pants.
In Cheliax, there can be no greater honor than pants set afire by The Frost.

Yeah, I jumped at the chance to coordinate PFS at Origins. Good idea with the catalogues, I'll e-mail him right now. If Mark wants to mail me some of his Wiki cards, I can be reached at dmiles [at] starems [dot] com and I'll give him an address.
