Magical Knack Talent

Rules Questions

Does the Magical Knack Talent just add to Caster Levels, or does it add extra Spells / Day as well ?

It does what it says on the tin. It increases your caster level.

Note: it doesn't increase your caster level above your hit dice. This is a trait for multiclassers, a la certain 3.5 feats. It's nice, if you treat it right.

Where is Magical Knack? Seems useful but I can't find it in the core rulebook.

It's a general trait you can choose at character creation (most people get 2). They're found in the downloadable player's guides to campaigns.

Here's the text:

6 Magical Knack: You were raised, either wholly or in
part, by a magical creature, either after it found you abandoned
in the woods or because your parents often left you
in the care of a magical minion. This constant exposure
to magic has made its mysteries easy for you to understand,
even when you turn your mind to other devotions
and tasks. Pick a class when you gain this trait—your
caster level in that class gains a +2 trait bonus as long as
this bonus doesn’t increase your caster level higher than
your current Hit Dice.

You can download it free. Pathfinder character traits enhancement.

Thanks a lot!

Just to make sure I understand this correctly...
I am building a "just-in-case" replacement character for a campaign. The character is 7th level total, Barbarian 4, Sorcerer 1, Dragon Disciple 2. He would then have magical ability as a 4th level sorcerer (1 actual level, +1 for DD-2, +2 MK)? He would know and be able to cast 2nd level spells?

It's in the Advanced Players Guide under new rules in the Traits sections.

No, it doesn't increase your casting ability. Just your "caster level". So for instance, if you cast a spell with a duration of X minutes per level, you'd get a longer duration. When you're eventually casting fireball, you get more damage.

No. His spells known and spells per day are as a second level sorceror (1 level of sorceror plus the second level of dragon disciple gets him +1 level of sorceror). His CASTER LEVEL is 4, so if he casts, for example, magic missile, his range is 140 and he gets two missiles.
